    I'm afraid it does matter. The ball came off from an Irish player's kick and went to the croatian. It's legit on side because it came from an Irish player.

    he was offside already..

    Yep but that shot was blocked so it becomes a different 'phase of play' if you like. If the shot was saved by given and then he scored the rebound then it would have been offside but because it was blocked by an outfield player and it was his touch that landed the ball to him it's considered OK. Confusing? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Legitimate? Yes. They fooked up the offside rule when they changed it but it's just how it goes. The commentators and pundits here all say the same, no offside.
