things just got interesting Cate....cards up 2 games to 1, so that essentially guarantees a return to st louis if the cards lose at least one of the next 2 games...we will have a better idea after tomorrow night's game...travel safe!

hey, catefrances, nice to hear news from you, man-on-the-road! (I've been gone awhile myself- disappeared into the forest for a week). Washington State- oh man, you're making me homesick. And Chicgo- great town! And St. Loius (Go Cards)! Where next?

i have to say the trip from ellensburg to seattle was as boring as any other til we hit the mountains.. then i lost my mind. i always knew id love seattle and that was confirmed coming through snoqualmie pass.. i thought any city secreted behind these mountains has to be a gem. those mountains and all those friggin trees! a car drove past with a dead deer strapped to the roof.. that was icky but considering all the welcome hunter signs and deer warnings id seen before, not really a surprise. seeing the sun SET over puget sound was a treat as well.. dont ggt to see the sun set over water where i come from(this is only the 2nd time ever)... but it is basically the same body of water my sun rises over at home. kinda cool. i knew going to seattle i wasnt giving myself nearly enough time, but i was there to see ryan adams @ benaroya. a bonus being the nirvana:bringing punk to the masses exhibition at EMP. both were well worth the trip. and i would suggest to anyone with the means, and an interest in the history of music, to check the latter out. i spent hours inside the EMP. as for mr adams... he was totally ON friday night. ive seen him several times and never has he been this entertaining. it was a joy... especially when he described the hall as like the inside of that jarwah robot machine thingy(i cant remember his exact words). he was right, the shape did remind one of that. ive never been in a room where the acioustics were so good. it made me understand the pj @ benaroya CD better. listening to that used to annoy me cause the crowd was so loud and so crystal clear.. now i understand why... not that itll annoy me any less but...

so yesterday afternoon we went for a wander around calvary cemetery. makes me think some people had more money than sense considering some of the monuments we saw. it started to rain so we didnt get as far as dred scotts resting place but did see general shermans. also saw the grave of a man who fought in the spanish american war... and another for a woman who died at 105!! and for the first time ever, i ran out of battery power and had no backup.
anyhoo im off now to soak up some world series atmosphere downtown. bye.

well after what turned out to be an exciting week in st louis, im off to massachusetts. im understanding baseball a bit more now but im sorry football here is just lost on me. i tried to understand but its a lost cause... twas thrown for a loop whilst drinking at the casino saturday night... at a designated hour they took our drinks off us.. very uncivilised i thought. found a couple of very lovely cemeteries.. saw william shermans grave.. and william burroughs. saw many civil war veterans graves also as well as that of adolphus busch and more obelisks than even freud would be ok analysing. bye st loo.

no kidding...hell of a holiday
yeah it has been one hell of a ride. so glad therell be no more bus rides. ill be training it from mass to LA next week via chicago. theres quite a layover in chicago so im hoping to see more than just the inside of the train terminal. throughout the trip ive been glad to get on the bus to go to the next place but monday afternoon leaving st loo put me in a bit of a funk that i didnt get out of til cleveland. meeting great peeps along the way(especially when youve been looking forward to it and they dont turn out to be douchbags.. not that you thoguht they would but..) is a fantastic bonus... and it makes it difficult to move on to the next place no matter how much you want to be in that next place. im going outside to walk in the snow barefoot now.
p.s. this morning i saw my very first real life cardinal(that wasnt a baseball player)

SO it seems your little adventure has given you a bit of everything?
enjoy the train ride back west. You'll have more freedom of movement while getting to see more of the countryside as opposed to just the interstate.
