that's my daughter ... Forsencis ... CSI biology major its interesting stuff

it is very interesting stuff. though im more interested in the psychology of crime.
those CSi shows drive me insane(r).. would it kill them to turn on a friggin' light? and when is someone gonna off calleigh duquesne??? they killed off tim they should do the same to her. she bugs the bejeesus out of me.
Yep, the abnormal psychology and profiler classes very interesting. I'm learning a lot too!
Sensationalist bullshit if ever I heard it, I hate the use of such emotive language in a debate that should be about logic
You will see in my post this was bolded, do not misquote me
Misquote you those were my words
yours were bolded in your post I removed from my response as I did not bold those you did
If I had wanted them to be the entire point of my post I would have.
Hard facts though not sensational bullshit as you so rudely reply
... its important to feel each others pain
I guess you think that is bullshit :?
feel each others pain not look at statistics.
One person victimized is one too many in my book.
If there had been a well trained citizen to respond to the rape of a young college woman at 6pm
in a heavily populated area of GT a few weeks ago she would not have been brutalized and
one less asshole would be off the streets that would not hurt another young girl....
maybe your daughter, sister, girlfriend....
there I go again trying to make it about real people....
because it is.
Yes but i bolded those parts because thats what i was commenting about,
there are well trained citizens, they are called the police,
this girl would have still been rapped if everyone had guns, no one "responded" because no one knew it was happening, people having guns wouldn't change that
people don't have super powers they can't automaticly know when people are in danger
I bet you will find that the "death rate" data you speak of does not apply to lawfull , registered handgun owners.
Yes, because you never hear of a 12 year old shooting his brother in the face after unlocking his Dads lawfully registered handgun. I still hear several of these a month in the news.

not true the guy got away ...
the people coming on the scene could have made a difference but we know this with
so many crimes.
The police can't keep us safe ...
this obvious by the amount of crime.
We must have the option to keep ourselves safe.
A person with a gun, well trained with common sense on the use,

that person is empowered and a law abiding citizen not willing to die at the hands

That person is not a sitting duck for the criminals breaking laws with illegal weapons
that aren't going anywhere, I might add.

Remember you don't have to carry but you may find yourself one day in a position
that you are thankful someone is.
Really? You see several reports of kids accidentally shooting their siblings or friends every month? I think you're exaggerating quite a bit when you say that.

The majority of gun related deaths are self-inflicted (cue the last song from Superunknown). The owner of the gun should fear it more then anyone else.

Nope, not exaggerated. There was just another one in my county in the past few weeks where a boy shot his brother in the head on accident. I see this all the time. Maybe its just a Florida thing, but its all too common down here...the more I think about it, its probably more a problem here than most places. Lots of guns, and lots of irresponsible gun owners.
Personally... if someone keeps loaded firearms in their home for protection... fine... no problem. Intruders need to understand that they run the risk of armed response when they illegally enter someone else's home.
But... i really don't want these civilian vigilante types, wandering around the city I live in, stroking their stock, just looking for someone to shoot. I mistrust their judgement as much as I mistrust the criminal's judgement.
Who does that? "these civilian vigilante types" Great point...
Way to add something constructive. Fact is, criminals do not follow the law. People who register their firearms and hold a CCW are far less likely to commit crimes than others. But, I wouldn't want you to be dissuaded from your trolling with facts and statistics.
...
Want the Truth? I distrust your judgement.
I'm not saying you would go out in public, committing crimes... i'm saying that I don't trust your judgement regarding the use of a loaded weapon in public. If there is a serious situation, such as some nut on Vine Street, firing randomly at passing cars... I don't want you, your hero complex and your gun out there, adding more bullets into the air.
I don't want you, deciding on your own, to patrol the streets where I live with your loaded guns. If you want to do that, then join the police force as a fully trained, oath-sworned, uniformed officer. I have no problem with cops... I have problems with cop wannabes.

Not to mention, I have more firearm training and skill than most policeman. I am certified to carry a concealed firearm in more states than not and cant even carry in my own state of California. I can shoot a dime from 20 feet. Yet "Cosmo" (a pussy smoking a ciggarete avatar since i didnt use the quote function) makes baseless claims about "vigilantes stroking" something and other troll talk.
Don't judge bro. I makes you look silly to make comments when you have no idea what you are talking about. How many rounds do you think a regular cop on the beat shoots at the range a month?
Get with the program
If I were in Michigan, Florida, Az, Utah...etc etc etc. I would have a firearm on my person. If violence erupted, I would identify my target, what is behind it and then destroyed it.
The vine shooting you discuss so casually happened less than a mile from where i make a living daily. If I were there, at my chiropractor or at lunch which I often am, I would have seen a crazy man unloading on innocent civilians. One getting shot in the head. Yet you say you would prefer that I not I not intervene as a skilled marksman?
It's a shame most in California see the same as you. Typical.

I live in michigan, very close to Detroit.. many of us are carrying. Crimes like mugging, car-jacking, home invasion, etc. are way down.. Every low-life piece of shit is thinking twice.. It is a wonderful thing to be able to have a CCW..
like I said in my original post,
"IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A GUN AND NOT NEED IT THAN TO NEED A GUN AND NOT HAVE IT"
**and to edit, this is simple boy scout logic..BE PREPARED!! I have a months worth of freeze dried food and water stored.. I hope I never need to use it, just as I hope I never have to use a gun on another human being.**
I don't know what kind of lollypop and rainbow world some people are living in, but around these parts CCW's are making a difference..
Funny that Michigan is an "open carry" state to begin with.. meaning, barring any city or township ordinaces you can carry a gun in the open.. love it..

Born and raised in Michigan before I moved to lollipop land. Aka California. I am surrounded by people who don't get it. Not sure if you recall the news of the Walgreens employee in Benton Harbor (just west of detroit on 94, on lake michigan)that thwarted a robery recently by having a concealed firearm. Anyway, I agree with you. My family lives there. Even my mom has a ccw and she is mid 60. Great shot too!
And the be prepared...yep. AND like I said either in this thread or another, when shit hits the fan (re being prepared to TAKECARE OF YOUR FAMILY), the thugs and pieces of shit will flock to the home that has the generator, smoke coming from chimney, food, etc.
Probably don't need a whole bunch of water stored in Michigan though...,
Fuel, food and ammo!
I don't doubt that you see reports of them and I don't doubt that there are idiots who don't know how to properly secure their guns, but I doubt that you hear about several of them every month--especially since you just said "there was just another one in my county in the past few weeks." If you see sevearl every month I'd expect that you'd see at least an average of 1-2 every week just in order to keep the pace of several each month. Your math would mean that in your area you see reports of this sort of thing happening sevearl dozen times every year which would put it at a minimum of 36-48 incidents. That's why I said that you're exaggerating.

Okay. You are John Fucking Wayne.... I get it... you see yourself as a hero.
Based on your arguement... ANYONE with a CCW permit from another state should be able to carry a loaded weapon, where ever, whenever they want, right? Just because you are trainned, it means every gun owner is also as well-trainned as you, right? You think it would be safer to have more guns, putting more bullets into the air? You want to carry your gun an play hero in Michigan... fine, move back to Michigan where you are free to do so.
And yes... i understand that not all cops are good... but, i have more faith in them handling a volatile situation than some random fucking yahoo, carrying a gun, just waiting for a situation to fire it.

Good for the woman for protecting herself in the op, and if someone breaks into MY house, the same damn thing is going to happen to them.
...
And you should... should you decide to use that strategy for home defense.
I wouldn't exactly be thrilled to do that at all, but if a guy is continuing to come into my house after I have shot a warning shot and the police or law enforcement are not there and I need to protect myself and my family, then, yes hell, the person will get shot.
i understand that not all cops are good... but, i have more faith in them handling a volatile situation than some random fucking yahoo, carrying a gun, just waiting for a situation to fire it.
a random fucking yahoo?
It was very fortuante cops happened to be nearby working on a set...
Seems to me if they weren't there, you would have prefered to have this crazy man, after he unloaded his clip, cutting people at will until a cop arrived. However long that may be.
Not sure responsible gun owners who carry are "just waiting for a situation to fire it". That is not why they carry, at least not why I carry when legally permited to do so. They, I (resposnible, law abiding civilians) carry for protection in the unfortunate event they may be forced to use it. But, don't want to get you confused with reality of responisble gun ownership. very quick to judge i might add.

Ok, if you want to nitpick, thats fine. But recall the first thing I said was that I hear of several of these a month...that is nationwide. I guarantee there are more than several of these incidences per month nationwide. You probably dont even har about most of them. In my area, I see probably one in the news every month. And i'm sure I dont hear about all of them. I also have a friend who was on the broward county police in a bad area - says they got calls of this sort all the time...The real point is that there seems to be more of these idiotic incidences than your average John Wayne saving the day out on the street. What the fuck does it matter if its an exaggeration or not anyways..These stories always stand out because they are a fucking travesty and could've been avoided. I honestly remember about 6-8 of these this year, where they show the kids faces in the news, and that always leaves a mark on me. It makes my skin crawl. And like I said, I think there are probably more cases like this in my area because it seems like there are more irresponsible idiots with guns who watch too many Bruce Willis movies.
If you want, if you're really hung up on this, I could go back over the last 6 months and show you the pictures of the half dozen young people in palm beach county who were in the news for being shot accidentally by their friend/relative. nevermind, I dont have the time for that shit, but i will save all the stories I hear from here on out so that I have evidence for you  ...Or I could have my friend who is a cop give you a call and explain how many accidental shootings he sees per month.
i understand that not all cops are good... but, i have more faith in them handling a volatile situation than some random fucking yahoo, carrying a gun, just waiting for a situation to fire it.

That's my point... 'Not Every Gun Owner is a RESPONSIBLE Gun Owner' (or are they?). I have no idea what your personal gun regiment is or how proficient you are at shooting dimes... just like I have no fucking clue what ANY random, gun carrying fuck's gun proficiency is. I just know the likelihood of stray bullets increases with the greater number of bullets flying through the air. Based on simple math... where, More guns firing at the same time = more fucking bullets flying through the air.
In your arguement... EVERY Gun Owner (every one with a CCW permit) is as highly trained and proficient and level headed and cool under fire as you are. Is that a fact? Because if it is... I'd like you to show me where it is... so I won't be so judgemental.

I just can't imagine living life thinking I needed to carry a gun to feel safe. One thing I love about living in Canada, I've walked around the biggest cities up here at 2 am, never thought I'd be safer if I had a gun. In fact, I've never really felt in any danger at all! If someone were to hold me up, so be it, they can take my wallet (which, if I'm out at 2 am, has probably been emptied at the bar).
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

I agree with the carrying a gun part. Having one in my house, yes, but not carrying it around; it ups the ante on what may happen, imo. When living in New Orleans, I have walked home alone at 3am and I felt the same way.
you can't have a firearm in a bar or carry one while intoxitated. Only crimanals can.
but i guess that's not the point. I am one of the few here who speaks of responisble gun ownership.
I was speaking more generally, I just can't see a situation where I'd feel more safer if I was carrying a gun, period.

I agree, and although umamasan you sound like a responsible gun owner, when it comes to something as deangerous as a firearm, I think you have to be leary about the average person. think about your average joe schmo on the street. Would you want most of these people waving guns around? I bet there are a lot of stupid people out there that wouldnt be able to think beyond their target in a pressure situation in public.
Personally, most of the gun owners I know, I would not want to be around if they pulled their gun out in public. Even the friends I have who own them, I wouldnt likely trust with a gun in a pressure situation. Mostly because NONE of then have EVER been in a pressure situation. How do you guage how someone weill react if its never happened to them. in my opnion, more bullets = bad, in most cases.
"IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A GUN AND NOT NEED IT THAN TO NEED A GUN AND NOT HAVE IT"
I don't know what kind of lollypop and rainbow world some people are living in, but around these parts CCW's are making a difference..
What if one has a gun and uses it irresponsibly, or there's some sort of accident? What if a guy has a permit and shoots the wrong guy? Then is it better to have a gun and not need it?
A responsible gun owner is only responsible until he or she fucks up...

unrelated, but this is a perfect example of why it is so fucked that I can't carry my firearm, but the criminal can. This just happened a mile away from where I work but I have to keep my firearm at home? Fucking California.... http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2 ... -head.html

You infer that had you been on the scene, with your gun... you would have been able to do something about it.
I distrust your judgement in a volatile situation as I would distrust ANYONE in a volatile situation. Although not all cops are perfect, I believe they are the ones that are probably the best suited to deal with it... not some random gun owner (such as yourself).
I have no problem with you... or any gun owner, protecting your homes from intruders. I don't want just anyone who owns a gun (including you) to be roaming the street with loaded guns in the same city where i (and my neices and nephews) live.
You may think having more guns out there makes you safer... I disagree. I think that YOU feel safer carrying a loaded weapon on your person at all times... but, how am I supposed to know are different than any other yahoo who legally owns a gun? And I believe the city of Los Angeles has a lot of leagally owned firearms in the hands of people who really shouldn't own a gun.

If I were there, at my chiropractor or at lunch which I often am, I would have seen a crazy man unloading on innocent civilians. One getting shot in the head. Yet you say you would prefer that I not I not intervene as a skilled marksman?
It's a shame most in California see the same as you. Typical.
like I said in my original post,
"IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A GUN AND NOT NEED IT THAN TO NEED A GUN AND NOT HAVE IT"
**and to edit, this is simple boy scout logic..BE PREPARED!! I have a months worth of freeze dried food and water stored.. I hope I never need to use it, just as I hope I never have to use a gun on another human being.**
I don't know what kind of lollypop and rainbow world some people are living in, but around these parts CCW's are making a difference..
Funny that Michigan is an "open carry" state to begin with.. meaning, barring any city or township ordinaces you can carry a gun in the open.. love it..

Hail, Hail!!!
And you should... should you decide to use that strategy for home defense.
Hail, Hail!!!
a random fucking yahoo?
If you want, if you're really hung up on this, I could go back over the last 6 months and show you the pictures of the half dozen young people in palm beach county who were in the news for being shot accidentally by their friend/relative. nevermind, I dont have the time for that shit, but i will save all the stories I hear from here on out so that I have evidence for you  ...Or I could have my friend who is a cop give you a call and explain how many accidental shootings he sees per month.
...
Hail, Hail!!!
wrong again. Never said that.
You made it about me....see below. Not every responsible gun owner.
your baiting is weak
carry on, I am not going to play your game.
but i guess that's not the point. I am one of the few here who speaks of responisble gun ownership.
A responsible gun owner is only responsible until he or she fucks up...
Hail, Hail!!!
