since everyone has an equal chance to win for every show.
.
This statement is only true for members who have tickets. If I am not going to the Vancouver shows I have ZERO chance of hitting lottery seats. Overall the more shows I go to the more chances I actually have to win lottery seats.
If I dont go to any shows...I have ZERO chance of winning...
Really??
Ya dont say???
The ticket lottery is exactly like roulette.
0-00 1-36 gives you a 1-38 chance every spin of winning.
Every spin is exactly the same 38-1 shot of hitting.
If the number 7 comes up, it still has the same 38-1 shot of coming up again.
The number 7 coming up again is the same chance on the next spin of 38-1 chance of coming up.
Past results do not predict future results.
Every extra show you attend still gives you the same 40-1 odd chance of winning.
You can have seen 870 shows and never gotten better then 40-1 chance of winning.
Unless the venue size or odds go down or up by ticket rows being added. You still have the same 40-1 shot. You can have seen 870 shows and won the lottery ZERO times.
(for Speedy)
The only real 1-1 odds you can get is buying ZERO 10c tickets.
Then you will win lottery tickets never.

I give up. It's such a simple concept I think some posters are just trying to fuck with me.
More shows don't mean better odds cause it resets every night.
I'm sorry, please don't harm your head.
Let's try it this way. Follow me here. You are going to one Pearl Jam show this year in North America...just one. I am going to every Pearl Jam show this year in North America. After all of the shows are done..who had the most opportunity to win lottery seats. Was it you with one chance at one show or me with 12 chances at 12 shows? Put your mathematical odds and stuff out of your head and just think about it. I had 12 opportunities to win...you had one. The more chances you have over time the more likely it will be to win lottery seats.

Ok, I shouldn't jump in on this........ but I will. Your right, you will have "more" chances at winning but you will not have a "better" chance at winning for that show the more shows you go to......I will now back away.........slowly.
DS1119 your odds are all the same because every show starts your odds back over.
I wish fucking Stephen Hawkings would weigh in on this already.
I know the odds for each show are the same. I have never said differently. All I keep saying is the more shows you go to the better your chances of winning lottery tickets are just simply because you have more opportunities to win. It's a very simple concept.

better chances of winning? You could also say the better chances of losing also.

I have talked and seen various people who end up in Row 1 more than once. The odds don't support multiple lottery winners. Which suggests there are other criteria the 10C uses to skew the probabilities.
When some one says "we won the lottery.... again" I have to think someone has stacked the deck.
On the radio program Tim or Rob have mentioned that the 10C has some settings regarding tickets which make it difficult to hand over to some one like Ticketmaster. I believe that this includes certain "priorities" associated with some 10C members. I am not saying it is unfair or wrong, I am just stating that the lottery is not truly random.
Also, your probability of winning the lottery does not increase unless the total number of 10C tickets sold decreases. If you go to 100 shows and have 1 pair of tickets to each show out of a total of 1,000 pairs available, your odds are still 1 in 1,000 each night. Your chances only increase if they sell less than the 1,000 pairs or you can buy more than 1 pair. Therefore, your probability of winning is the same as someone who goes to one show.

100% mathematically true. Just like if you go to more shows you have a better chance of winning.

Yes it does. If you dont go its 0-0 chance.
If you go, it's 40-1 chance, hence better odds.
Hence, that's a funny word, did I even spell it right?
