Yeah, I've dated guys with foreskin who presented none of those issues at all (not trying to say that all dudes with foreskin have gross cheesy dicks, lol!). Others, however ... let's just say it's a risk and can present problems in some cases! I would personally not want to leave it up to chance for my son - I would do the the snip-snip myself.

I am surprised at some of the heated responses about circumcision. I think in America it is a cultural thing, as well as religious. As a nurse I have assisted in circumcision (it takes about 10 seconds so there isn't much "assisting" to do) and I have also supported parents who choose NOT to circumcise. And while circumcision is unnecessary for a child's well being, I would hardly assimilate it to female circumcision.

Just to pose a question -- to those of you who think it is not okay for a parent to choose -- how do you feel about parents choosing to have their child's ears pierced? Or choosing to vaccinate?

Or, in my own situation, my daughter was born with a series of skin tags along her face/jaw (made of both soft tissue, and a few with cartilage in them). Her ear was slightly deformed. When she was old enough to be cleared for surgery (less than one year old), her father and I elected to have the skin tags removed and her ear reconstructed. We did not want her to be made fun of through her childhood years because she looked different, and we knew if we did the surgery early, she would not remember it. Was that barbaric?

And as an aside, I would not judge a parent with a child who had the same deformity and opted for no surgery. This was just the right choice for us in our specific situation.

The foreskin isn't a deformity and other than Jews and Muslims cutting it because their imaginary friend in the sky told them to, the rest of the world outside the US manages to get by without chopping off normal bits of healthy tissue from newborn babies.

Personally I think you are just looking for an argument. Sorry, that's the way I see it. For people that believe in a higher power that person in the sky is far from "imaginary" and even inferring that is nothing but disrespectful to them and their beliefs. You don't believe in circumcision? Great. Don't do it and don't do it to your children. But to keep sitting here trying to push your beliefs on others on a PJ message board isn't going to accomplish anything. Your time ,seriously, would be much better spent and far more productive banging your head on a wall.

I'll discuss anything but when you want to insult people's beliefs as some "imaginary" person in the sky that's not discussing. When you want to push your beliefs on other people basically demeaning them and saying your way is the only right way...that's not discussing that's insulting. And upon thinking about it. You're right. All religion is ridiculous (thanks for the heads up I'll get the word out for you) and circumcision is bad (I'll also get the word out). You have opened my eyes to your way. Everyone else is wrong but you. Hallelujah I have seen the light. My world is so much clearer today.

You can believe in what you want, be it Santa Claus, the lochness monster, the flying spaghetti monster or even god for all I care but once you use those unfounded beliefs to affect the lives of others then a line has been crossed. Keep your religion to yourself and don't use it to justify actions that hurt others.

I'm not talking about you personally. I don't care what religion you are. I'm talking about anybody that uses religion as their excuse for harming another person. "You" as in any other general person.

well...from what I've been told and may or may not have observed.., I believe leaving it intact enhances sensation.

Every time I think about circumcision I can't help but think about those poor little dogs who have their ears cropped and taped up so they'll stand up and look the way we think their supposed to :(
