i've got a show from 2000 where kid rock sing with james on turn the page & on the part where he sings "smokes the days last cigarette" kid rock goes-"smoked a fat ass joint!" cracks me up everytime!
minneapolis 2000 (summer sanitarium) i think. as far as the vinyl question, all metallica's albums are on vinyl. 180g reissues. you can find them on amazon or at metallica.com . the black album is a little harder to find, though. for some reason, that was a limited run.
there's TWO versions of each album. standard vinyl and deluxe(45rpm).

What IMPRESSED me the most about the Metallica XXX shows was that they invited EVERYONE back for thier moment in the spotlight. From friends(like Scott Ian), to heroes(Ozzy and Geezer), to comtemporaries(Mercyful Fate), to even the EX-MEMBERS(Jason Newstead, and some guy named Dave) that didnt quite leave on good terms.
If Dave Mustaine could actually play on the same stage with James and Lars again AS METALLICA, even for just a few songs, then anything is possible. Unless you're talking about Pearl Jam, where they barely even recognize the contributions of thier former drummers.

the black album(s) are back in their store. there's also a few other deluxe versions. i'm hoping that beyond magnetic gets a vinyl release as well. the cd hits the streets jan 30 worldwide, jan 31 u.s. i have been wearing that shit out! i purchased a mixxx of songs from all 4 nights to put on one disc. it was hard to pick, but i got a killer set!

just listened to rebel of babylon & heard where james confirmed it being a layne staley tribute & he got choked up. now i'm at the part where they're talking about rob halford & his bag. funny stuff. the band was so on for these shows. heres the mix i made:
    1.no remorse
    2.shortest straw
    3.hate train
    4.bleeding me
    5.just a bullet away
    6.i disappear
    7.the outlaw torn
    8.hell & back
    9.rebel of babylon
james sounded a little rough on hate train, but i imagine that song is hard to sing. great to hear all the joking around too. as well as an unedited no remorse. i'm going to get the whole shows eventually, but i think i'm gonna snag those posters first. my god! the way they segued remorse -shortest straw= SICK!
i love how at the end of just a bullet away lars said "coming soon to an inbox near you!" then they joked around some. they literally did send the songs to metclubbers inboxes right after they'd finished each new song. can't wait for the cd..please do vinyl!!!

Agreed! Show some respect to the fans.... bring back some of the past drummers to jam on few songs and most importantly... bury the hatchet.

What is up with the line up. I mean i like a lot of the bands but kidn of weird. It would be a great excuse to get a bunch of good young metal bands together and get them some exposure.

ride is great news if true, but fuck having to listen to all of the black album. i can deal with a few songs, but not the whole thing...

I'm not sure if they were joking regarding Ride during their presser, I had to get back to work so I stopped the stream on my phone as they were talking about it.
