18-year-olds screaming 'Alive! My mum used to LOVE this song!'
This is what worries me .. having to share a show with people I'm old enough to be a mother to. [/quote]
The "normal" demographic for BDO would be 16 to 25 year olds?...... the age that would generally be only slightly familiar with PJs greatest radio hits if at all. It would be an interesting concert experience to say the least.
Just pray for more shows than BDO
rumor i heard was prince was coming to town for BDO.
I used to LOVE the BDO back in the day, have all the posters from 1993 ...but stopped going when the venue changed..and i got older...i have lots of awesome memories though of standing in the hot hot aussie sun seeing the red hot chilli peppers, janes addiction, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins...good times.
When Ed was in Melbourne last he said i wont be seeing you guys for a long time....so sad to say i doubt we will see them in 2012 :(
Prince at BDO!?! I couldn't imagine that.
And never believe anything Eddie says.

Didnt PJ pull out for the very first BDO 20 years ago? Might be cool to get em back 20 years later..
The BDO will be flooded with 30+ year olds...crack up...the teens will hate us
and 40+ year olds.
Anyway I'd say most teens wouldn't be interested in PJ and would go watch the other bands.

Oh ejh76 please don't say that!! I was on my honeymoon for EV's entire solo tour - couldn't make it to a single show. Seeing them live within the next year (or two) would so fix that . . .
If the rumors were to be true, I think PJ playing the BDO would be a really good thing. It opens the band up to a whole new/younger audience that would have not necessarily had the opportunity to hear PJ before. I think we all know of someone who has gone to there first PJ show with no expectations whatsoever and walked a way with a completely new perspective on the band and their music that they would not have gotten had it not been for that live experience. PJ are at there best live - whatever the format.
PJ is not something that is 'ours' it is something that should be shared with every person, every age, every background.
And of course like, the headliners of previous years (Tool, Neil Young etc... they have included sideshows)
Best of both worlds.
Lets hope the rumors are true.
It opens the band up to a whole new/younger audience that would have not necessarily had the opportunity to hear PJ before.
This is exactly what I thought when I heard the rumour this morning. Maybe PJ would consider doing something like BDO to broaden their audience? To bond with some new fans, especially the younger demographic? And of course this isn't necessarily a bad thing . . . All artists want to continue growing, evolving and reaching out to new people. And Eddie has always been in the corner for kids (or youth). If his paternal (and ridiculously sexy - who else can be so paternal and so desirable at the same time?) loveliness can help some teenagers going through some shit then that would be a wonderful thing.
That said, for Pearl Jam fanatics used to being at concerts where there is just so much love and respect for the band (and respect is probably the important word here) - seeing them in an environment where there isn't that level of love and respect from the crowd will be challenging! Essentially us fans are going from concert experiences where the adoration is electric - where the fans all have this common bond that brings them together - to something that will be very different. And not only will we be competing with eachother for a decent view/spot, we'll be fighting a tonne of people that don't necessarily love the band that much too!!! So while I think it could be really cool, and yep a great PR gig for the band, if they're playing side-shows, I'd MUCH prefer to be at those, with all the other PJ crazies like me.
it's such a clusterfuck. if you don't stick to the main stage all day long, you don't get to see or hear anything you wanna see. it's ok if all the bands you wanna see are on the smaller side stages, but you're shit outta luck if you expect to be able to see side stages and main stages.
it got too big and then the introduction of the D barrier + the limited entry to the pit makes it not worth going to.
it's too expensive to get to as well. i was put off it the last time i went. couldn't see or hear shit from the stands and the stands were the only place you could get to because everywhere else was jammed to capacity.
i hope they don't play and just do normal shows (in new zealand)
Didnt PJ pull out for the very first BDO 20 years ago? Might be cool to get em back 20 years later..
i hadn't heard that. i heard they were all signed up to do it in 2001 but when Roskilde happened they pulled out, and didn't do G.A tours for a very long time. but we all know that has changed now, and they may be more comfortable doing BDO now, especially how well the stadium tour in 09 went for them.
personally, i would never go to a BDO. not even for pearl jam.
i dont want to rain on the parade here but the triple m music reporter has never got anything right. he said that RATM were coming out for soundwave revolution and that didn't happen, he said soundgarden will headline this years bdo and that didn't happen, and he for some reason thinks that queen with george michael and the black eyed peas are playing a show in sydney on new years eve. Who knows where this guy pulls this shit from.
I would absolutly love to see them headline BDO, but this same reporter has said that Prince and Blink 182 are headlining in previous reports. just had to clear this up.

Actually you are right. But I hope the Prince rumor is true!
Well I guess I'd like to experience BDO just once.. :?
I have never been to it myself, as I always saw it as being a festival for teens and I'm way older than that, but there's a first time for everything I guess. I'd rather they didnt play BDO, I also very much doubt that we'll get Ten Club privileges seeing it's a festival.

Well I don't think anyone much over the age of 25 goes to BDO.

i would be devo if they played BDO hour and a half sets, no 10c privileges and who would want to spend $170 each time to see the band... 1 pearl jam show a tour is not enough!!! please pearl jam dont play BDO!!!!!
Would love to go back to Oz for more PJ shows! 2009 was amazing.

i have absolutely no interest in going to BDO with a bunch of drugged up teeny boppers - but I would go for PJ. I say all of us 'older' generation take over BDO and get rid of all those young punks and show them what real music appreciation is all about :-D

We'd all most likely end up going because missing Pearl Jam altogether just wouldn't sit right (Big Day Out or not!!)... but PLEASE NO! Had the complete misfortune of sitting with the masses in Sydney '09 and I could not think of a worse way to experience a PJ tour. No Respect
As much as I HATE the BDO if it brings them here to Oz, that would be awesome.. I just HATE the thought of people screaming out for the "hits" and that's it... I want to enjoy them & NOT have drunken idiots ruining my day...
So would there be other bands on other stages playing the same time as PJ?
if i was an organiser.... i would cut the crap off 2 hours before to weed out the true fans... that way we can get the place to ourselves!
Maybe, someday another child
