Nice to see a nod to 'IZ'.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

  • the improv/ukelele song was "you're true". he said it was a song he had never tried before, but he did play it at the wiltern on the uke a couple years ago.

such an awesome show, may have been the best i've ever seen. after "inside job" ed told the crowd that mike had written that song while on the islands and mike had to tell him, "no it was the at the borgata". then ed said, "mike doesn't really remember where he wrote that..." funny shit.

  • i want to hear how You're True sounded compared to the last time he played it.
"music is at its best when it has a purpose"

    -EV
  • Ed also played with KOL for their last song and destroyed his tamorines before throwing all the pieces into the crowd.
The Ed and Mike improv was hilarious because Ed called Mike's friend David Wells when his name is really Mike Wells. Then he talked a lot about Man of the Hour and dedicated it to Mike Wells' dad. Then before he played the eukele song he had to call for his book because he forgot it.
    Great show, lots of improv.
    Congrats Andy!

  • i want to hear how You're True sounded compared to the last time he played it.

pretty similar, a couple line changes.

at the wiltern, he sang something close to, "walk the dog and pay rent to ya, if you say the words, 'i'm yours'", but i didn't remember him singing that line last night.

other than that, pretty much the same. it was amazing, can't wait for the boot.
  • Thank you PJ for playing Smile!! I owe Cindy (I think?) from Boston 20 bucks! Way to clean-up the raffle prizes by the way! The D&B pre-party was fun, the show was awesome (16th row center), Eddy was hilarious and wow, Hawaii is beautiful!!!! I'm sitting in the airport waiting for our flight to Kauai, where it is time to relax! Also nice to meet you Jenny (from Omaha) on the bus!

That was an awesome show. They looked like they were having so so so much fun up there! The cake throwing was so funny, singing to Matt was great, the Hawaiian song was beautiful, and the whole vibe was perfect...yay!

That may well be the most memorable show we've been to and we've been to quite a few. It was definitely on the strange side, in a good way. Very laid back and low key. Ed was very chatty and just seemed to be having a very good time and feeling conflicted about the tour being over and just glad to be in Hawaii. This show had some of everything. They started out rocking, then just seemed to hang loose. :) I've certainly never seen a sheet cake thrown before. I knew he was going to throw it, but somehow, still couldn't believe it. Great throw! Porch was awesome, loved the "goof" in Life Wasted, RITFW with Kings of Leon was awesome. Met some great people as usual. So glad we finally made it as we almost didn't. :)
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."
  • The show was just inCREDibile. This is what I remember. I'm trying to digest. It was my first PJ show. After 16 years of being a fan I FINALLY got to see them live. Words just don't describe this show.

Preset (not in order and possibly not complete): Severed Hand (first 30 secnds or so) Love Boat Captain, You Are, Crazy Mary, Hawaii 78, Thin Air, and then the crowd got too loud for me to hear anymore. Thin Air was beautiful.

The show: WOW. 3 hours?!?!? It got out around 12:45a. wow. I cannot wait to buy this boot. I'll see if it's possible to wear out an mp3.

    My new friends-

Vanessa: Thank you SOOOOOOO much for giving me and Sarah her extra 10C tickets. There are no words of thanks sufficient. We lost track of you after the show. If we don't get together at U2, I'll be forced to post threads every week till I find you and can properly thank you.

Jack and Justin: Meeting both of you was just wonderful. And the Mike pick.... man. Did all of that really happen? Thank you soooooo much! I'm also looking forward to hooking back up with you both before the U2 show.

Jerry, Donna, Lisa: Spending time with you all after the show was just the cherry on top. Can't wait to see you again in a few days!

I could post a whole thread of my thoughts on the show, and I think I'm gonna.

  • The cake throwing was great....did any of you girls catch Ed pull up his shirt when the cake started flying????? Yummy indeed. I loved how he threw the towel out after the cake and then asked if anyone needed a fork. He seemed very relaxed. It was great to see him bow down to the service men and women and invited Boom to say a few words about his charity work.
    Congrats Andy!

  • was it a nice night out last night? I SOOOOOO wish I could have been there, such a mind cleanser it could have been! If I only had the money.......if I only had the money........

BTW was it in an ampitheater or outdoors or anything, that would have beenwawesome with all the lights and stuff! I have yet to see a PJ concert yet and I'm hoping they don't take too long off so I can finally see them, but damn they deserve it.

How was U2's performance? I have none of their CD's or anything....In fact I use to hate them back when I was close minded but I've come around to like their earlier stuff alot. I watched a special on DirectTV while they were on their Virtigo tour.

I saw a guy taking a video camera in, and getting checked by security. They ended up letting him in with it. Here's to hoping it turns up. Of course we gotta wait for the SBD audio now.
