As a supporter of the wm3 for about 10 years now I really hope this is finally the day! It will be a shame however if they have to plee to anything other than innocence! I hope the new DNA results have pointed directly at someone else thus freeing the three.
Here's another video link...I don't know what to think. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!
Inside source says all three will actually be released. There was supposed to be a gag order regarding the hearing, so this is leaked information which might be slightly incorrect (re: reporting only 2 will be released).

Looks likely that they will submitting a plea of 'no contest' - rather than a guilty plea. This 'nolo contendre' thing is apparently used in plea bargaining where someone does not admit guilt, but accepts the findings of the court or something. I guess it means they are 'not contesting' their guilty charge- and as part of the deal - the judge will rule that they have served adequate time. I'm not a lawyer, but it sounds like a deal has been struck where they will be released.

Info doesn't make sense. If they admit to guilty just to walk, I think they lose all credibility. I hope that's not the case. The video I watched is what one of the victim's fathers is saying he heard. It can't be accurate. There's got to be more to the story.

I think that they are trying to expedite the process by doing the no contest plea. That way, they won't have to wait for the state to appeal for the next two decades in the event that they are acquitted at the new trial.

I don't think they lose any credibility, freedom is what's most important at the end of the day to anyone. The justice system is what it is. It would be nice to champion causes of injustice but they've already lost years they will never get back.
With all due respect, I agree that the trial and the investigation were an absolute atrocity. But on the other hand, these guys are hardly salt of the earth individuals and if I were a betting man, I would bet all of them will be back in prison within five years for some other crime they commit where the trial and investigation are done properly. Just a hunch, sorry to be a downer......
At least they have a better chance to be given a fair trial if they do commit another crime.

Yeah this 'no contest' thing sounds like a good way out for them, considering one of them was on death row - seems like the lawyers have acted in their interests. I will be following this tomorrow - no doubt there will be a lot of debate. It looks like they will not be pleading guilty.

I do see that side of it too. I do. And I'm not in their shoes. I have no idea what it's like to be in that headspace for so long, so maybe I shouldn't even comment. But, it just seems to me if for years you are fighting for your innocence, and then you say, I'm guilty if you let me go. I don't know. I guess the ends justify the means. I don't know. I'm conflicted. But I'm sure Echols doesn't care what jambayleaf thinks about him walking. He's trying to figure out how to get caught up on Big Brother episodes.
Good for them. I just hate, if it's true, which we don't totally know, that they have to admit guilt.

They're not pleading guilty. Those words came from one of the victim's relatives, and was the first thing broken by the media - they are 'not contesting' the guilty charge, and as a result they can go free.

Plea deal? This makes no sense. This is all speculation until the hearing starts. All these leaks, it's BS. DNA absolves them, judge is dismissing the case.
How can one say Ed is in a good mood when these guys are admitting guilt. If they are admitting guilt then they should rot forever and whomever supported them should feel dooped!!

Yeah...agreed. That is a bit harsh. And...I don't think any of us can speak on their behalf. I really can't imagine what these guys...or anyone directly affected...have been through. 20 fucking years...
I agree. I've been a supporter of them due to a perceived injustice. However, if their release comes with an admission of guilt then my heart again goes out to the victims families.

To be committed to death for a crime..then admit you did it and be released does't make sense.
I am not sure that the evidence holding the WM3 was tight or fair...I really do not know enough about it...but as a parent...surely having them admit guilt if they did not do it is as bad as locking up innocent men...now the people who really did this atrocious crime will never be looked for or brought to justice.
BTW 18 years for what was done to those boys is NOT enough....either prove they did it or find the real murderers...just make sure the price is life in prison....those boys went through hell!
Also...if they are innocent....what will be done foe the two who are released? Probably nothing...that means convicted murderers trying to make a life for themselves will have zero chance of making a go of it legally...who wants to employ them? And so who knows what they will end up doing????

It means they cannot sue the state for wrongly convicting them when they leave I guess... i aint no lawyer!

Just in the case of the police here, they ruined lives.
I'm pretty sure these aren't the only people wrongly convicted, which is a very sad thing to have to say.
