I understand getting bored with a song....but as I've never seen PJ live, and Just Breathe is the most personal song for me as it represents a very hard time with my son...but in the 'It will be okay" sense, I REALLY want to hear it at PJ20. I don't care where it is on the setlist, so long as it is there. It will be a moment when my son is with me in the moment and in my heart as I listen, probably blubbing my eyes out.

Also really want other songs too..just because they are so amazing...THAT list could be very long :D

You have nothing to worry about. I'd bet my house that they will play it.

Hey gang, I think the Just Breathe section had more to do with the fact that they were touring Backspacer.

I don't think you'll see the same section every night of the upcoming tour. Though we will most likely get the song a plenty

  • looking at the Amsterdam setlist and seeing 'Just Breathe' and no 'Alive' is a head-scratcher.
I would listen to Pearl Jam play anything they wanted -- they could play 'Bugs' 22 times in a row and I would go.
But I hear ya more and more.

I was listening to an interview that EV did with Willie Nelson on Willie's Sat Radio Show and EV said that he was so blown away that Willie would want to cover it and that it was a vehicle for Willie and his son to get on the same record for the first time....that is may be 'his greatest contribution to music.'
Maybe it just has a special place for the band/EV in particular and they love to play it.

I couldn't agree more. It has quickly become the 4 minutes of each show that I dread - whether it be a PJ show or Ed solo. It just sucks the life right out of the show.

    I'd agree with this
    train of thought,
but my gf would be ever so disappointed.
    'Just Breathe' instantly became
    one of her favourite songs,
+ she would miss it so.
    Then again,
she doesn't attend as many shows as
    all y'all do!
    Cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.
  • its short and sweet -- i dont think it really bothers anything - and Mike and Matt probably need the extra 4 minutes of break time

I like Just Breathe a lot. It's full of love and makes me feel good. It's a pretty short song, but has lots of tenderness, which is something we need more of in this world.
I say ditch Alive for a good long time.

It's a really good song, but I'm sick of it. But hey... whatever, really. I'd be happy with anything they play as long as it's not Ole.

I would never tell them to "Retire" any song just for the fact that I want to hear a variety of all PJ songs when I see them live. Just a Girl is a fav of mine and it seems they have semi retired that song and I wouldnt wish that upon any PJ song again. I like Just Breathe,I just dont get to see PJ live as often as most others I guess, not very fond of South Florida lately i guess, but i would not be mad if they played or didnt play it. Beggar cant be chooser kinda situation. As far as Ledbetter, it seems to be their Grail/Finale song, Im sure so many more people want to hear it than dont so they kinda feel obligated to play it.

Its just become a bit predictable that it'll be in the 1st encore. And on this tour dedicating it to newly weds each show. Its a great song but its become tiresome live. Put it elsewhere in the set. Start a show with it, that'll fuck us all up!!
