Hope everyone has safe travels today! My bus got clipped on 36 and forced into a side snow bank up against a guardrail. It was just a bump, but enough to leave us stuck and the car who clipped us didn't even stop :nono: so, when a new bus pulled up, we had to jump the guardrail to get out and on to the next bus. woo hoo.. wish i could've just worked from home today. :fp:

Does anyone in the band snowboard or ski? If so, Minnesota is perfect for you now. :-)

    I distinctly remember a PJ20 promo w/Mike McCready a snowboard:
    http://youtu.be/GE-xR4otVYo
    http://youtu.be/O0Bj823fPWU

Always wanted one of their jackets for when I ride. Mine's nearly 20 years old now! Well overdue for a new one...

And here's an old story that talks about Jeff snowboarding Europe: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=108966

Snow day today? Afton open yet?

    Rumors?

    Anything new?

Or just the Matt-not-playing-with-Soundgarden + radio-station-contest-rumor-from-KC + general rumors this time of year?

Yea, that's about it. :-) I may be running on some blind faith, but those are encouraging signs and shows some possible movement toward shows.

I think there'll be some shows. If for no other reason, Matt's announcement. They'll play BDO in Aus/NZ, which ends on February 2, 2014. Probably take some time off, announce shows in March for the US (shows starting in May?), heading into Europe beginning in June/July.

That would fall in line with their recent tour trends.

Whatever it is, I do think they'll play US shows next year. Make what you want of this: they've played at least 2 US shows (often far more than that) EVERY YEAR they've been a band. The locations aren't always as varied as we'd like, but most years, they do more than 10 shows. The coasts got hit hard this tour, and in 2012 there weren't that many US shows. I think the midwest is due. Even if it's not a tour with a MN show, I think we'll get something close. I'd be thrilled with something like a Milwaukee or Des Moines show.

I had a dream a few weeks ago about getting that email and seeing "St. Paul" listed for shows. The nightmare part about the dream? Getting shut out of the lottery for it!:lol::lol:

.. goodness, that would mean both you and Hannah would lose out on your lottery tix. Getting two chances at lottery is the whole point of double household memberships! I bet the silver lining to that nightmare, though, is that both Derek and I win the lotto and we give you my set of tix ;)

What was your first concert experience?

Mine was Edgefest 4 at Floatrite Amphitheater in Somerset in May of 1997. I had just turned 14, and my parents' friend had a son who was a few years older and kind of a loner and had an extra ticket. So I got to go for free.

Here was the lineup: Beck, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Sponge, Social Distortion, Reverend Horton Heat, Local H, Verve Pipe, Tonic, Better Than Ezra, Republica, Linda Perry, Matchbox 20, Bloodhound Gang, Perfect, Skunk Anansie, Flipp, Likehell, Greazy Meal, Treadmill Trackstar, Cowboy Mouth.

What a lineup of 90s bands! I remember Beck being cool, seeing the Bloodhound Gang, hating Flipp, loving Sponge and LOVING Matchbox 20.

My first real concert experience (meaning one I initiated myself, bought tickets for on my own etc) was Rage Against the Machine at Target Center in September of 1997 (pretty sure it was the second day of school, freshman year). Zack De La Rocha had sprained his ankle earlier in the tour, Wu-Tang Clan had cancelled, everyone was sure the show would be subdued or suck etc.

It was phenomenal. I still remember thinking I was going to die on the floor. People had jumped down from the 100 level reserved seats and so the floor was too tightly packed. It was made much worse due to the fact that Evil Empire was really popular and people were super eager to see them.

    What's yours?

By the way, even just looking up information about concerts from the 90s is like a travel back in time to a simpler time on the internet, where domain names included percent signs, things like "Angelfire" and "Geocities" were real companies, there were four fonts available, colors were ridiculously vibrant and loud, photos had pixels as large as checkerboard squares, and providing useful, current information was still a thing left to radio, TV or newspapers. I found a Flipp fan site that should be in a museum.

    Crazy!
