Well, maybe they could've gone without All the Way....that was corny as hell...but I hate the Cubs :-)

When else would they ever play it?!

I mean, it seems like they are attempting to play their WHOLE catalogue. Dusting everything off.

Now, I'm not one for collecting shows aka I don't care what rare bsides they play. They can play whatever the hell they want. They are one of the best live bands of all time. So I don't care what they decide to play. But hearing "All the Way" in the walls of Wrigley Field has to rank up there as "special moments" for the band. Is there anything else one could compare that to?

As a Brewers fan, I'll admit I thought the 'All the Way' moment at Wrigley was amazing. I think "sports songs" in general tend to have a higher probability of being horrible, but I enjoy the song All the Way. When Eddie told the story of growing up as a Cubs fan, and they brought out Ernie Banks, and the fact that this went down IN FRIGGIN' WRIGLEY, it was pretty emotional. Far from corny IMO.

I'd also wager, what team means more to their city than the Cubs?

The Bears are more important to Chicago than the Cubs...and even in the last decade the Blackhawks are bigger. The Cubs are only relevant because of Wrigley, which is why they can never leave....you go to a game to experience the ballpark, not the "loveable loser" team that plays there. Now granted, the world might stop spinning on its axis IF the Cubs were ever to win a World Series...and that is mostly because of the worldwide fanbase they have built up from WGN games, Harry Caray, Wrigley, and the aforementioned loveable loser status.

    Rant over....like I said I hate the Cubs :-)

The Cubs mean more to Chicago than the Bears and the Blackhawks.

The "lovable loser" thing is what makes them iconic. Their stadium is what makes them loved. It's a package deal.

I'm sorry, at least half the city could care less about the cubbies. We have an original six hockey team and George Halas practically invented the NFL. It's a damn shame what they did to Soldier Field.

An original six team that didn't matter for 50 years until Kane and Toews showed up. And a football team that holds onto Halas and 85. But yet the Cubs are internationally known.

Sorry gang, the US tour has been cancelled. Ed just said that there's no way they'll be able to top tonight's setlist in Leeds.

...kidding, of course they will! This band never ceases to amaze. Excited for October!!!

Looks like a great show in Leeds today. Hope tremor Christ didn't kill Vant's mood too much.

Honest question: would you rather have a show of rarities or a show with well known songs where the crowd is in to it? No middle ground on your answers! :-)

So, the show of rarities equals no crowd energy?

You kind of loaded that question.

Assume the crowd owns the greatest hits CD and Lightning Bolt.

That's a great question. I'd have to answer that personally I'd enjoy a show of rarities, similar to what was just dropped at Leeds. It's those "holy shit" moments that really surprise me with this band, the "I can't believe they're treating the hardcore fans to THAT" songs.

It sure would suck to not have the crowd into it (could you imagine 'Alive' with no fist-pumping "yeah" part at the end?), but that element of surprise is what gets me off these days during the live show.
I realize that a show like this would likely upset the majority of the crowd, so... Sorry majority! I'd rather have the rare treats for the fans who've stuck with PJ thru the years, almost as an acknowledgement from the band that yeah we're gonna reward ya for your dedication.

I'd take a show with rarities too.

I think the band should do fan club shows again. They can throw out the rarities then. ;-)

In the land of selfishness, give me a 4 hour, 45 song performance that includes 20 rarities and 25 "standards". I mean, they keep one-upping themselves from show to show, so by the end of the fall tour we may just be at a show that is 3.5hrs plus
