Parting Ways is one of Ed's best songs!

Also, one of the best live versions that I've heard, imo, is the one on N. Finn's "7 Worlds.." record. That is a very wonderful record, too.

Hope I get to hear it solo-style.

I apologize if this is a dumb question or has been answered already, but has Eddie or the band ever played "Drive All Night" before? It's one of my favorite Bruce songs (The River), and I was absolutely FLOORED when he played it!!!

  • Best crowd out of the either Beacon show. Even the "Livestrong" dude that got booted after the first set didn't kill the mood. (Row EE left side?)

    Amazing Arc and second set.

Falling Slowly is proof that Ed hasn't lost much if anything at all vocally. Speed of sound was cool and not having the strings was a gain. (I like the strings - just a nice change of pace not having them.

Best seats we have ever had to a show. (Wife's membership #426xxx) Orch left, row FF. TY 10C.

Ed is definitely on. He deserves big applause for calling out the shouters and the cameras the last two nights. Seriously, the cameras during first two songs were outta control. Here's a few tips, turn off the flash and lower the brightness - use a black wallpaper and cover the screen when you are taking pics. Makes you considerably less of a giant a$$.

Drive All Night was in the top handful of PJ/EV moments I've ever seen. Just unreal, and Glen sounded amazing on it. Very emotional when Big Man's nephew hoisted his sax up in the air.

I agree with the others who have said EV is on top of his game right now. In total command.

I like how you put that Ryan, in total command. It was good to see you there :D And you are absolutely right about the emotion on that song. Felt privileged to be a part of it.

Arc was unbelievable, brought tears to my eyes. And I was so happy to hear Without You, love that song. Thanks Eddie for a great night!

just got back! WOW what a show. We got there early (before 4). Saw Ed get out of the tour bus. Got to our seats (towards the back in ROW T). then some dude came over and asked if we wanted front row seats. I thought it was a joke or some catch, but it wasn't. We (Ashlee/Afroannie) and I were right up there. 1st row could touch the stage. Security was like only thing is no pica and no touching the stage. I did manage to sneak a few pics in towards the end, sorry had to being that close up with my iphone.

Highlights- Glen was awesome, i was pretty shocked, only played for 30 mins.
    - Ed bringing out Charlie for Betterman.
    - Drive all night with Clarence's nephew, Jake
    - Porch and Hard Sun were awesome!
    - Ed giving Afroannie a pic right after the first encore

I know we weren't allowed to take pics but tons of people were. We allowed to upload them on here?

Listening to some clips I was able to pull off with the iphone in my pocket of Drive all Night. I'd agree with the top moment comment. I got chills when he starting playing the sax. Ukulele songs sounded great live, and PJ/Into the Wild/covers were as good as ever.

  • Love the tower theatre. Great old timey intimate hall. GREAT show!!

Personal highlight: eddie talked about the spectrum and seeing a picture of a girl dressed as the fixer artwork. And that philly fans were so passionate. I took that picture! He was talking about urthekey and asked if she was there! She must not have been or she would have said something. Urthekey, where r u?!?

    Overall highlights:

Unthought known - got everyone on their feet
Parting ways - the guitar sound was sick!
Arc (couldve went on for 30 minutes or more and still would have loved every second)
Speed of sound - ed kills this solo
Falling slowly - duet with glen - their harmonies are incredible
Drive all night (!) - just a complete surprise and the instrumentation was perfect. Soooo good to hear that sax. Awesome awesome moment. Glen and ed's voices are so good together. Ed's organ playing was great
    Ed's guitar solo on society
Anything with the "girl" harmonies. I don't know her name but that is her characyter in "once". She was awesome

    HARD SUN!!! With sax!!!!!

  • Lowlights:

Very hot!! Steamin up in that piece! Thank goodness for the playbill style program! Whil being informative, entertaining, and generally cool served very well as a fan!

Poster. Wtf?! Hate the art, lettering, everything about it.

Dude (earlier referred to as "livestrong" dude) getting literally tossed. Seemed to refuse to get up then was physically lifted the fuck outta there with massive abrupt force by three security guys.

Damn! Almost forgot these additional highlights!!

Betterman!! Or should I say "betterman II"? Or uke version? The major style melody over the new uke chords is a very nice version!
Lukin request - someone shouted it (there was very little shouting overall, very good, if not great, crowd)
, Which ed followed by saying "really?!". Then said "how about I just say fuck you and play the next song". He then said directly "fuck you". Then played fast lukin with a furious ending!! Shit was funny.
Loved the waves ed played on his reel-to-reel.
And the stars on the tower theatre ceiling. Amen

  • Looks like a great show. Kinda bummed he played parting ways and girl from the north country. I was hoping to get one of those in Detroit. He probably won't repeat back to back.

Did he play parting ways acoustic or electric?

  • Electric. It had a sound like present tense. It was one of the best guitar tones of the night. It was a black and white guitar that looked like a danelectro or something.

Just got back from my first ever EV solo show! When the show ended, I was absolutely speechless-I knew it would be a fantastic show, but it was even better than I imagined it would be!! :D

    Highlights:
When Ed told the story of bringing his daughters to Strawberry Fields in Central Park, just before he sang "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away"-he mentioned how it was such a positive place, full of light.
Speed of Sound-this was breathtakingly beautiful with just the acoustic guitar!
Long Nights-so lovely it brought me to tears
Falling Slowly-Glen and Ed sounded wonderful together!
Drive All Night-very touching tribute to Clarence-so special having his nephew Jake play sax, and Ed play pump organ-I was blown away by this performance!
Hard Sun-the crowd was up on their feet and really into it!

My husband and I were very fortunate to be sitting with some very respectful people. Overall, I thought the Philly crowd was really good-I only heard a couple "I love you Eddies" and one song request -"Fatal".

Thank you Eddie for such a very special night- I feel so fortunate to have been a part of it!!

SPEECHLESS, Absolutly fantastic !! Crowd ...tons of energy and Ed fed off it. Best Set and I can't imagine any of the shows topping it, Beacon didn't.

Jake Clemons, A true living legacy of the Big Man and beautiful version of Drive All Night.

I am never disappointed when I hear and feel the music genius of Ed V. OH and don't let us forget Ed was SPOT ON....FLAWLESS tonight. THANK YOU EV

    Rock On

  • Yeah that whole john lennon story was an intense story. Ed said he had left ny today. And that before he left he wanted to take his daughters to strawberry fields. And past where yoko had lived. Then he was saying how that spot is probably the saddest spot in the world. And also that the park was beautiful. The moment and story was very ed and pj. Deep sadness and beauty and life all powerfully happening at once.

This led into two great singalongs of hide your love away and elderly woman behind the counter in a small town. Def great part of the set. Which was all great!

I agree the crowd was well behaved for the most part, just seemed like there were more hot chicks in the Beacon. So I guess I didn't mind all the yelling in NYC with all those beautiful babes. Just not use to that here in Philly. It was just a great week for me, definitely the best way to see Eddie and PJ, over multiple venues if you can afford. And I still want more, sorry being greedy, I love him live so so much. I felt Philly was obviously the best set list because it was more personal as I am a major Bruce and Clarence fan as are most Philly people, I wonder if any out of town fans felt that magic tonight?

I think everyone has covered how amazing this show was. Arc literally blew me away, and the first encore was absolutely brilliant. I was a little irritated (although not surprised) by the fight that broke out half way into Ed's first song. Things seemed to calm down afterward. Overall, great experience!

Wow! I would absolutely love to hear Drive All Night. Vedder and Springsteen are my heroes and front my two favorite bands, so of course I love Clarence and I cannot imagine what it would have been like to see Eddie play this with Jake Clemons! Really hoping I can get tix to the Seattle show and see one as great as this seems to have been.

Most of the highlights have been captured all ready...but here's my 2 cents :D

The evening started out quite nicely considering about a minute after I got to my seats, someone from EV's staff bumped us all the way to the FRONT ROW. Actually, we discovered that everyone in the front row(at least the on the right side of the stage) got a visit from the "ticket fairy".

Glen's set was really great, but unfortunately it was short and sweet.

There were a lot of nice surprises at tonight's show..Charles DeFabio showing up and Eddie dedicating Betterman to him..but later clarifying that only the chorus applied to Charles..not the part about being caught in an abusive relationship...thanks for the clarification Eddie :D
It was also a nice surprise for Clarence Clemon's nephew to come and play Drive all Night with Eddie & Glen. It was very touching to see Jake play the sax for this song.

Before playing Rise, Eddie told us the differences between ukes & mandolins by comparing the instruments to women...very funny stuff...I love Eddie's random stories.

Unthought Known was awesome..and got pretty much everyone to their feet :D

Arc of course was incredible...there's just no words for that song..just amazing soul-touching vocals.

Another highlight for me was Eddie & Glen singing Falling Slowly together...their voices together made the song even more powerful than it already is..

A personal highlight was having Eddie handing me his pic after fully rocking out a wonderful version of Porch :D:D

Hard Sun was a nice way to end the evening as Eddie was joined by Glen, Jake and Marketa. Eddie definitely had fun with the crowd on this one as he played his guitar right in our faces...next thing you know he'll be melting off faces like Mikey :D

I could go on and on...but as expected the show was amazing!!
Show #13 was a lucky one for me....
