The only thing "Betterman" is good for is a bathroom break!!!! They need to retire the song. I am so sick of it.

went to Hartford last night and to Mansfield tonight and have to say last night was the better show. I was surprised by this but had a great time at both! Was good to hear Low Light, Hard to Imagine, Faithful but could have lived without seeing Evenflow, Alive, and Why Go for the second night in a row!

This was my 5th show of tour. It was a fast heavy show, but pretty paint by numbers.
That being said, it is a brutal building to break curfew in. 10 minutes over you forfeit your entire fee.

It was a fun show. Loud crowd. A comment from Ed that it would be an "endurance test" than get 2:10 is suspect but to be expected here.

I also would have expected a more colorful setlist after hartford, but it really was a greatest hit show.
I love I got Shit and alot of people are psyched for lowlight (YAWWWN)

but at least a once came out of it.
As for Monday my guess would be 2:10 again with a set more like MSG II.

Both NY shows were killer, but if you are a Neil Young fan...Hartford has stolen the tour. Also I would have liked Immortality to make a 2nd appearance, but not to be.

Bummer about Porch and Indifference, 8 minutes worth of music that would have made a difference between a solid B and a A show!!!!

I was shocked that they actually cut Ed off what assholes. I saw Dave on Wednesday night at the exact same place and they caught to play at until 11: 20/30 somewhere around there. I hope Pearl Jam plays longer on Monday. My opinion on it, I know Pearl Jam wanted to play longer so it is not their fault, but if the venue doesn't accommodate your act, then don't play it. Even though I did enjoy the show, I feel selfish for being a little let down.

eddie was not too happy tonight. hurled his bottle against the backdrop. my take was that he was having issues with some of the speakers on stage. kept pointing at different areas on the stage and a technician kept running out to try to help. at one point ed kinda shooed him away. he was not too happy.

the betterman moment that has been mentioned was special. a had to be there type deal.

    see ya'll monday.

Also, the betterman thing was unreal. I have seen them play it several times and have about 200+ bootlegs, this was different and special. You really have to hear it to believe it.

Yes exactly. Not only was it amazing, but it was really funny. We were cracking up (I was near the front, but I'll write about that tomorrow) and so was Ed. About 3 times he took a deep breath to go into the oh-oh-ohhhhhhh part, and then stopped because the crowd was so loud. It just took on a life of it was on and was very cool. I need to go try to get 5 hours of sleep before leaving tomorrow.

Daughter on the list - Crossed out, State of Love and Trust played instead- Thank God...

There's a rare example of an Ed cross-out in the right direction.

Amen. This is generally the worst song they play each night. I don't know why people cheer for this. This is definitely the worst song in the PJ catalog

OK! First off, I've got to say, tenclub kicks all ass!! My number is ridiculously high, and I'm happy to be in the vicinity of this amazing band...BUT, I won the lottery!!! I pick up my tickets, and look and go 'hmm, section 2, row b. Sounds ok?' I honest to god had no clue!!! A friend I tell says 'Um, hunny, those are excellent seats. Like 2nd row excellent'. I can't believe it yet, so I walk up to a security guy and ask for a seating chart. He tells me that if I need to know where me seats are he can tell me. So I tell him. He says ' well, you're sitting 2 rows in front of the stage, hun.'. I immediately fall on the ground crying. No way!!! Seriously?! I wander around like a manic depressive for the nex hour, alternately laughing and crying. THEN comes time to get to the seats...ignoring the beer line issue (which WAS a huge issue, since they make everyone dump their beer in the lot) I move on...walk down the ramp toward the stage (something new for me!) and look for row b. I am lead to the end of row 1, in the second row. I sit down and cry...there was a lot of crying! I thank everyone that was in section 2 rows a,b,c,d,e for being so fuckin cool and not totally making fun of me. AND the guys behind me who let me and my friends purses be safe on our seats. Lord knows I was not thinking of ANYTHING once the show started. I couldn't even take pics, but my friend took a ton for me.

On to the show! I was in shock during the first few songs, but some seriously amazing moments occured. In no particular order, betterman w save it for later tag...wow. Black w we belong together in there. What a moment! Come back felt extremely emotional, especially to me at this particular show.

HUGE moment for me. Rvm, Mike makes eye contact w me, I give him the 'I love you' gand gesture, he flashes the rock horns and looks at his hand, at mine, at his and adjusts to the 'I love you' points to me and tosses his pick. Turns around to pick up another and then looks over to me, points again to me asking if I got it. OH yeah I did!!! Ty security guy 484, you are the fuckin MAN, handing me the pick, as it had fallen, AND giving me your water. You rocked right along with us!

No more was fantastic. Love reign over me was an unreal cover. Boom rocked it, the crowd LOVED it.

Betterman - the pause when Eddie let the crowd wait. Watching him laugh and saying 'Fuck you! What the fuck?!' I was just grinning ear to ear.

I didn't stop jumping at any point except during come back and reign and no more. I have blisters, my legs are cramping, I'm covered in sweat. I will remember this show for the REST OF MY LIFE. Thank you thank you thank you tenclub for being the best fanclub of the best band IN THE WORLD. I love you all.
Underneath this smile lies everything...How I choose to feel, is how I AM!

Youre a Moron. Its from Eds heart. It gives the crowd their second wind, whether a piss break or a sing a long. Im more for rarities myself, but your a douche...

the comment that if the venue cannot accomodate your band dont play it, is right on.
I have been going to Great Woods since I was 15 (22 years ago) and I like the place, but that being said, I know going in I am going to leave with a show shortened by a minimum of 15 minutes unless the show starts at 630.
Just the way it is. And it is doubtful it will be different on Monday.

11:00 00...thank you and good night...or you play for free

You must have downsyndrome. Worst song in the entire catalog?? I can understand why you wouldnt want to hear it every night, I really do. But, it is good for the band, it helps sell records to this day. Be happy for the boys. Its definitely not their worst song...

That cant be right? Either way, they need to cut Ted Leo down to 20 minutes and start 20 minutes earlier... unfortunately the only way to do it right it would seem...

Well... let me start by saying this was my 12th show... not the best, but not by any means bad. Great standard list with some surprises... I think the venue was the reason behind the short gig.

SO... I brought my friend Kristin to her first PJ show... and she fucking loved it. She is now a die hard fan, and we will be seeing her at many more shows to come.

The only downer of the night was a couple of tools that were seat hopping and ended up next to me for a few songs at the beginning of the show and then again at the end. They were drunk and acting like a bunch of jackasses which no one was impressed with... and to top it all off they tried to steal my PJ bag I had just bought which had my shirt in it. Fucking morons... I was able to grab them before they got away with it and they tried to play it off like they didn't know it was mine... oh well... always a couple bad apples out there I suppose.

And as for Betterman, if you weren't there... get the boot just for that... LEGENDARY!!!

Rayne...you didn't win the lottery........those are your new 10c seat locations forever!!! =) anyway that's awesome and congrat's on getting chosen. It's nice to have "new" energy and emotion up front...though I was not there. You should forward your thank you to the 10c. I'm sure Tim and the gang would love to read it considering all the negative complainers they deal with.

The PJ lottery is a success..............

This was the best show ever, for me....
(in order to give...credibility...to this post?..well, i fell the need to give some "credenitals". -this was my 16th show.)
I've never felt the need to post about a show before-save for maybe Buffalo 03)

seen all the boston shows. been to msg...etc.

yup, Never seem anything like this one.

They were spot on with everything tonight.
forget the 11pm cut off. i was hartford last night. they played until almost midnight....
big deal. yes, it was a varied setlist, and a good show.
it was nothing like "mansfield 1 08"
tonight was off the charts good!!!!!!

    the crowd.
    the band.

the betterman...you had to be there for this.
i think eddie was willing to let the crowd sing the entire song -with him on guitar. (the crowd was ready) it seemed. then, mid -song, there was a moment. we all just got lost in the moment.....and in the end. eddie finished it off. it was truly classic.
If there was a ever a time when the crowd was going to take a song from start to finish- this might have been it.
the end result may have turned out "better" though, (no pun)

maybe it was just me. just my experience. I'll be interested in reading the reviews....
of course every show is different for eveyone.
but, as a whole, this was hard to top for many reasons...

having said all that; its a shame that people that werern't at the show are already imposing their opinions under the "official review" before the actual reviews come in. "The setllist wasn't this" or "the length of the show wasn't that" - "they cut it off abrutly at 11"??
well, it seemd like they play for hours.

Lastly, (again my opinion)- i don't think ed threw the wine bottle because he was pissed.....

Thanks for a great night Pearl Jam, and to all the great fans- PEACE
    Seek my part, devote myself..

Let me just state first off, a huge thank you to 10c for allowing me to be about 10 rows back from the stage tonight via the random lottery this year. I was center section, but veering to the left side, so I was in a prime spot to see Mr. Fucking Flowmaster Extrodinaire tearing it up this evening. I never actually thought with only being a member five years and with a number of 305xxx, and not to mention Mansfield always being a huge draw, that I'd actually win this lottery. It was a major good time, and i had brought my friend who was, for him, having his first go at a Pearl Jam concert. The amazing seats certainly helped make the experience that more enjoyable, and solidify his being hooked into PJ.

well being at hartford last night and here tonight, i'd give the nod setlist-wise to last night, but the crowd was pure energy tonight -- absolutely ridiculous. and, as someone mentioned, the pounding on the seats and pure loudness during the pause in betterman was deafening. Eddie was smiling like crazy, looking back at the band members, who were equally as impressed by the level of noise. although setlist-wise, again, it was a treat last night and more of a standard list tonight, it was a real treat to hear love reign a second time this year. it sounds better the more they perform it, too.

on a side note, it's nice to see random drawings like this -- i was seated next to a guy whose number was around 360xxx, and was absolutely psyched to be there. Knew all the words, and probably had more energy than some of the -- no offense -- fossils that have been up front since 1991. I heard someone complaining in front of me, and saw some people bolt when even flow came on, so they could take a piss. As far as i'm concerned, keep mixing the tix up every tour like now, because there are plenty of 10c'ers who would kill for the opportunity that i had tonight that'd appreciate it more than some of the people / behavior i saw from the veterans tonight.

    Thanks 10c!
