    What’s a Fanview?

A FanView is an exclusive Message Pit thread for fans that attend a concert and want to share their experience with fans that could not.

Does a FanView need to be certain length?

No, your FanView can be one word “AWESOME,” a few lines or a short story.

What if I’m not a great speller or the best at grammar?

Don’t worry about this, do the best you can. The Grammar Police take a holiday for these types of threads. Trust me, I speak from experience.

I have a couple incredibly interesting comments on the show -- but I wasn’t there -- should I go ahead and post them here anyway?

No, this thread is reserved for the lucky fans that attend the concert.

I need to ask a question about the concert -- but I wasn’t there. Should I ask it here?

No, I’m trying for pure Fanviews from the fans who were there.

Are you a Ten Club member? Consider posting your member number and seat location with your Fanview.

A FanView can include but is not limited to such things as your description of Pearl Jams set, the opening bands set, what it took or how you got to the show, how was the pre-party, what did you do after the show, how did you feel?

“THANK YOU” to everyone that has helped make Fanviews a true pleasure to read.

    Thanks for sharing, edwho

Let me be the first to respond to this...fucking awesome show!!! 10C # of 337xxx and was in the wings on Mike's side 6 rows back. Great seats, no complaints(imagine that!) except for the assholes behind us that were fighting. The guy that was punched in the face and was bleeding profusely decided to try and spray it all over the guy who hit him and hit everyone around us with it instead. It was disgusting!!! Grow the fuck up!!!

As I said though awesome show and a big thanks to 10C for the great seats!!!
    PJ FANS ROCK!!!

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

    10C# 138xxx Sec. 3, Row E (5th row, stones side)

This was my only show this tour, and it def. rocked! My daughter and I drove in from North Carolina on Friday and just made a whole weekend out of it, Hall of Fame, etc. We picked up our tickets around 2pm Saturday, 5th row, Stones side! Thank you 10C, you rock! My daughter spent the next few hours with much anticipation about being that close!

We got there in plenty of time to grab a hoodie and catch Ed's pre-set. To see the smile on her face the first time she saw Eddie, priceless. The pre-set was great and MMJ rocked, they sounded fabulous live and I will see them again. PJ opening with Betterman was a surprise, but it worked! And right in to Given to Fly, it was a good night for Yield fans! GTF is always so moving for me live.......my daughters favorite song is Evolution, so when that one started I put her on my back so she could see and she sang every damn word with her fist pumping in the air, I couldn't have smiled any bigger, and Matt saw her singing, made him smile, or I think so, sometimes you just can't tell! (and my apologies to the folks behind me for that, I would never have let her stand on her chair or get on my back for a whole show, but there were a few songs she really wanted to hear and I wanted her to see, if only for 60 sec.)

The new stuff was awesome live, Unemployable and Inside Job which I wasn't sure about live, was great!!!!! All of it....the songs on this album will be staples on tour, they rock! And most of all.....COMATOSE! The crowd really got into that one!

It's hard to say my favorite part of the show.....Watching Ed's little dance during the porch jam certainly was fun, he poured some wine in some mans glass in the front row who was enjoying being there....how was the wine? During Alive when Mike came over to our side and him and Ed were having a good time....near the end of Alive my daughter was calling home with the phone in the air, singing and dancing and she caught Ed's eye and he gave her a smile....she turned to me, just like a kid in a candy store with a smile from ear to ear "he smiled at me!!!" Too cute....I thought Ed's vocals were great all night, particularly at the end of Black and on Immortality, he sounded great, and might I add looked great too! :) He looks in very good shape. After he did "requests" by playing U and Smile, my daughter gives me the "you should have told me to bring a sign", so next time she wants a sign that says "black, red, yellow", too funny. No, they never played Evenflow, and I was ok with that! I thought the setlist was tight, the show felt a little short (what was the actual time on it anyway?) but they always do when your having that much fun! There were seats in our row by the way that were never occupied, and a few people in the 2nd and 3rd rows our side who were pretty boring and never appeared to freakin' move. I'm not saying you have to jump up and down and pogo and all that, but some folks didn't even look like they were having a good time! Go figure. They were jumping "inside", haha. All in all it was an unforgettable evening, sharing moments like that with your kid you'll never forget and neither will they. She will remember that concert forever. A huge thanks to the guys from Cincinnati we sat with (I think your names were Dan and Nate??) who shuffled around seats with us all night so Hope could see when people in front of us shifted. Very cool. And to the really nice guy we met when getting our tickets, had a long sleeve green disease shirt on, who we saw again at Flannerys and at the show who complimented my daughters Yield belt buckle, she looked for you after the show so she could tell you how much FUN she had! Pearl Jam fans are the best!

I'm off to get the boot for that lasting memory, and will see everyone next time! Or, if they make it to the south! *wink-wink*
    ~Peace~

ps. Dan or Nate? if I have the names right, took quite a few pictures that were going to a blog, singleblogtheory.com if you want to check it out.....

Seats were side rear, lower level, best seats I have ever had for a concert, could see everything. My first PJ concert, this was the best live show I ever saw, and that includes seeing the stones 4 times and U2 three times. The fans just rock, I have never seen fans of other bands that know the lyrics to all the other songs the way PJ fans do. Going to Deroit tonight and Cincy can't wait.

I was in that section too... second row :)

The show was incredible, it felt very personal to me. More than ever it seemed as if every song was chosen just for me :o. After I heard the Daughter tag I thought I could go home happy already. Silly me, I would have lost the best Immortality ever. Had to cry :)

The main set felt relatively short (just an hour or so), but the encores made up for it. I was very happy that they decided to play Inside Job again, because I think the band had sound troubles during the main set in Grand Rapids, so I wasn't able to enjoy it as much. No sound issues in Cleveland... everything was flawless... except the occasional lyrics fuckup :)

Oh... and I think the crowd was great, but Ed was referring to a big advertising sign in the arena saying welcome to loudville when he said that :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

There were alot of Pittsburgh'ers there, me included. It was a great night, except for the Mongaloid prick who was infront of me. Some 6'5" dude who must have taken 400 pictures - I couldn't see a fucking thing. I don't get it. He watched the whole show through his little camera lens....

Anyhow, it was a good time. Mike seemed a little more mellow to me.

I thought I just couldn't hear Mike enough....like on the "wah-wah-wah" of Severed Hand? I felt like he should have been turned up a bit....but overall I thought the sound was great. I was on Stones side without too great a view of Mike though...:( but that's ok, he came to visit on Alive!! :)

Nothing will top this concert experience for me!!!!

We were side stage in the first row, on Stone's side. I didn't think the night could get any better when they played "Smile". Well....then during "F*in up", Ed came over to our side, pointed at me, and threw the tambourine! I was actually in shock and missed catching it...haha. But it fell near me and I got it. I'm still giddy and can't stop smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was great!!! My GF thought it was strong but I thought it was perfect. I'm hardly a connoisseur so I won't pretend to know what it was. It was very good though. I also agree Ed and Mike right in front of us during the Alive guitar solo was amazing. I'm looking forward to Detroit tonight and hoping to share some more wine and for In Hiding.

The show was amazing!!!!---felt like I was dreaming when they played the It's Okay tag after Daughter :) I probably pissed the people off in back of me when I stood on my seat jumping like a fool, w/ hands waving trying to get Ed's attention--but it was only for a sec to show my love for It's Okay. Looooooved everything about the show. Stone singing Don't Gimme No Lip was unreal! McCready playing Yellow Ledbetter behind his back!--Ed's speech about democracy deteriorating and getting involved in all the activism! There was sooooo much to love.

Muchos gracias Pearl Jam for making the night incredible!!

im glad i wasnt the only one who noticed that. it was my one gripe about the show (aside from the guy who was in the row ahead of me and at the perfect angle that i, a 6 foot tall man was unable to see ed when he was at the mic). it seemed like a lot of the time i couldnt hear mike soloing very well. but i was about 15 rows back on stone's side, so it may have just been acoustics.

also, i never thought id hear the 'we belong together' tag on black... so awesome.

Before I get to the actual concert let me say this, The Cleveland crowd was INSANE! They put the crowds in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Lexington (the 3 other placed I have seen Pearl Jam) to shame. Every person in the arena was standing and singing along to almost every song, even in the upper deck. The place was packed to the rafters, too. Now on to my review:

The band seemed to have a lot more energy this time around. It was an unusual, but brilliant move, opening with “Better Man”. It’s a song that even the most casual Pearl Jam fan knows the words to. It got the crowd into the show and singing along right from the start. They followed it up with “Given to Fly”, a song I will never get tired of hearing live. Next up was three new songs, all of which rocked live. The true mark of a great band is when songs sound better live, than on their album. “WWS”, “Life Wasted”, and “Severed Hand” all did just that. They rest of the main set was fantastic. The highlight for me was the “It’s OK” tag on Daughter, complete with a crow sing along. Fantastic!

The 1st encore was good. “Inside Job” is freaking killer live, far superior to the album version, complete with a new laser light show. This made me want so smoke a joint, and I don’t even partake in the wacky weed.

The second encore is where things got out of hand. They opened it with an absolute blistering version of “Go”, the best I have ever heard. They went straight into “Comatose”, the heaviest (and maybe the best) song from their new album. At this point Ed said they where going take some request. I knew right then things where about to get wild, and we where going to get treated with some rare songs. First was “U”, this was the highlight of the night for me, totally unexpected, but GREAT! Ed then introduced us to “guest vocalist” Stone Gossard. Stone took the mike and I thought for a moment we where getting “Mankind”, however it was “Don’t Gimme No Lip” from “Lost Dogs”. Great sing along. Next Ed introduced “guest guitarist” Jeff Ament. I knew instantly that “Smile”, my all time favorite Pearl Jam song, was next. (You know you are a Pearl Jam geek when you know the only song Jeff plays guitar on is “Smile”). “Smile” rarely gets played, usually just a couple of shows per tour. I have had the pleasure of seeing it twice (the other being Lexington ’03). “Why Go” was next and it blew me away. The have brought this song out of storage this tour, and it’s AMAZING live. (Before this tour they hadn’t played “Why Go” live since 1995). They ended the show with “Fuckin’ Up” and “Yellow Ledbetter”.

All in all, I’d say the show was magnificent (as always). Also, it’s so much better sitting with fellow Ten Club members, than it is sitting with causal fans. If you are a PJ fan you have to catch them this tour, if at all possible. I was planning on making this my only show this tour, but Pearl Jam concerts are like Lays Potato chips; you can’t stop at just one. Providing the fundage, I may drive solo to Cincinnati and see if anyone has an extra ticket.

hehe, those were funny. honestly, i dont know how the band could see something like that. you've got to figure from a brightly lit stage looking into a dark crowd with so much movement and stuff, a tiny little parachute man is not going to catch much attention... unless you got a BIG one and tossed it from the upper deck!

The show was fucking amazing! To all the people who got picks, tamborines, harmonicas, etc..Congrats! I got memories, I got SHIT! I wasn't close enough to get anything but memories, but I'll take it! The show was unforgettable. I really liked it when Ed was using his guitar as a spot light and realized that there were people up in the nose bleed section. It really surprised him. Great night! High energy! Great set list! I can't complain about the seats either! They were way better than the ones I got thru 10C for the 2003 show. Thanks 10C! Thanks P.J.! and remember to love each other (as Ed said)

I saw them! I loved it! I wish we all had some to throw up in the air! I can't say enough how great that show was. I'm heading to Detroit today! I hope this show has just as much energy as Cleveland did! I have a new opinion of the Gund/Quickens arena now! A positive one this time!

Here's to a fabulous night in Auburn Hills! This is an invitation for Pearl Jam to once again KICK MY ASS! I am so sore from the Cleveland show.

Thought the PJ fans that started the 'Detroit Sucks' chant was in poor taste. Last I checked we were at a Pearl Jam Concert, its about the music and comming together to enjoy something we all love .....PJs Music!!

Anyway who has the last laugh now cavs fans !!

Dont worry you wont hear the Detroit fans chanting 'Cleveland sucks', we leave that on the court.

Don't know if Ed heard it and that's why he threw "we belong together" on the end of Black, but the guy behind me yelled "we belong together" there at the end where it seemed like he was going to stop....and he went with it. :) He yelled for Tremor Christ to no avail...lol.

Me too. Great show even with the Holiday Inn Express check-in fiasco and no beer after 9:00. I think I was standing in front of the only people sitting down. Halfway through the show, the girl taps me on the shoulder, thanks me for ruining her concert and leaves with her crew. I am 5'7" on a good day, plus the three seats in front of me were open. I was shocked.

    Loved the DTE,STBC,Porch combo.

Saturday's show in Cleveland was just incredible. This is probably going to be a long post, however, I hope it is an interesting.

Saturday morning my good Pearl Jam buddy leatherman_8 and I flew from St. Louis. We figured it would be a whole lot cheaper than driving the 9+ hours to get there, and since Southwest was offering $49 to Cleveland and $49 back, it was too good to pass up. So we are getting ready to get on the plane and who goes past us but Don King himself. Don King flys Southwest airlines...how funny is that. I am sure with the troubles he got himself into that $49 looked pretty good to him too. We walk past him on the flight and say hello and everything and move on our way. I know this doesn't relate to Pearl Jam...but it's a interesting side note.

Another interesting side note is before the concert we decided to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Before we even ordered our tickets I told Andy that we would go the Hall of Fame and probably run into Mike. We went down to the lower level where you begin the Hall of Fame and were about to go into this little room to watch a video when Mike walks by us with someone else (turned out to be a Rolling Stone reporter). I said "Oh my God, there's Mike", and proceeded to tell Andy. Andy looked over at him and said "Hey Mike" and he turned around and waved. Knowing this oppertunity won't present itself very often we had to walk up and shake his hand. We didn't really talk to him very much, we just said our hellos, thanks for all the great music, and have a good show tonight. From that point on, the concert floated past us. We were in absolute shock, and couldn't get over it. Hell, I STILL can't get over it. We then proceed to the lake front past the hall of fame (which is just beautiful) to relax and take what had just happened in.

Now, sorry for the detours, onto the venue. We showed up about 1/2 way through soundcheck and heard the band do Smile, MFC, Thumbing My Way, and Mike do the Star Spangled Banner. Before we got in the band played Black, Red, Yellow and U. The show was incredible. Ed came out and did a solo acoustic version of Last Kiss, and then played with My Morning Jacket on a incredible version of It Makes No Difference by The Band.
Betterman was not what I was expecting when they came out. When I saw that Stone had the acoustic out, Ed had his axe on, and that Ed went to a D chord, I thought for sure I would get the long wanted Long Road. I was glad that Betterman got the crowd going early. The new songs still sound amazing. This was my first show hearing Gone so that was easily one of the highlights. That song SOARS live. During Daughter and the jam part I saw Ed pick up his guitar and head for the E Chord and I instantly knew that we were in for a treat with "It's Ok" and was I stoked to hear this one. Not just the "hey hey it's okay" but this was just like the version from TB2000 Jones Beach. It was amazing. An amazing close to the first set of Lukin, Evolution, STBC, and a great version of Porch. During Porch, Ed used the metal on his guitar to reflect light around the arena, much like he used to do with a mirror.
The encore started with seats for everyone put out, and knowing they soundchecked Thumbing My Way, we knew we were heading for that. Wwasted Reprise opened the encore then right into TMY. Inside Job was a real treat. I love the way this song sounds live. Mike was getting into it on this one. The first set concluded with Black and Alive. After a "greatest hits" encore in Chicago night one, it was nice to see a set like this, but I wasn't ready at all for what was coming in the second encore.
The second encore began with a blistering version of Go then Comatose, and like I told Andy and our new Pearl Jam friends from the airport...Comatose has balls live. I love it. Next came U. I was there in St. Louis 2000 when this song got it's live debut and I've been wanting to hear it a lot more regulary. Next came one I have been waiting for for over 6 years to see live. St. Louis since '98 has been promised a Stone song, but it never happened. I was pumped when Ed said that Stone would take the next one and Don't Gimmie No Lip was just amazing. Then came smile, another one I have been waiting years and years to finally hear live. I heard them soundcheck it earlier in the day but wanted it to be legit by hearing it in concert and it was awesome. Why go was insane and Fuckin' Up had the lights on and the sold out Q Arena was going crazy. That was going to be the last song, but Mike picked up his Strat and started Ledbetter and the band decided to stick around for one more. Incredible night, if I find out how to post my pictures (4th row of the section section on the floor, Mikes side) I will do so.

WTF? Thanks you for ruining her concert??? You were suppose to sit because SHE was? That's messed up!!!!!

Where were you that seats were open? I was fifth row stones side, a guy and girl came and sat down after the pre-set (Noel I think) and he told me they weren't his seats, that he was just going to hang there until the real seatholders showed up.....he was there all night. Weird.
