Haven't seen "drive all night" on any of the previous Eddie Tour show setlists, or on any Pearl Jam recordings. Can't say for sure, but seems like it's first time.

I think everyone has covered how amazing this show was. Arc literally blew me away, and the first encore was absolutely brilliant. I was a little irritated (although not surprised) by the fight that broke out half way into Ed's first song. Things seemed to calm down afterward. Overall, great experience!

there was a fight? wow, didn't see that. Heard some dude got tossed and it took like 3 security guards to escort him out.

There were several "altercations" in the back of Left orchestra.
Woman got tossed for recording, two guys almost got in a fight because one kept spilling beer on the other and his wife, there was a 2 minute argument in the aisle between a woman and some dude about who was being louder and who needed to shut up more, and finally another man was asked to leave for being a dick.

Other than the several brief instances of bad behavior it was a great show. Just really hot inside the theater.

Shout out to the couple who gave an extra ticket to me and my friend. It was his first EV solo show and we really appreciated it. If you ever need anything please get in touch, I'd love to return the generosity!

As I mentioned in the setlist thread, Glen Hansard regularly covers Drive All Night in his shows with Swell Season and Jake often joins them on sax. That's clearly the genesis of the performance tonight.

This is what I'm not understanding. Great tribute with Jake. But was this done as a "Glen Hansard song" with a guest appearance by Eddie in the middle of an Eddie encore? (know it's a Brucie song).

Not that it's bad. Just trying to get a feel.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Kind of -- Ed played on the whole song, but Glen took the lead. Same as with "Falling Slowly," obviously.

my only disapointment merch wise was there was no EV zippo lighter with the wave doodle for sale as they had last week at the Beacon as reported

In the right orch section, a gentleman allegedly tripped a man walking up the aisle. Needless to say, the man who went down got up quickly and delivered a punishing right hook to the gentleman's head; he had an ice pack for much of the rest of the evening.

  • There was a license plate shirt. It was a greyish shirt and the plate was yellow with blue letters. I was hoping it was going to be the plate that says "you've got a friend in" but it was a plain Pennsylvania plate.

To finanlize this whole Glen-Eddie thing. Eddie had sung a song with Marketa. Then asked Glen if he would come out and if it would be OK if he sang on one of his songs. Glen grinning widely said something like, "oh sure" Then they did Falling SLowly. (it was ridiculous, but i was secretly hoping for a trio version WITH Marketa since she was there)) This was followed by a fairly long Ed preamble of knowing Clarence. And about how many times Clarence had made magic in Philly. And he said that Clarence had played the tower in 74 or 76. During this story he said something along the lines of "and we are very lucky to have a very special guest and good friend of Glen's here tonight..."at that time he introduced Clarence's nephew who came out on stage carrying his sax. It was intense.

Ed moved to the side stage pump organ (which looks like a piano) Glen was center stage. Sax between the two. Vocals were traded back and forth. And there were two extended sax solos. VERY tight harmonies. Powerful droning pump organ churning underneath. Beautiful sax carrying throughout the theatre. Incredibly special performance.

Woke up this morning and remembered two more things I wanted to mention about the concert. Towards the end of the night, Ed was given two bouquets of flowers-he was very appreciative and mentioned that he felt like an "opera singer"!

He also told a very moving story about running into an old friend in NYC who he hadn't seen in ten years. Sadly, the man's wife had died three years earlier, and Ed could tell that the pain was still so fresh and raw. He urged all of us to love and cherish each other while we still here. It was so heartfelt and moving. Ed followed this with a very lovely version of "Just Breathe", no strings this time, just Ed and his acoustic guitar. I was so moved by this and found I preferred the song without the added strings-it carried so much more emotion with only Ed's voice and guitar.

Most of the highlights have been captured all ready...but here's my 2 cents :D

The evening started out quite nicely considering about a minute after I got to my seats, someone from EV's staff bumped us all the way to the FRONT ROW. Actually, we discovered that everyone in the front row(at least the on the right side of the stage) got a visit from the "ticket fairy".

Glen's set was really great, but unfortunately it was short and sweet.

There were a lot of nice surprises at tonight's show..Charles DeFabio showing up and Eddie dedicating Betterman to him..but later clarifying that only the chorus applied to Charles..not the part about being caught in an abusive relationship...thanks for the clarification Eddie :D
It was also a nice surprise for Clarence Clemon's nephew to come and play Drive all Night with Eddie & Glen. It was very touching to see Jake play the sax for this song.

Before playing Rise, Eddie told us the differences between ukes & mandolins by comparing the instruments to women...very funny stuff...I love Eddie's random stories.

Unthought Known was awesome..and got pretty much everyone to their feet :D

Arc of course was incredible...there's just no words for that song..just amazing soul-touching vocals.

Another highlight for me was Eddie & Glen singing Falling Slowly together...their voices together made the song even more powerful than it already is..

A personal highlight was having Eddie handing me his pic after fully rocking out a wonderful version of Porch :D:D

Hard Sun was a nice way to end the evening as Eddie was joined by Glen, Jake and Marketa. Eddie definitely had fun with the crowd on this one as he played his guitar right in our faces...next thing you know he'll be melting off faces like Mikey :D

I could go on and on...but as expected the show was amazing!!

I was next to you at the stage, I'm the tall guy in the blue pearl jam phillies shirt. Congrats on the pick, thats so exciting, it happened to me in 09. It was cool to meet you.

This show was so sick, it cannot be described in words. I spent the entire time from parting ways center stage with my fore arms on the stage.

Ed, thanks for such a great show, worth every penny. And Glen was fucking amazing, exceeded every expectation I've ever had for an opening act.

Falesha, if you're reading this I'm the guy from the Waterford!

This was my daughters first concert, what a great w time we had. The music was AMAZING, and she got to meet some of my PJ family. My good friend Elwayvedder even kept an eye on her for a few while I elbowed my way through the merch chaos.

The show: I loved the stories that Ed was sharing through the show. Glen was a nice opening act, and he was a little taken back by the Philly faithfull. Music highlights, Betterman was great, Parting Ways wow, all of the Uke songs were better live that on the CD, Drive All Night was a cool time of the show, but my highlight was ARC-mother of God was that AMAZING!

    Have a GREAT day everyone!!!

Can't wait 'till the next Philly experience. :D

I got the upgrade from Jesse upstairs. Seat 106 and 108 front row, left side. It seems as if that whole front row was for surprises.
Ive never been that close before, still unreal.
Jesse was basically picking couples who looked well behaved and would act accordingly to the ticket policies. Great guy. It took me 10 minutes to tell myself that he wasnt a scalper. :)

I couldn't get into this show. There were so many fucking distractions from either ignorant or drunk people who think their money spent requires the rest of the crowd to hear their fucking screams. E.V. told a couple of poignant stories, marred by uncalled-for commentary.

To the idiot who TWICE shouted "New York sucks" during Ed's Lennon story, you, sir, are a fuck. You probably have been fired from job after job and got lots of "F's" in school because you can't pay attention and talk out of turn. Turn off the beer spigot attached above your mouth to save the few brain cells catching a little fire in your head and maybe — IF JUST FOR ONE DAY IN YOUR LIFE — you won't have someone pissed off at you.

To the idiot who shouted "Yeah!" at the top of your lungs during Ed's story about his music-store acquaintance, you clearly need some help, too. Seek solace in loved ones. They've put up with you for you to make it this far.

I don't what happened with the minifight in the middle-right of the room during the start of the third song, but it set the tone for the night.

Turn off your fucking cell phones at shows! I asked the guy next to me to put his away, and he defended himself, saying he was keeping it close to his chest. This exchange happened during the Bruce cover. His texting conversation clearly was more important. Those more interested in recording the moment as it's happening will miss something that can never be translated to binary code.

Glen had high praise for PJ fans, but on this Saturday night, it was a failed, disrespectful, disruptive showing. I'm ashamed and let down.

Drive all night was so intense, honestly I've never heard it before and if I looked it up right now I probably wouldn't even like it, but the feel in that building was unreal, goosebumps and tears were flowing, the air itself felt different for that song.

    First - Thanks 10c!

All highlights have been covered. My 3rd Vedder show and the best crowd so far. I missed some of these skirmishes that were mentioned, hopefully they didn't distract you from the show too much.

The "New York Sucks" guy mentioned in a post above, must have been about 10 rows behind me and the post above describes you well.

Ton of aisle walkers throughout the show. I always find it funny how people complain about prices of beer at events, but continue to pay them. Or price of concert tix and then they decide to get up and miss a third of the show.

Ed, some of us are big guys (6'2" 230 lbs) I need an XXL shirt. I was in as doors opened and there were tons of PA plate shirts but the XXLs were gone.

All in all the night was great.

Cherry Hill Mike, it was nice meeting you a sharing some beers!

    Hey Blood,
I was at the first Beacon show and experienced something very similar. We had a guy that screamed at Eddie to "play a guitar"...guess he didn't realize Ukulele Songs meant Ed would be PLAYING A UKULELE ! I was surrounded by people that were texting and running in and out every 15 minutes to get more drinks. They missed the entire experience so my question is what is your fucking reason for being there? I can only imagine this is how they live their lives...distracted. God help those of us that are trying to focus..guess we'll have to double our efforts or stay home. If we stay home though would EV bother showing up to a packed house of assholes staring into their hands? Me thinks not. This was my first EV concert so I tried really hard to stay with him and what was happening on stage..weren't easy. Sorry you had a bad night.
