I think half of my CD collection is "P" bands. Most notably:

    Pearl Jam
    Phish
    Primus
    Pink Floyd
    Police
    Primal Scream
    Porcupine Tree
    Pond
    Poster Children

My 3 would be Esma Redžepova, Gogol Bordello, an Jeff Buckley..

They are a really fun live band. They go crazy on stage and the fans eat it up.

I think these all came after anything before Pearl Jam would have a mute point.
Elliot Smith was waaay before his time. He killed himself the same year Cobain did. No one cares. Tool and Beck. Outkast! Sublime, Pepper... What should I do with my self? Gwen Stefani, Muddy Waters? Fischerspooner, Tori Amos? Dolly Parton, J.R. Cash...

not to be an asshole, but conor oberst and saddle creek is not a band. saddle creek is the record label owned and operated by conor and his brother justin. and elliott smith did not die the same year as cobain. smith was allegedly killed by self inflicted stab wounds in 2003, although it was never officially ruled a suicide.

A guy called Gotye who's just starting to make it big in this country.
An Australian band called the Living End, great live.
My favourite band other than PJ, Radiohead but I guess most people on this forum have heard of them, already know their music.
  • haven't listened to the Living End for ever - good idea!

    Also want to add
    John Spencer Blues Explosion

The Living End are a great little 3 piece band and I've seen them live twice, they've been going years and years. Another great Aussie band I'd recommend is the John Butler Trio.
