WHHHHHOOOOOAAAAA! What a wonderful show! I loved Mudhoney tonight, Mark Arm is a hell of a singer! I will definitely explore them more when I'm home again.

Tonight was my last PJ show here and I'm so unbelievably glad that I finally got to hear I got shit/ Cinnamon Girl! I was screaming my heart out when I knew they would play it :D The Germans who won the lottery tonight and were in row 1 had a flag and at the preparty wrote I got shit on it and it seems as if the band read the flag :) Thanks again, guys!

I had a blast tonight! We were in section 118, closer to the stage and in the middle of a singing, dancing and screaming fan cloud! I loved the whole show! The lighting during Wishlist was beautiful, Last Kiss played for the ones behind the stage was awesome, lot of songs that I hadn't heard life before (well at least only on bootlegs). I even loved that they fucked up three times

Thank you Pearl Jam - my last four gigs with you were an absolutely amazing experience that I will never ever forget. I feel blessed to have been able to attend these four fantastic shows. Speechless ...

We won the lottery !!!!!
Fucking 1st row right right infront oft Stone.
We got tickets for the film in the morning .
I said "Hey, no matter what they are playing tonight this day cant get any better !"
So we got the tickets.
Floor! 1St Row? This cant be true
It was a hell of a show.
Stone was smiling and we knew they would playing " i got shit".
What a night ! Wow!!! Thanks Pearl Jam!

Another good show to end the Toronto stand. I received essentially the same pair of 10C tickets on Mike's side in 7th row, but traded them for 10C tickets in the center in 16th row and was able to really enjoy the terrific light show the band has going for it on this tour. Perhaps my hearing is starting to go, but it sounded to me like the crowd was less intense in general, while still being loud during the singalongs, as compared to the 1st night's crowd. Ed's vocal mix sounded off from the moment the band took the stage, but seemed to resolve itself within a song or two. In addition, several lyrical and musical flubs made for a couple of awkward moments here and there, but overall the band was enjoying themselves. Oceans was set to open the show but was dropped at the last minute for Go. I was glad Toronto 2 saw the concert debut of Ole...it really is a fun, up tempo song that would do well at the beginning of a setlist and the majority of the crowd already knew the track. Sad sounded great but unfortunately the band completely dropped the ball on both God's Dice and Deep - I could understand them forgetting the former, but not the latter. Wishlist was dedicated to Doug Gilmour, who requested the song, and Ed sang "I wish I was as fortunate as the Maple Leafs" - the irony wasn't lost on those around me. Present Tense and Rats were my main set highlights, in addition to Sad and Ole. Lass Kiss was an obvious choice with the crowd behind the band, and I Got Shit had Ed referencing Neil beforehand and dropping a little bit of Cinnamon Girl as well ("now I understand the connection between the letters NYC and Toronto - Neil Young Country.") but Light Years was the 1st encore highlight for me.

I could once again hear a strange mix between the vocals and music during Do The Evolution to open the 2nd encore. Unthought Known and Public Image were supposed to follow, but both were dropped from the shortened setlist, which was unfortunate. When the 2nd mic was brought up everyone around me was sold on Cornell walking on stage, and it was actually funny to hear a collective sigh of disappointment when Mark Arm and Steve Turner took the stage to help out on Kick Out The Jams, which I was actually stoked to hear live for the 2nd time (can hardly recall hearing it at the '04 Grand Rapids show) and it sounded great. Baba seems to be a Toronto staple, and I was actually hoping for The Real Me instead, but it got the job done. Mike's Yellow Ledbetter solo was on the shorter side and was sort of flat to end the show but overall the high-energy 2nd encore didn't have any buzz kills...thankfully. Two of the most memorable shows Toronto has seen from this band and not a single poster worth owning to commemorate them.

My hearing is essentially shot, but onwards to Ottawa and Hamilton to end off the tour for me.
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

I don't want this to sound like a complaint - both nights were so amazing - I'm just surprised by how little the band played of songs from the second half of their twenty years. I could be wrong but I only count six songs over both nights that were released after the year 2001. My only personal problem with this is that I missed the two shows in Toronto for the avacado tour because my wife and I had a baby at that time and also when Pearl Jam came for the Backspacer tour the album wasn't out yet so they only played two songs from it. So just for me, one of those crazy fans like many of you who keeps a running tab of what songs I've seen live, I have a lot of songs from the last two albums that I was hoping to cross off the list.
Again, I don't want this to be negative... the shows were amazing. There were certainly enough gems to satisfy me (Neil!!! Kick out the Jams! Light Years! God's Dice... oh, yeah Chloe Dancer/ Crown of Thorns!!!) .
Two great, great shows. Just for me I would have taken out a repeat (Alive, Porch...) and replaced it with Life Wasted. And also I do understand that I may be the only one in the arena who really, really wanted to hear Johnny Guitar.

What a strange and great concert. people kept saying how are they going to top the 1st TO concert and what do they do. just rock out all night. as soon as they played Go i knew that the concert was going to be a really different concert.

yes there was no Neil or Chris but who cares there was Pearl Jam just rocking out. oh and plus they played rats! and garden.

What would you do, kids?

I was 2nd row tonight, Mike side. After the show I'm walking out...suddenly this guy with a face full of piercings LAUNCHES himself over a row of chairs after something. I can see he's flailing away at an Eddie guitar pick but can't reach it, so I bend over and pick it up. The guy starts begging me for it (literally), saying I only saw it because he threw himself after it (true) and it would mean "more than life itself" if he could have it. Reluctantly I say fine, it means more to him than me and hand it over. Then I curse myself for being a pussy since I'll probably never see this guy again in my life. I'm a huge loser who should have just walked away, right? It's not like a Mike pick where he throws out a shitload every night, it was an Eddie pick. Still, it's only a pick...right?

Yeah but you did the right thing. Isn't that what matters?

I would have done the same even though It would kill me at the time........as time goes on it will get easier I'm sure
In 2008 before an Eddie solo show, as Eddie was walking up the back stairs into Massey Hall, he reached into his pocket and threw down a handful of picks. A girl goes running to collect them and I run towards them too, but a security guard grabs me and says 'they're for her'. I approach her and say "i'll give you $20 for one pick, you have so many" and she says 'sorry, this one's for my friend, and this one is reserved for my other friend and this one is for my other friend and i need to keep these ones for myself'. bitch.. She got so many and didn't give me one. Tonight, just over 3 years later, I see them throw a pick down, and with my face full of piercings, I dive for it, I've wanted one for so long. I cut up my hand pretty good trying to reach through the underside of a chair to find that someone else snagged it just before I was able to. I pleaded with him for a few minutes until he finally handed it over. I know he didn't want to and I couldn't believe his kindness. I will thank him forever. What an amazing guy, I hope he doesn't feel bad about it, he should feel good, and I owe him at least a drink. I'm glad you posted on here because I wanted to thank you again and let you know your kindness was not wasted on an asshole. You're amazing for doing that and I hope you get amazing karma in return. You deserve it. Thanks again. I won't ever forget it. The show was obviously amazing, but you helped make my night. Thank you.
Hey, no worries. Like I said, I felt like it meant more to you than it did to me in that moment. And I wouldn't have seen it without you diving after it.

why are they obligated to not repeat songs? Most bands repeat EVERY SONG... you complain about a few repeats out of 30? WHy do they repeat ALIVE? Its one of the greatest rock songs of all time and the feeling of 20,000 people chanting in unison during the jam probably gives them a feeling of euphoria that most people wont have the chance to experie nce... ive been to 30 shows , i hope i never go to a show where they dont Play Alive... Is it also lame to hear the whole crowd sing the first verse of betterman to if they played it the night before? Not to mention songs like alive and porch and betterman and daughter always have some sort of twist or unique jam or the tag or what not... in my experiences i never feel like a hear a carbon copy version of any of those songs...

we are one spoiled group of music fans...

Great post. Unbeleivable that people complain about a few repeats when a majority of bands play the same exact set every night. I couldn't agree w/ you mroe on Alive...I get mad if they don't play it at a show!

Pretty disappointed actually... 6 repeats from night 1 plus "Last Kiss". But my real complaint is not a single song from "Riot Act" or "Pearl Jam" between the two nights. I just don't get how you can completely neglect those albums while repeating so many songs over a two night run in a city. The fact that yesterday was so amazing could be contributing to my disappointment as well... I mean, how do you top that? Just my two cents though, which is worth about exactly that. I heard plenty of people saying what a great show it was. Still the greatest band on Earth. As for the security, I got into it with one guy during "Yellow Ledbetter" because he made a 5 year old kid get off of a guys shoulders. This poor kid probably couldn't see shit the whole night and the guy in front of him was nice enough to put him up at the end and this dick comes and ruins it.

Disappointed? They played 14 songs that they haven't performend at the 4 shows before????

Don't mind him. Jack Straw is a spoiled little PJ brat who just wants something to bitch about. Believe me... I had to go home with him.

Awesome opener... Very different set list than last night which was great! Then Yellow Ledbetter starts and I get kicked out for standing 6 inches into the aisle!!! The police come to escort me out and all they can say is "He gets paid $10.50 an hour, I'm sorry!" WTF!!??? I wasn't backing down, cause all I was doing was enjoying the show.... MAJOR complaint headed your way ACC!!! Just for enjoying a concert...:

Man I feel that. Tonight I was in row 22 on the aisle. I had my Rats banner out for Rats and the aisle nazis were all over me. Seriously, the only person who didn't like my banner was this young security guy who told me I'd have to leave if I didn't get rid of the banner. If you moved an inch into the aisle (even accidentally) they would literally start breathing down your neck.

Other than the ridiculous security tonight, the show was amazing. Only seven repeats in two nights too!

Hey man, we saw that and it was totally over the top act by security - we couldn't beleive it.

I missed yesterday's show, but it seemed to be a hell of a rocker. Similar setlist wise to Hartford '08. I'm still in shock to have heard and witnessed Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns on Sunday. Wish everyone of you has the chance to hear/see it at least once, but then again if they play it too often it might lose a bit of its aura. When I saw the PJ20 documentary and seeing the intense Andy Wood footage, it made my luck even more obvious.

yeah I was saying that last night, the light show they have with them this tour is outstanding, definitly the best I can recall in a while, lots of colour changes, more flashiness, some really pretty stuff on the crowd too.

I was one of the ones letting out a sign of disappointment lol

yeah, I watched them approach security on the floor to get their wristband and the girl was jumping up and down then lol, so I figured they were going to have a fun night and be really pumped, and they were. Congrats you guys, looks like you had a fun night of dancing and singing. That is the way those lucky fuckers should rock out.

I missed this show but had Ten Club tickets. Thanks to the best fan club in the world for allowing me an exception to give my 18th row seats to my good friends. She loves Pearl Jam and have never seen them live. She and her husband love the show.

I can rarely say I would rather be anywhere other than a Pearl Jam concert in my hometown of Toronto but last night I had the pleasure of welcoming my first child, Emily, into this world at 8:22 pm just before Pearl Jam took the stage :-)

My daughter waited so I could see Toronto Night 1 and Uncle Neil.

Thanks Ten Club :-)

last night felt more like part 2 of one concert ... a continuation of sorts ...

i was never a big fan of just breathe live until last nite for some reason ... i guess the lyrics hit me more last nite especially with eds banter the last couple of nites and the sentimentality of having his loved ones there and mike's dad being there, etc ... it really is a beautiful song ...

highlights for me were light years, sad and rats ... also, liked eds tag for wishlist too ...

comments from other posts:

* kudos to the pick guy ... sometimes it is way better to give than receive
* ed cut his hand catching a tambourine at the end during alive
* fuck me - oceans is the one song i am desperate to hear live which i haven't ... i'm hoping they play it in the hammer
* those security guards were definitely being dicks ... they should really put the experienced ones at the front where they are most needed ... i have a loathing for mlse and this shit just makes me loathe them more ...

edit:

i'm pretty sure the fuckers who bitched about totd and chris at PJ20 had an influence on him not coming on stage in toronto ...
