  • I drove solo from El Paso, Texas just for the Sunday show and it was soooo worth it.

Everything that's been said about the set/show is quite true. I have my own Stewart Copeland story. After Liam Finn's set I was standing up and noticed Jack Irons when a gray-haired gentleman a few rows in front of me blocked my view to sit down.

The gentleman - Copeland - noticed my Police T-shirt and did a funny double take as if it were the first time he'd seen a Police shirt. A few minutes later I asked him to sign my program which he graciously did. Hey, I'm from outta town so I wasn't gonna play it cool.

I missed getting Jack to sign the program though. Oh well. It was an awesome show. Now I need to catch up on my sleep.

that Ed signed in every city leading up to LA after the shows? Because in LA he did a handshake to 5 people night 1 and had Sniper carry him out over his shoulder night 2.

    just wonderin...

and, yes, Tom "Yankee Fan" Brady was in attendance, on the floor, with Giselle Bundchen

Anyone figure out who gave Ed the Golden Globe from Night 1 yet? The same guy left with Casey Affleck after the night 2 show...
don't know who he was but him and his friends were talking during the whole fucking show!

....so here is a quick rundown

walked into Wiltern on Saturaday night quickly stopped by Rick (ticketing mgr.) upgraded to front row in front of Eddie. I'm SHOCKED! my g/f started crying!
shook Ed's hand after first encore
up against stage for Hard Sun....it felt like 1991 all over again...
At the end of the song Eddie leaned over and gave me his guitar pick as he said, " this is for you, man" ... I stood there frozen...I'm still shocked four days later!!

Nice to meet the other two couples that got upgraded to the front as well
    Thanks Rick
    Thanks Eddie

  • both shows were great. had 10c seats both nights. 4th row stage right on night 1, a few rows back on first level the next. could not have been more pleased. pre-party was cool although we didnt hang too long as the drinks are just too damn expensive in LA, and they wouldnt put PJ on in the bar. how about those $12 beers inside the venue!?!? great theatre though.

hard to tell which show was better. totally different for me as night one had way to many drinks and was rocking out on the floor, night 2 went sober and was back a bit, was great to see Ben Harper and Jack Irons out there to mix it up a bit. arc was a highlight both nights, i didn't expect to enjoy it so much, way better live than i would've guessed

waited for Ed at the end of night two, and as many have mentioned he didn't grace us with any autographs or even a nod for that matter. would be lying to say i wasn't disappointed in his totally lame (but hilarious) move of acting like he was passed out and having his body guard carry him onto his bus for a quick get away. there was too many people waiting, at least 50-75, would've taken him forever if he stopped...but hell at least wave and say thanks!!! either way was funny to see him pulling such a stunt, i'm sure he's got a whole slew of get away plans like that

now if only the ACL rumor would've came true...no clue when i'll see EV/PJ again. praying they announce another leg after the june dates, but not thinking it's likely now

McJuicy...aren't you the guy that I saw stealing Sniper programs from other fans and then screaming footsteps the entire fucking show? You're lucky Eddie didn't hand you out a nice beat down...guess he couldn't smell ya from the 4th row-good thing you didn't have 3rd. I agree with this...especially re: arc. I am NOT a fan of the cd version, don't consider it a "song" but it was so great live. just unique and gave me chills to hear Eddie singing like that.

What a fucking great show ! Waiting for Ed till 2 hours of the morning, he appears carried by his bodyguard on his shoulder ! Funny, we saw Ben Harper too and a lot of assholes waiting for them too, heard someone in the line said "wahouu the police drummer was cool " Hahaha. Special hello to the israelian girl, I was one of the 5 french guys at the 2 shows. And now a fact, the europeean and south american audience rocks more than LA audience, they really don't deserve rock show especially Vedder, oblige to speak like a daddy for calmin down assholes screaming all along the show and unable to give love and powerfull singing. Ed is definitely the man of the hour

Sunday night turned out to be the most amazing night of my life. After getting shut out of the Fan Club and Ticketmaster... I bought overpriced tickets on stub hub. They were in the Mezz... but I was just so happy that I was going to be in attendance for this performance. I flew out from NYC, because who knew when the next time this sort of show was going to happen again.
After we got our posters and went and checked out our seats, we went back down to the lobby to have a beer and hang out before Liam took the stage. As we were returning to our seats, we were stopped... by this man who turned out to be an angel sent from heaven.. asking us to change our tickets. I first got all New Yorker on him, and then realized that this was not a joke. Moments later I was being escorted to the very center of the FRONT row. My heart was in my throat trying to grasp what was happening. I was basically freaking out through all of Liam's (great) set. My cheeks were starting to hurt from the large goofy smile on my face.

Eddie was AMAZING. Like everyone else wrote in previous posts.. it was such a powerful evening. The songs, the stories, singing happy birthday, Ben Harper, Jack Irons.... all just so great.
It was upsetting when Eddie was in the middle of telling a story and idiots would interupt with nonsense comments. He already asked you to shut the fuck up! Why must people be so disrespectful. No one wants to hear you! No one cares that you want to hear Footsteps and Immortality!!

My personal favorite moment was at the end of Porch...right before he went back stage he reached down and held out his pic directly at me. I think I froze for a second not realizing what was going on... and then I slowly (it seemed like slow motion to me) walked up and he put the pic in my hand. WHAT!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!! I still think back and I can't even believe that happened!

I am going to be saying my favorite "Magic" word for a long time!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

[I always forget to check/look in this forum, sorry for the re-post from Porch!]

Well damn.. what a weekend. I haven't even unpacked yet and I'm still trying to fully absorb everything that happened. I know this is a common occurrence among us... so many names, faces and experiences.. it's hard to keep track of them all. I think next time around I'm going to start journaling everything.

Me & Jeannette's flight out was relatively harmless, despite flying American (and them canceling over 1800 flights last week), and the ants-in-his-pants dude that poor Jeannette got stuck sitting next to. We left the 40 degree Chicago weather and were treated to the 85 degree weather in LA. Of course, the weatherman said that it was going to be "unseasonably warm" in LA for this time of year, kind of like Chicago in the summer. Oh.. the irony.

Have to mention our 2008 red convertible Mustang rental with 32 miles on it. DAMN sweet ride!!! Then.... first turn away from Enterprise, we got to rock the ULTIMATE Jack in the Box yumminess! Seriously, that is the ultimate shit.

With some help from GPS, we found the Ramada w/hardly any problem at all. Awesome and huge props to Janet/pearlgirl2010 who hooked up the group rate to the hotel. It was only 2 blocks from the Wiltern and couldn't have been any more convenient. The only annoying thing at 11:30 PM was that the counter dude, Kim, took....a.......super......long.....time.....checking......us......in! And could've also used a refresher class in English 101. But, whatev, we got all checked in and had a mini-fridge in our room, which rocked.

We hit up Ralph's, scored a big ass bottle of Absolut for a sale price of $24.99 and partied back at the room with Linda/GTFLYGIRL & Angie/Articangel. Angie didn't stay too long as she was wiped. J fell asleep after some vodkaness and Linda and I stayed up until 5:30 am. Linda, ya killed me! Note to self... next time get a leetle more sleep before a crazy weekend.

Saturday morning we hit up Melrose for some shopping. Lots of cute stores for skinny people and a really great Japan/Anime store where I picked up a Kuromi purse and some Hello Kitty souvenirs for my little girlie back home.

    Fundraisers
Headed back to the hotel w/some Starbucks, met up with Eric/ECM & Becky and got our shit going. Met up with Janet/pearlgirl2010, who was gorgeous as always and got to Opus, which thankfully was right next door.

Opus was a little more foofy than I expected, and the drinks were not cheap, but it was convenient and no one had to drink and drive, which is a priority. It looked like we wouldn't have been able to fit a lot of people, but surprisingly though it was crowded, there was still room to move.

Andrea from the Surfrider Foundation - West LA/Malibu chapter was on hand to help and was really nice and friendly, and definitely easy on the eyes. Yowzer! Apparantly the boy has had an appearance on Sex and the City in his skivvies and a few fragrance ads. Ahem. Anyway...Lemont at Opus was a big help and we were able to set up two 6' tables and two other smaller tables for the auction items.

The fundraisers were fabulous. I can not say enough times what a HUGE help SENROCK! & PJPixie were. They worked the table both days with a vengeance and basically ran the whole damn thing. Without them, the fundraisers wouldn't have been nearly as successful as they were. And.. these ladies did not even have tickets. They rocked.

Day one had Sen, Pixie, Chloe, Janet, Kathy TFT, and a few other people (I forgot your names.. I'm so sorry! :( ) helping out behind the table. Sen brought in her Ed paintings and they were gorgeous, bringing in over $100 each for the auctions. Carin, the little cutie, brought her yummy Chocolate for Change chocolate bars that were deeelish. KingJeremy & danieladb (another tall gorgeous one) were sweeties and Jeremy had donated a ton of stuff. Wilds and a bunch of other people who had donated items ended up winning some items in return from the raffle. My longtime motto applied... karma. Give out positivity and goodness and it comes back tenfold. Got to see bgirl, Melissa/ozark, Anthony, always gorgeous Sam/LukinTimer & Lori, "little buddy" Monica (I love you! LOL), Cali Joe, Newfie Joe & Jason lookin all spiffy in a tie!; Mic, Patrick, adorable Lydia & Dolly, Amy, Sandra/Pegasus, Seline, Joe/Solat13 (I'm vaulted!), and bunches and bunches of other people again. It was and always is like a family reunion you actually WANT to be at.

Speaking of family, jaamfan... I happened on your daughter again at a later point in the ladies room, and we have a plan to woo and convince you to go in for the eastern tour.. muwahaahaahaaaaa!!

For the first time I got to meet nfanel (who should be a model), sweet adeline (who should also model), Enkidu who is the sweetest girl ever and hooked up Monica from Mexico with a ticket for night two, Demetrios who was an absolute sweetheart and let me win the Yield shirt (that I ended up wearing night 2) that Jeremy donated, in the auction; Charlie from Australia, (sadly I missed meeting Chris from Oz.. where were you at!?), Lizard and a few others who I didn't get to talk to nearly enough, Tom & Patty from Detroit who will be replacing Nixon for their fun times and partying ways (hah!), and so so many other people that I can't even keep track of.

If there was a downside to any of this, it's that when you do these things there isn't nearly enough time to sit down and actually get to talk to people. It's more like a quick "hey", a quickie convo, then having to run off or get pulled off by something. But again, with Sen & Pixie rockin the table, I was thankful to be able to mingle w/more people than normal.

We ended up raising $2,017 for night one and $1,708 for night two; when combined with the Surfrider's funds, a grand total of $3,878. Damn.

Arc on Saturday. Wow. Just wow. I haven't had a full body tingle like that in.........ever. MOTH had me sobbing embarrassingly on the phone with my mom. That man can pull emotion out of me like no one's business.

After the show Saturday night had everyone looking for things to do, since apparently there aren't many places to go to in LA that do not require a car. We ended up at Denny's and then back at our room where Eric passed out cause he got shitfaced. :D heh.

On Sunday morning, Janet took Jeannette, Eric, Becky, Tom, Patty, Seline, Charlie, Joe, and a few others down to Santa Monica pier. Convertible top down, Mustang style! We got to stick our toes in the chilly but refreshing Pacific ocean and see the tragic sad memorial to the war victims. I hated reading the death toll list. There were so many names that had "child" under the age. Ugh. NO MORE WAR. :(

We headed back after to get ready for the party and someone made the mistake of leaving me alone w/the bottle of Absolut. So um, sorry to anyone I was overly lovey with :o I do, though, love you all! I was a, um, wee bit late to the party, which was again mega-successful. Joey rocked the Klausen Ed Kenyon Hall poster auction for $475. Karma came back and rocked Joey in front of the stage, right in front of Ed. I want copies of those pics!

We made a sign to let Ed know how much $ was raised on his behalf for Surfrider.. at the encore, we went up front and he read it during the set. Thanks Ed!

Sunday night after the show was the shit...we went down Wilshire to the Brass Monkey and partied it up karaoke style!

I have photos. And videos. heh.

  • The sweeper in the mask was at Berk one and two, I originally thought it was ed but the pants gave it away, it's liam.

During the first encore of berk two the curtains closed behind ed and he was waving and wiping what were perhaps tears from his face the masked sweeper opened the curtains and grabbed ed and pulled him behind the curtains.

There's no way it was Liam sweeping at the LA2 show. Liam is from middle earth, aka new zealand and very hobbit-like - 5'4" tops. Not only the pants gave it away as not being Ed but also the height. I've never seen Ed looking so big as when he's standing next to or hugging Liam. Whoever was sweeping was much more "average" height for a male human.

It may have been Liam in Berkley, but certainly not in LA.
  • These two shows were great! I got to see so many people I have not seen in a long time like the crazy Canadians, especially Mr. Hollywood!! I got see one of half of my "boys" from Sweden! lol Glad, I shared my 10C ticket with Petter. Oh, yeah Dirty Tom from Detroit ROCKS!!

Always nice to see you Laura and everyone else!! ;)

But the best part of this whole Ed Vedder show was hanging out with Evil Closet Monkey! Traveling with him for 5 Ed Vedder shows was a TOTALLY AWESOME experience. I learned so much. The Monkey educated me on so many different things. I am convinced that he is the most awesome pearl jam fan ever! He is wonderful, great, amazing, and totally AWESOME!!!!! :D LMAO

Oh how I miss these Ed Vedder shows!

I don't think that song is on the 'Into The Wild' soundtrack... is it?
and that guitar part at the end... doesn't it sound like something Pete Townshend would have written? to me... it sounds like something that could easilt fit in on 'Tommy'.
Ed has gotten to be a pretty good guitarist.
Felt like I was watchin a solo Pete Townshend show at times.

:D LMAO
