Amsterdam has a nice space, and they have some good ideas for their own happy hours/use of music. It seems like the kind of place that might be receptive to your plans.

Several other restaurants have been in that space over the years and for one reason or another they don't make it. I think Amsterdam has been going for a few years now and I'm crossing my fingers that downtown St. Paul in general is making a comeback.

A few of us checked it out Friday and talked to the owner. It's perfect. We had all been there before our recon visit, but nonetheless, it is going to be awesome there.

Eleven years ago today was my first Pearl Jam concert.

I had just graduated high school and was having "The Summer of Derek" before I was off to college. The Pearl Jam show was certainly the highlight of the summer and probably up to that point, the best concert I had seen. I went with my two best friends from high school, Nick and Libby Nelson. They are twins. Libby and I (and diddy) saw Pearl Jam in Atlanta in '012. Anyway, we were in the upper deck corner on Stone's side (didn't know what that meant at the time). We wasted time and didn't jump on tickets, and that's why I thought we ended up in the bleeders. I didn;t get a poster or a sticker. I wasn't aware that was something back then. I bought a shirt and had a blast rocking out. I didn't realize Pearl Jam had such a fanatic fanclub and people actually traveled to different cities to see the band. Just to see the band Oh, how young I was. The concert was amazing. Obviously. Of the Girl, Evenflow, Bushleaguer, Black, Leaving Here, Lukin, Yellow Ledbetter. I remember just being blown away that we were in the same room as this legendary voice and I was hearing it in person.

When I think back about that concert now, I think about how special it is that this community is united by this band and one can search out and find people who were at the same show. Maybe for the first time. I doubt people talk about being at the same movie in the same theatre at the same time years later. But a "hey, I was at that show, too" seems to be a common statement made between us all.

Cheers to us! Cheers to St. Paul 03! Cheers to Pearl Jam!

Amazing show! I rolled a golf cart at a golf charity event and bought the golf cart right before the concert. I will never forget my 1st.

That set looked amazing last night. Breakerfall, All Night, WHO YOU ARE, Light Years, EVACU-FRIGGIN-ATION!! Low Light, Thin Air, Footsteps, Sonic Reducer. Oof - this one looked awesome. Maybe they're not for everyone, but personally I'd love to see Who You Are and Evacuation.

Reading the comments was a total bummer though - I really hate to say it, but what a bunch of whiners. I really hope we bring it in October. Sometimes things aren't perfect - crowds can be lame, Ed's voice can be off, set lists don't go the way you want... at the end of the night, I just hope we all have a killer time and realize just how good we have it with this band.

I almost saw both in one night - Wash DC '08. I say almost because they evacuated Evacuation about a minute into the song. Who You Are was really fuckin sweet though!

I hope I get four different openers this fall.

My picks would be Release in Lincoln, Hard to Imagine in Moline, Long Road in St. Paul, and Why Go in Denver.

That order specifically. look for the hidden meanings

What a treat for them. I read that statement originally as "the dogs eat shit twice on our walk..."
