I too am really hoping that they play more Avocado and Backspacer stuff over the next few shows, especially since I will be there in person. I certainly cannot complain when the band busts out FOURTEEN tour debuts in one show, especially ones like Go and God's Dice, but if the band happens to scope this out, please don't forget about the newer stuff, boys. There's a reason Avocado was so well received.

to ragejoe this is where opinions differ. i don't care if they are the greatest songs in your opinion. i personally would rather hear many others that are not played as much. i have been to over well 30 shows starting from 1993 and still do not want to hear the "hits" all the time. i am just different than you. i remember the 05 canadian tour where i went to 4 shows in a week and each night or every other night had a lot of too many of the same song,i am sorry but it got to be boring. this is why i don't go see other bands multiple times due to the almost no change to the set lists. bruce springsteen used to play different set lists in the seventies and into the early eighties until his popularity grew from 85 on. as big a fan as i am for bruce i couldn't take the repitition. sorry but those are my views

Great set list, the band had a ton of enery and clearly loves playing TO.

    My Highlights:

A great start with Go, i love the uptempo openings.
    Dissident was incredible
    Corduroy, loved it
An epic Deep followed by Garden
    Rats was my fav
I Got Shit was a nice surprise, i have experienced IGS only once or twice

I thought there was an issue with the sound in the building, i was on Mike's side 25 rows up the wing. It seemed that something was off, i am surprised there is no mention of that here. Many around me had the same experience. The timing seemed strange, we were hearing it differently than the other side.

I was hoping for Neil, kind of a bummer but i can't complain with 30 songs and a very strong show.

Great shirt designs this time around, the mock blue jays game shirts are a winner. And the molson styled pearl jam logo, clever..

Many thanks to the Ten Club again, great job as usual.

was our last of 3 canadian shows and by FAR mr. dream favorite. he is a long-time, solid fan...but definitely not a die-hard. he loves the hits and he loves the hard, heavy-driving songs. he actually called go as an opener...i didn't really think it would happen but we both LOVED it. hubby always 'complains' that pj opens concerts far too often with slow songs, he was NOT disappointed with last night, i think it's a real highlight for him of the 13 shows he's seen.

this was my 35th show and i thought it was great. i love rarities as much as the next die-hard but when you see a lot of shows, i think it's cool to have a more nostalgic show now and again, and that will be more hit-heavy. that said, any show that has i got shit is a winner in my book. 8-)

thank you montreal and toronto for being beautiful, friendly cities....great food and drink.....and for 3 fantastic pearl jam shows. great crowds, great times.....definitely going to be great memories.
    Too right. Until next time!

i know i saw you both days... pre and post... was d2d around too??

still on my "yet to meet" list :(

It was a fantastic night in Toronto. I must say the vibe in the building was quite different on night two- likely due to a Monday night crowd who already pushed it getting drunk the night before! Ironically the set was much heavier and rocking no holds barred right from Go on. Shows are different to different people - a friend said the crowd was lacklustre on Sunday when I thought it was NUTS and he thought Monday was the killer show.
Highlights for me were: Ed shining the spotlight from his guitar around the stadium for a long time (trying to get every person) and then ended shining it right on the giant Canadian Maple Leaf at the top of the arena for a great applause. Also, someone has to let Ed know it is the Toronto Maple "LEAFS" not Maple "Leaves". even though the "Maple Leafs" is not even grammatically correct, that's the name of the team! I remember another show him referring to them as the Maple Leaves. I dont really care because they are so bad, but if they ever get good he has to get the name right. The wrestling mask during Alive was definately bizarro but fun and hilarious. (Someone threw a black rubber wrestling / S&M mask on stage and Eddie wore it and sang with it on for a bit). Great folks from NYC I got to sit with both shows - I think we have adjacent ten club numbers as I sat with them in Hartford a few years ago - and they ROCK OUT like everyone should! That makes the show so much better - thanks guys-
We are so spoiled by this incredible band.
Ole is an amazing song - I have no idea why someone would not like it. I love it - it is awesome and very complicated rhythmically - the vocal lines are amazing. Great to be the first place to have it played live (other than Jimmy Fallon). Dissident rocked and sent the crowd into a frenzy after the crowd seemed a bit stunned by the blistering Go, Animal, Ole, Hail Hail launch.
Setting Forth - I love the Into the Wild energy when it creeps into the building. Ed mentioned it was Matt's idea to learn that song as a band - good idea Matt
I guess it was God's Dice that turned into an acid jazz meltdown - technically a fuck up but i like that weirdness myself.
New words for Wishlist - lots of new words - including "I love my country like a rock and roll band" or something like that. As a Candadian observer to the mighty U.S. of A. there are lots of what I would call embarassing Americans who make the country look like a bunch of idiots but you can always point to people like PJ (and their fans) and rest assured that the heart of America is freedom and freedom is expressed most eloquently in a rock and roll band.
Even Flow was amazing. It really was. A behind the back solo was just the beginning.
    thanks

What a show, what a show...To come out with that intensity and maintain it throughout the entire show (saufe Last Kiss and Just Breathe) was phenomenal. I am really looking forward to Hamilton...it's going to be fantastic.

Here are my videos from last night (8 Songs total): http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFA6ABE5C7FFD84D3

    Wonderful, thank you!

I couldn't find many other videos from last night. I just had to hear "Light Years"!!!

For my taste, this setlist is to die for. Fuck me.

If PJ is boring you, perhaps you should start limiting yourself to one concert per tour.

It's ridiculous to think that Pearl Jam is going to play a completely different set every night. Fact is, they played 56 songs between the two nights and only 5 of them were repeats. Seriously, you're complaining about that? That's unbelievable. I've been talking non-stop about the concerts to friends and family and they are stunned that there were only 5 repeats.

You have to remember that while some fans get to see multiple shows, others only get one show. PJ is not catering specifically to a small group of fans. Besides, they get to do whatever the hell they want. Obviously, there are certain songs that they enjoy playing more than others (McCready - Evenflow, Vedder - Corduroy, etc.) and I'm sure they enjoy playing songs that get an entire crowd into it, so the popular songs are going to get played more often.

I think PJ does a pretty darn good job keeping a balance for both the "die hards" and casual fans, and I feel fortunate every time I get to see him.

Let them do their thing and stop complaining.

When I was walking to the show a bird shit on me. It took me by surprise and I turned to my girlfriend and said, "oh well, I bet they play I got shit (on) tonight." haha. What a great couple of shows. Was only planning on going night 1, but got tickets in the 3rd row on the side stage right next to Mike's dad. What a cool guy. He was taking pictures w/ fans and singing along to the songs.

Pretty disappointed actually... 6 repeats from night 1 plus "Last Kiss". But my real complaint is not a single song from "Riot Act" or "Pearl Jam" between the two nights. I just don't get how you can completely neglect those albums while repeating so many songs over a two night run in a city. The fact that yesterday was so amazing could be contributing to my disappointment as well... I mean, how do you top that? Just my two cents though, which is worth about exactly that. I heard plenty of people saying what a great show it was. Still the greatest band on Earth. As for the security, I got into it with one guy during "Yellow Ledbetter" because he made a 5 year old kid get off of a guys shoulders. This poor kid probably couldn't see shit the whole night and the guy in front of him was nice enough to put him up at the end and this dick comes and ruins it.

i COMPLETELY AGREE about the shitty lack of riot act- i love that album.... my only other complaint is that some folks that i spoke too who bought their tix through ticketmaster had better seats than some tenclubbers, which is bs.... but i figure its probably because of all those site problems they had when tix went onsale. all in all, i saw crown of thorns night 1, so that just makes everything better :)

Awesome show, loved the opening... Go / Animal combo, Ole (don't know it well yet but liked it) Hail Hail, In my tree...on and on and on..perfection! They all gave 110%

Ed was hilarious with the mask on...funny shit.

Finally got Rats again after a 16 year wait!

I saw a giant beach ball bounce down from above and get immediately crushed by the lame security. I'm sure they have some obscure bullshit reason for stomping it but I can't imagine what that is?

Anyway....great two night stint. THANK YOU PJ

Here's my story from this fantastic night.

Before Alpine, I had only seen PJ 4 times, people always ask, "How can fans see them so many times?" I now know why, more than ever. My friends and I scheduled Alpine, Montreal, both Toronto's and Hamilton. Each and every night they continue to amaze me.

We had 10C tickets last night, my brother won the lottery. FRONT ROW CENTRE! He and I had a quick chat, then decided to give them to my friend and his brother. They got us into Pearl Jam to begin with, it was the least we could do. They've never won the lottery and I knew it was the correct choice. They were reluctant, but we forced it upon them.

From where I was, 109 row 25, (mikes side directly in line with row 1) I still had great seats and I could see my friends rocking out in the front row. Eddie gave them the bottle of wine and they managed to snag a tambourine and a pick, which they gave to my brother and I.

We were definitely rewarded, in large effect, last night. SAD, RATS AND PRESENT TENSE all in one set. WOW. I got choked up during PT. I've wanted to hear that song live for a VERY LONG TIME.

I cannot express the gratitude I feel for this band even existing. I am honestly at a loss. Chloe/Crown, Uncle Neil, the debut of Ole, playing songs that have been on my bucket list.....what an amazing pair of concerts.

Thank you Pearl Jam, thank you 10C, thank you PJ fans! See you in Hamilton!

I can't even describe my experience last night - just off the chart - there wasn't one second of that show that I wasn't just elevated (okay - last kiss maybe - ha) - just incredible energy - which I think I needed to be one of those crazy couples in front of Mike :)

nobody's mentioned Mike's jacket - I love the jacket - ha - bring it on Gary Numan

I got shit kills me every time - just kills me - and I started the minute ed strummed a couple of notes before he started talking before he even started playing because we all knew it was coming

I'm just still on a big wow - and it gets to continue tomorrow night

thank you again pearl jam, ten club, and all my friends in the room - and I'm so lucky to know so many of you!

these are the times of my life - :)

Yes, that was my friend who pulled the kid up on his shoulders. He spoke the boy's mom and she said that it was her son's very first Pearl Jam show, so she was extremely grateful and happy for the help. Unfortunately, that douchebag security guard knows nothing about the PJ community and had to squash the moment. I told the guard that it would only be for that song and that it was the child's first show, but he just swung his peen around and ordered the fun to stop.

On a personal note, during night one, we won the lottery and had front row - Stone's side. And two different security guards ordered me to stop using my cell phone to take even short video, but didn't say anything to the women on either side of me, nor anyone else within 20 feet that all were clearly taking full-on video. Complete nimrods.

Security aside - GREAT shows!!! The setlists look great from the outside, but the band really was on fire - well except for the hiccups on night 2 for God's Dice and a couple of others! Side note - I thought Eddie seemed a bit less chatty during these two shows than usual....

Saw that too, what an idiot. How was that hurting anyone? These people go on such a power trip with these minimum wage jobs and probably at no other point in their life, do people listen to them or take directions from them. Yes, a 5 year old on someones shoulders for the last song of the night is just such an offense or affront to others enjoyment that I must step in and put an end to it. That is horseshit.

Kid did get alot of high fives from those around them

I can't tell from the photo, but I heard that Gunnarrsson (backwards hat?) and Lupul (shorter guy?) were at the concert. Lupul's a huge PJ fan and I've heard Lashoff is a fan, as well, so he may have been there, too.

My only complaint is that "CENTRE" was spelled wrong on my night 2 poster. Up here in Canada it's "Air Canada Centre" not "Air Canada Center"!

Obviously I am joking. I just thought it was funny that they got it right on the night 1 poster and not the night 2 one. It will make a great conversational piece when I bring guests through my house which is now turning in to a Pearl Jam poster museum. The moose and beaver are hilarious. I wonder if Ottawa or Hamilton will be a Canadian goose. Let's keep the stereotypical Canadiana theme going....eh!

Following up the previous night was going to be tough, but this was a cracking set. Really enjoyed my stay in Toronoto!

There were some people being ejected by security from the floor near the end. one guy had 3 security people forcibly remove him. Anyone know why? seems abit OTT for smoking (if that's what he was doing). also, some girl got ejected right at the end too and was in tears. :?
