  • They were staying at the Clarence - that i know because i go there a lot for lunch and I asked the barman after... my source tells me Eddie was with a black guy (I am guessing Boom) and a very pretty woman (I am guessing Jill) in Isoldes, I would guess he went there because it is the closest late bar to the Clarence.

The black guy is Ed's bodyguard..... he normally has Mr T, but he "wasnt getting on no plane fool" :)

but the black guy IS Ed's bodyguard... that much is true!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • The Madrid show is the third one I see in the tour. The first one were Dublin and Vitoria. And, IMHO, this one was the best, followed by Vitoria. I'm very sorry, but I didn't like very much Dublin. The sound was really bad (I didn't hear the bass at all, and hardly the three guitars) and the setlist was not the best in my opinion. In Vitoria the sound was good and I think the band had a very good time. I couldn't talk for three days after so much singing...
But Madrid was special (it's my hometown, I know). After 15 years without PJ, people was really crazy, much more than in Dublin or Vitoria. And they start with Better Man... and then, more than 1 hour non-stop music. And, put apart a few songs, it was just like being in 1994: Ten, VS, Vitalogy. I eally miss some of my favourite PJ songs: Smile, Light Years, All hose Yesterdays, Save You (they played it in Vitoria), but, I must say that the times I listened to these songs live (bootlegs...) were not the same as in studio, specially Smile (why doesn't it have the same special, sharp, sound?).
It was also nice when Eddie said that...
-Next time, in one or two years, when we come back (people crazy...), G Bush won't be the president of the USA (or something like that) (people carzy again...) and then, they begin with World Wide Suicide...
I really think that today, they regret not having played in Madrid for 15 years...
By the way, the sound was not too bad ...

    I can't finish this without a mention:
    Nice wrote:
I think there were hardly any Spanish people in that show... There were people from EVERYWHERE around the world!! Spanish people is not usually that effusive... It was too much of a great audience to be mostly Spanish...
There are many many GILIPOLLAS in the world, but certainly, you, NICE, are one of the BIGGEST

    Saludos

Well he landed here about a month or more ago, and there was a media frenzy trying to find out where he's staying (i.e. they printed something saying 'if you know where he's staying please let us know', lol, the Irish media arent' exactly the most intrusive in the world) and I presumed he'd left but then I hear about him in the bookshop at the weekend :o

  • Amazing concert. My first Pearl Jam one too after waiting 14 years to see them!! Couldn't make it to any of the others unfortunately. Eddie's voice is incredible live. Highlights for me were Black, Betterman & Rearview Mirror. Great to hear Leash & Fuckin' Up also as I haven't heard them in such a long time, takes me back to my school days. Bit disappointed they didn't play Jeremy, Nothingman & Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town to name a few but all in all the atmosphere was great & I had a great night. Listening to the bootleg of it at the moment. Wish they would play here more often.

Hey! I know :( I got to meet loads of people but not everyone which sucks. I only got to stay in The Temple Bar for about an hour and a half but it was good craic. But not to fear there will be more meetups on their next Euro tour and ALSO the next American tour of which I plan to catch a show or two. How'd you enjoy the gig?

  • Rita we did meet Binaural. I think he's is Stephen, unless I'm thinking of someone else. I believe I met him either the day before or before the gig in Temple Bar.
