This seems like a much stronger rumour than in any other year I can recall though, at this point I think I'd be more surprised if it doesn't happen.

Gulp. I better wait for night time then. Luckily there are no street lights where I live.
It might not happen, but it seems to have been coming from a few different sources so it seems fairly legit.

    We'll know soon enough.
  • I remember the 98, 03, 06 and 09 bdo tour rumors for pearl jam.
All I can say is every time the bdo/pj rumor appears then they generally tour shortly after

I hope this is the same

Though the rumors previously have never had so much potency behind them
Fingers crossed ladies and gents... Or EK is getting her tits out :S

shouldn't we have our fingers crossed that the rumours are false so E.K. has to get her tits out???

also i wouldn't say these have been more potent, i've only seen it mentioned here and the triple m site thing.

  • Excited but don't think this will happen

Same. On a side note, some headliners do a BDO tour, then come back later in the year for their own tour (muse 2010, tool were meant to in 2007)

    Where there's smoke...

I would prefer their own arena tour but I'm sure they'll still be great shows (if it happens, that is.)

I do hope the sideshows are in arenas (if not smaller venues), not separate stadium shows. That would kind of suck.

Um no... I'm saying that IF Pearl Jam play the BDO I will run around the block naked because I'm fairly certain that they won't. ;)

Good point about PJ touring the same year as the BDO rumours. That should mean a tour late next year hopefully .. it will be 3 years by then and the new album will be finished. :)

Supposedly leaked line-up announcement, take it with the recommended grain of salt of course.
    http://theangryfijian.com/2011/09/27/big-day-out-line-up-leaked/

Thanks to the secret squirrel for the tip off!

    PEARL JAM

    The rest….

    SYSTEM OF A DOWN
    THE KILLERS
    KASABIAN
    SOULWAX / 2MANYDJS (2 Sets)
    FLORENCE + THE MACHINE
    THE LIVING END
    MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
    CHASE & STATUS
    SUM 41
    WIZ KHALIFA
    ART VS SCIENCE
    ESKIMO JOE
    BOY AND BEAR
    JOSH PYKE
    JEBEDIAH
    DRAPHT
    SARAH MCLEOD
    ILLY
    OWL EYES

To welcome our headliner, we couldn’t find any better man than Eddie Vedder. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, PEARL JAM will headline the main stage of BIG DAY OUT 2012. Having last touched down on our shores in 2009, PEARL JAM will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Ten, with our 20th anniversary. With 20 years under their belt, songs from Even Flow to Amongst The Waves, will endure to all crowds of BIG DAY OUT. As we wish PEARL JAM a Happy 20th Anniversary, they wish us and ensure that it is going to be one heck of a celebration. (ALL SHOWS)

...the line-up might be real (who knows) but I'm suspicious of the press release junk underneath. It's so poorly written that I can't imagine it being legitimate. LOL @ the crowd "enduring" Even Flow and Amongst the Waves (actually, now I think about it...)

    The plot thickens, etc.

Sorry but it will be at night and there are no street lights where I live ... so no-one will see it except maybe the local kangaroos

  • Haha that "press release" is classic (the wording, I mean).

Reminds me of those fake "pj buzz buzz" dates in previous years. He/she'd post a 50-date tour, people would get excited for 10 minutes, until someone checked that half the dates and venues were booked for hockey or basketball  Immediate debunk.

Overall I'm with Spencer here though... it's not your typical rumour. We'll see.

Praying like hell they aren't on the bill tbh.
    Come to send, not condescend...

fake? didnt you go to the 10c max masters gig?
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

May just happen (though I'm praying hard it doesn't). After all, Neil Young and The Who did headline few years ago.
  • So they are announcing 17 bands on Thursday night, then 3 headliners Friday morn on triple j. Now my mathematical genius tells me that equals 20 bands. BDO is celebrating it's 20th year, do you think it may be one band from each year? Can they even pull that off?

Now that would be good. They're doing a recap of each year on the BDO Official Facebook page.

LOL @ Nui Te Koha being the source that Pearl Jam "changed their mind". As if that could feasibly happen at this late stage and as if the band would sign onto any festival contract without being 100% certain that safety was being looked after.

I think we can safely call that article bullshit.
