While I already have tickets for tonight, did anyone luck out with late release tickets yesterday? If so, how - was it through Ticketmaster during the day or via the box office line pre-show? I only ask because I know a lot of people still trying to find their way in the door and want to know what their best option is. Right now I've heard no mention of anyone finding anything online through TM yesterday, but there seemed to be a fair number of people who ended up with something from the box office line (somehow).
\
Your best bet is to get to the Beacon early and wait on the drop line. I know tickets were released and once you bought them you had to go straight in the Beacon. I am not sure how many tickets were released but I do know the people I spoke to that were lucky enough to get tickets through the drop line ended up with orchestra seats. Good luck to all the real fans trying for tickets tonight.

Yeah, that's what I kind of figured. A note to those waiting on line:
Last night it was a bit of a clusterfuck in the sense that no people from The Beacon itself were monitoring that line at all, and it extended past some neighboring business entrances. In order to not obstruct those there were a few line breaks, and of course some dickheads started just entering said line wherever once it got to be after 8pm or so. So, yeah, point is if you have any hope of getting in tonight, get in that line super early.
My 1st Ed solo show had a fantastic time thanks Adam for the ticket , yeah a few asshole who yell shit out but they were told to shut the fuck up and they complied I too could of just left after Long Road and been totally satisfied great song .....Neil Fucking Finn unbelievable
Amazing show. The more I think about it, the more I love it.
10C tickets were 3rd row loge all the way to the left. Aisle seats too, which I always love. Beacon is such a fantastic venue that there isn't a bad seat IMO. The sound was amazing. This was the first time I had been there since the renovation and it's beautiful. Definitely one of the best places to see a show in NYC.
To the people that were ripped off by scalpers - I'm sorry, but maybe it's because I've been going to shows in NYC for 15 years, but come on, have some common sense. If the person doesn't look like a fan trying to get rid of extra tickets, chances are they're fake. This is nothing new. The same group of people are outside every show in NYC ripping people off with fake tickets. I overheard one scalper saying "fuck this I ain't coming back tomorrow, no one's biting".
I love that the posters and show-specific t-shirts were plentiful last night. Really cuts down on the people selling for 2-3X the cost on eBay. I didn't get to the venue until 8:10 and had no problem getting both, and when I went to the bathroom halfway through the set, there were still plenty left at the merch table. I absolutely LOVE the poster.
Great set, I hope everyone going tonight has as good a time as I did. Can't wait for MTL in September!
What time did Glen come on? And is Ed still coming on about 8.40p?
Glen - 7:30pm
EV - 8:30pm
Those are the announced set times per the PJ Guestlist email I got...but EV has been hitting the stage 10-15mins or so later than scheduled so far with regularity.
I said to my husband right after the show that talk of the idiots in the crowd would overshadow what a great show we just witnessed. All I could think while some asshole(s) were shouting while Ed was talking about Clarence was "LET THE MAN TALK". Eddie's intimate thoughts during these shows is what makes them so special, and ties all the music together. I think we had the majority of the morons in the balcony. I wish the people that can't appreciate the show as an experience would stay home.
Can someone give cliffs notes on the story he told about Bruce and Clarence please? thanks
looking forward to the tower theater on saturday and LBC show in 2 weeks
Ed talked about Clarence in his white suit and white shoes and how he still glowed even wout house lights up
Also said that he could have looked like an accountant who happened to play the saxophone.

Kat - with all due respect, how is commenting on the crowd at the show being off-topic? The crowd can both diminish AND enhance your appreciation of the show.
For instance, when the crowd just roared for a solid minute during Ed's "pause" in Betterman at MSG in 2010 - it was an epic moment. Similarly, if someone next to you was screaming while Ed was telling a story, it may have negatively impacted your opinion of the overall concert experience.
But per your request, I will withhold my strong negative opinions of the moron who was screaming for "Hail, Hail" during the moment when Ed asked the West Memphis 3 volunteers to stand up.
The show itself was insane, just perfection. Cant Keep uke version is much better than the Riot Act version. Long Road was one of the best performances ive seen ever Pearl Jam or Ed. Must say i like the normal Better Man more than the lullaby but it was still very cool and nice of Ed to changed the lyrics for the Big Man. The uke songs that stood out besides Cant Keep were Youre True and Sleepless Nights. His voice was tremendous as well, not sure if its because its early in the tour and its rested or because its just him on stage but hes sounded the best ive ever heard him.
The crowd was atrocious. You can tell it wasnt a normal Pearl Jam crowd because of all the posters left at the end of the show. It was a crowd full of older guys with younger girl friends who they were trying to impress, all wearing like Great Gatsby attire or something. People yelled out "lose the uke" or "use the guitar" and even stuff like "play leash you pussy." if you dont want to hear the uke and want to hear leash then dont come to this show, its a solo tour. why purchase tickets if you dont want to see this, its like they were surprised. People were talking like it was a social event and everyone was leaving their seats every minute it seemed like. The doors always being opened in the back was distracting. I was severely disappointed with people talking during Arc. you should be able to hear a pin drop during that, i find it disrespectful to do anything to disrupt that.
glen hansard is the man as well. everyone should watch him before Ed, its stupid not to.
the show ended at around 1040 if i recall correctly, i waited outside for Ed until 120 when he came out. got a few blurry pictures and he didnt get to shake my hand but it was still cool seeing him that close. hopefully ill meet him tonight, it would be really cool just to thank him for everything hes done.

In my experience the Chicago 08' shows were a lot less heckled - recently moved to NY and just might have to try and get back to see Ed at the Chicago Theatre. There's just that Ed/Chicago connection - solo wise anyway - cuz MSG - well it's incredible.
Welcome to NY! I hope you don't hold last night as your everlasting impression of NYC fans. 2008 United Palace shows and NJPAC (okay I know that's NJ but there were many from NYC too!!) were some of the best shows I've ever seen, and you Pearl Jam at MSG is not to be missed. MSG II last year was epic. EPIC! Oh wait, you knew that already

Cant realy review the entire show, but I hope is within guidelines
to mention this highlight in the performance last night.
First Agreed, Glen Hanson was awesome .
Great Van Morrison cover.
Second, I especially enjoyed Ed taking a few minutes
to talk about growing up in Chicago
& going to his very first concert and
sneaking down towards the front,
to see The E Street Band .
( think he said it was somewhere around 1978 but not sure )
Anyhow he went on about The Big Man
in all white, white shoes, big white hat ,
& the biggest , whitest suit you'd ever seen .
He then said that even tho the main spotlght was on Bruce,
the light shined and emminated over from the Big Man .
He basically spoke abpout how great a saxophone player he was,
and that the great light from Clarence is still shinig, and shall continue to shine bright.
Nice touch.
He then went on to a spectacular version of " Long Road ".
It was gripping !
Ed also said he made the adolescent mistake,
of assuming every rock and roll concert would be the same ( as Bruce and E Street ) .
He wouldnt name the 2nd rock concert ever- as he didnt want to hurt anyones feelings.
Pretty funny.

you should not have to repeat yourself kat! drop the ax!
Can't believe he played both Long Nights and Long Roads. I am so jealous right now, LOL!
Would love to see him do a solo show in Amsterdam, we certainly have a few great venues
Does anyone know what that photo was on the right side of the stage? It looked like a portrait and was lit up during the show. I was too far to make it out.

I noticed that too, but couldn't tell what/who it was of either.
About the only thing that match the "Long Road" surprise last night would be "Fatal" tonight (for me at least). I also hope "Immortality" finds its way back onto the setlist.
I was sitting in the upper balcony on the right side and I have to say the people around me were great! I didn't notice any yelling out of anything weird, just a lot of cheering and everyone was super into the show. I think I may have lucked out even though I didn't get great seats (although the venue is so small, there really is not a bad seat) I ended up sitting with some devoted fans! I also met some really nice folks at the show and before at a local bar.
We must've been very close to each other...i was balcony right, row c. Audience was fine after the crazy drunk lady that was shouting during Glen's set left...
I was row v far right. What was up w all the dudes standing against the wall and chit chatting? Take it outside fellas. dude nxt to me started off being cool then as drunkeness ensued joined in the exodus for beer runs and complained when arc started. Hes seen it too many x's as it was his 6th ed show. loser. Njpac was a magical show. Last nt too even w the sucky crowd
First off I'll say Glen Hansard is absolutely the man, class act and brilliant musician. Absolutely blew me away, and did not let me down at all as I was a big fan coming in and an even bigger one now. Shook my hand outside and said thank you to me. Great guy.
Eddie's sets were great, really enjoyed Long Road, Long Nights and Light Today in particular. However, compared to when I saw him in 08 at NJPAC, the crowd was full of fucking pretentious rich snobs and/or people who didn't understand or appreciate Eddie's music. People stood up in every song, and it wasn't like i could yell at the one or two people doing it, it was the majority of the crowd. Why show up to an Eddie Vedder concert if your gonna be on your Blackberry the whole time or talking to your girlfriend or doing anything other than appreciating the music? Assholes in front of me were smoking pot and texting the entire show while laughing and talking among themselves, and there were tons of people yelling out obnoxious things and/or talking all throughout the show. An absolute disgrace. At NJPAC the entire place was silent during every second of Arc. I don't think there was a single silent second of Arc at the Beacon. Could have been a much more intimate and all around better experience. Kinda ruined the night for me.
During the show I knew I had seen a few celebrities around but confirmed after waiting around for a long time after (2.5 hours) to see Eddie. Saw the Olsen twins, Josh Brolin, Kenny Rogers, a few surfing guys, and a few others I didn't know. Cool stuff. When Eddie came out after 2.5 hours of waiting I tried getting a handshake but he walked right by me and my buddy which was really disappointing but hopefully we'll get one tomorrow. All in all a good night, hoping for a better crowd and setlist tomorrow...Immortality/Parting Ways/Satellite are my wishes.
Now that you mentioned it, I'm remembering now how surreal NJPAC was; could have been where my seats were (center orchestra so no people walking in my line of sight!) but the crowd was quiet for the most part when Ed was singing. I heard the entire Yellow Ledbetter story for one thing. When Ed was talking about Clarence, people kept shouting out random s**t. There was one dude that kept yelling "HAIL HAIL". wtf?!?!
Anyone yelling tonight is going to get a good kick in the nuts. HEAR ME?!?!?!   And I don't care if you're a chick.
04. Can't Keep - Amazing on uke.
07. Long Road - Great version, dedicated to Clarence.
14. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard - Finally! I was hoping he would have pulled this out in '08 haha.
25. I Got You w/ Neil Finn-(N. Finn) HOLY SHIT. A great surprise.
26. Lukin - Love the acoustic version.
27. Porch - Love the Acoustic version - great rocker.
I don't know if it was just me, but I felt that Ed seemed a little 'off'.
- Sang the beginning of verse 2 in Can't Keep Twice.
- Messed up I Got You.
- I feel like Porch was doubled somewhere but can't really recall.
- Random songs his picking was a little stiff.
Not a complaint, just a comment.
... Now for my complaints....
Do people not know the definition of music? -> Series of beats and rests thats follows a melody with rhytym. Silence is essential to music, and when rediculous yelling/sreaming/talking is happening in the middle of a freaking song is taking place it takes away from the song. I can sort of understand between songs, but c'mon.
What is the deal with cell phones? There were 4 or 5 people around me that were surfing facebook / texting every song of the show until the few of us that don't like being blinded by the screens told them to put it away. Seriously, you're at a live concert! How can you be on facebook/texting?!?!
And then there was the camera policy, that was a big joke. "anyone taking pictures will be ejected." I can understand taking pictures when Hard Sun was paying with the lights on, but taking pictures with a useless flash on from behind me still blinds you when the light hits you...
I loved every part of the concert musically, but i found that people can be really inconsiderate to others..
Needless to say, I think this was my last Ed solo concert.
Thanks for the memories Ed, you put on great shows.

Why is he shying away from Longing To Belong and Satellite so far?? Two great songs.. not that they are all not great..
I'm surprised he didn't include Longing To Belong when he had the string quartet with him. Maybe Ed hasn't perfected it live yet, I think it might not come across well live maybe. Beautiful song though
Maybe.. but I have never heard Eddie make a song that beautiful not come across well live.. I mean, it seems he would just nail it.. Satellite also... I wonder if he bet someone that he could go all tour without playing 2 of the better songs on the album.. I just seems odd..

Long Road was AMAZING.

EPIC! Oh wait, you knew that already
where i was ..was great
of course people are yell and make noise..its called booze
and yes people do need the bathroom hence the doors have to open
3,000 people and becasue of a few dopes yelling you say the crowd sucks... who cares ...just enjoy yourself
to mention this highlight in the performance last night.
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

you should not have to repeat yourself kat! drop the ax!
Would love to see him do a solo show in Amsterdam, we certainly have a few great venues
I noticed that too, but couldn't tell what/who it was of either.
About the only thing that match the "Long Road" surprise last night would be "Fatal" tonight (for me at least). I also hope "Immortality" finds its way back onto the setlist.
