Damn straight he does! Nothing wrong with writing something from the heart. Tad bit disrespectful.

You're god damned right they should.

I can only surmize that Ed can't relate to the lyrics anymore he doesn't want to sing them for the reason this song is not played. It's a great riff with a great tempo and Jeff's bass throughout drives the song so well (and a cool bass solo for Jeff)

plus, he always seemed to be flubbing these lyrics often when this song was played in 2008 and 2009 like it's out of his head

What song are you talking about?

That's not the point I was getting at.. You don't have to like the song, but comments such as "never be allowed to never write a song again" based on a song that he wrote about something that clearly means something to him is disrespectful..

  • Yeah Present Tense kicks all sorts of ass.
I wanted to hear it for years. Finally got it on my birthday show when we went to America with Idlewild: June 1 2003, Shoreline Amphitheatre. Haven't bothered celebrating my birthday since.

It's always been one of my favourites and I was pleased to hear it for the first time in 2010, but it was absolutely kick ass in Toronto. I can't wait for the boot just for Present Tense alone.

  • Mike McCready wrote Inside Job and should be shunned mercilessly for it. But he also wrote Faithfull, which is maybe the most perfect Pearl Jam song there is.
  • Wait, did Mike even write the lyrics to Faithfull? I know he wrote the music.

oh I totally agree. I have heard this before, I can;t think of which show, but nonetheless, they stepped up the jam at the end in Toronto and I know I will be reliving that moment right away when I get the boot

Another song that needs to be played more of.

At this point it might be pertinent to remind you we're conversing via something known as "the internet".

Well fuck, maybe he shouldn't be allowed to write lyrics.
