I did 13 Euro 2006 shows, and 8 US 2008 (Virginia Beach, and then the last 7). Milan 2006 was a greatest hits setlist but one of the best PJ shows I ever saw. In fact, that whole Italian run was great. But Camden 1 in 2008 blew me away, too. And I got to hear Wash in Boston in 2008, which was a dream come true as well!
My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.
The spectrum shows sucked? Night 4 was absolutely epic. The crowd was fucking electric and night two was amazing also.
Yeah, they sucked. They were sloppy as hell.
That's why they officialy released them in a box-set?
They officially released them in a box set because, a, they release all their shows, and b, because of the circumstances around the shows it made sense to box them together.
You can't honestly listen to those shows and tell me they were playing tight, from a standpoint of pure musicianship? They simply got too drunk too early, it happens. I feel like they learned a lot from that experience and that entire run of tours during the 08/09 years though, because from 2010 through today, including Alpine this year, they've sounded incredibly well rehearsed.
chud, 2006 they played fast, Mike was low in the mix, but the band was TIGHT AS FUCK, man. They were a well-oiled machine on that tour. I enjoyed the 2008 shows, and the MSG's and Camden 1 were up with the best, but fuck the band were sloppy that year in comparison to 2006.
The beginning of that 2008 tour, some of those shows sounded like rehearsals to me. Missed notes, lyrics.
they play 120 different songs a tour... they are entitled to a missed note here in there... no?
we got quite the group of perfectionists here tonight hahahah
seriously...i hope they don't read these. if i were in the band and saw the amount of bitching and complaining that some of these people do it would completely turn me off.

There are some songs that sound sloppy, but those 4 shows are just an awesome collection of hits, rare, etc.
But they released them in a box set because its the only time they've done something like that and they covered a lot of ground (even though they left a lot out of night 4 to repeat every major hit, which is fine).

Sure, but sloppy was becoming the norm and that's not acceptable. Not at $75+ a ticket.

Well rehearsed ... thats not what PJ is about... Id take the mistakes on a song they havent played in 10 years over well rehearsed any day... you want well rehearsed go to a U2 msg board my friend

Just imagine if they could have played as long as they normally would... that hard curfew probably cost us even more gems over those two nights.
I was front row for Boston 1. I enjoy driving round America anyway. Did the other coast on the EV tour this year (Glen's me mate, had to go see me mate and EV playin' together). (San Diego to Seattle). Spent a week in LA going nuts, too.

id take a creative setlist that gets a little sloppy over a tight predictable set any day... maybe for my first few shows i felt differently... but at this point... ill take sloppy and rare every time... they play based on their feeling... unfortunately very few bands these days do that... so i try to not take that for granted
Well rehearsed ... thats not what PJ is about... Id take the mistakes on a song they havent played in 10 years over well rehearsed any day... you want well rehearsed go to a U2 msg board my friend
Or just listen to a live show from 1994, 1996 or 2000?

I agree with this 10000%. The fact that they are willing to play so many different songs means they cant get them all perfect, but thats what adds to the character of a PJ show.

plus in 2000, how many shows did ED fuck up evenflow and immortality lyrics... cmon
No, it wasn't good....and I hope he never cuts it like that again....he needs the beard too....mmmmm beard! (I have a beard fetish....Ed's is a lovely specimen)

I used to feel this way until the first time I hear No Way. It's been a top 5 PJ song for me for a long time, and I finally got to hear it at Spectrum 09. And it was so sloppy I could barely enjoy it.

I don't care about lyrical mistakes, I just care when the band can't even play tight together.

Don't agree. They were majorly tight in 2000, but they've had a lot more breadth and depth since then.
