    Great show.

    Great set.

Really, who pays $80 to heckle? And shout "play the guitar"? Did they just let meat heads in off the street without telling them what kind of show this is?

Crowd was better than Philly last solo tour but the few chuckle heads that wouldn't shut up are a real drag.

EDIT: I was in Orchestra Row U right side aisle. TC 412xxx
omg i was right there with you. me and my best friend were on the end of the aisle but the left side of the aisle. we couldn't stand it, everyone was leaving every 4 seconds, there were so many people getting up and coming in and out of the doors it was ridiculous. and there were so many people saying EDDIEEE!!! and that stupid play the guitar bullshit, what the hell man! me and my friend agreed the concert was phenomenal but those shit heads made it so distracting.

what else sucks is that we saw ed come out of the theatre and he shook everyone's hand and shook my friend's hand. yet he didn't even see me because i'm so effing short. *sigh* not his fault i know but still sucks i'm so short i couldn't reach out or see anything because everything was in my way. i've "met" him twice but never met him, if that's at all understandable... she tried to make me feel better by touching my head with her ed hand and giving me some of his atoms

First off I'll say Glen Hansard is absolutely the man, class act and brilliant musician. Absolutely blew me away, and did not let me down at all as I was a big fan coming in and an even bigger one now. Shook my hand outside and said thank you to me. Great guy.

Eddie's sets were great, really enjoyed Long Road, Long Nights and Light Today in particular. However, compared to when I saw him in 08 at NJPAC, the crowd was full of fucking pretentious rich snobs and/or people who didn't understand or appreciate Eddie's music. People stood up in every song, and it wasn't like i could yell at the one or two people doing it, it was the majority of the crowd. Why show up to an Eddie Vedder concert if your gonna be on your Blackberry the whole time or talking to your girlfriend or doing anything other than appreciating the music? Assholes in front of me were smoking pot and texting the entire show while laughing and talking among themselves, and there were tons of people yelling out obnoxious things and/or talking all throughout the show. An absolute disgrace. At NJPAC the entire place was silent during every second of Arc. I don't think there was a single silent second of Arc at the Beacon. Could have been a much more intimate and all around better experience. Kinda ruined the night for me.

During the show I knew I had seen a few celebrities around but confirmed after waiting around for a long time after (2.5 hours) to see Eddie. Saw the Olsen twins, Josh Brolin, Kenny Rogers, a few surfing guys, and a few others I didn't know. Cool stuff. When Eddie came out after 2.5 hours of waiting I tried getting a handshake but he walked right by me and my buddy which was really disappointing but hopefully we'll get one tomorrow. All in all a good night, hoping for a better crowd and setlist tomorrow...Immortality/Parting Ways/Satellite are my wishes.

Why is he shying away from Longing To Belong and Satellite so far?? Two great songs.. not that they are all not great..

I'm surprised he didn't include Longing To Belong when he had the string quartet with him. Maybe Ed hasn't perfected it live yet, I think it might not come across well live maybe. Beautiful song though

Looks to be the best of the 4 so far.

Although I assume he'll just get better and better as the tour goes, with Seattle really blowing it out at the end.

This fake ticket thing, the cops need to get involved and the venues. That is just horrible.
It's this stuff that is beating people down.

Ed came on about 8:45 and played til about 10:50. The added string section was really a nice touch, I thought there was a great mix of Uke, ITW, PJ & covers. I thought Millworker was a better version last night then on previous tours also.

For those going tonight keep your eyes peeled around town for some Uke songs and H20 on the Road promotional posters. Someone from Ed's crew is hanging them up for the taking, I saw them all over near the venue, (they were in Hartford too). Got a few xtras H20's so if anyone wants one send me a PM. They're not on heavy stock and may have edges ripped from the scotch tape being removed but are a pretty sweet free-be, about 20x24 color.
The Uke songs one is B&W two sided & smaller, about 9x13, one side a pic of Ed w/Uke in front of his face, the other him jumping off a bluff, but I only got two of those so I'm gonna hang em front, back.
  • Wound up with fake tickets for this show. Karma is a bitch for whoever scammed. Was happy to see scalpers being locked up outside The Beacon. Hope they enjoyed their night in "The Tombs". Hoping for a miracle to come up with tickets for tonight!!!
  • I said to my husband right after the show that talk of the idiots in the crowd would overshadow what a great show we just witnessed. All I could think while some asshole(s) were shouting while Ed was talking about Clarence was "LET THE MAN TALK". Eddie's intimate thoughts during these shows is what makes them so special, and ties all the music together. I think we had the majority of the morons in the balcony. I wish the people that can't appreciate the show as an experience would stay home.

This is why he needs to do a fan club only show.

    2) He was looking around at the Beacon (which is fucking SO GOD DAMN Beautiful since they redone it)...and he said " Wow, Back in the Day I would have climbed the SHIT out of this place", and motioned with his hand what he would climb on and the last was a huge drop down into the crowd....."Who knows, could still happen" he said! Classic!!!!

Found this article today bout the show as well, it's actually real good!

Thanks Eddie, for a great show!

I was sitting in the upper balcony on the right side and I have to say the people around me were great! I didn't notice any yelling out of anything weird, just a lot of cheering and everyone was super into the show. I think I may have lucked out even though I didn't get great seats (although the venue is so small, there really is not a bad seat) I ended up sitting with some devoted fans! I also met some really nice folks at the show and before at a local bar.

Now that you mentioned it, I'm remembering now how surreal NJPAC was; could have been where my seats were (center orchestra so no people walking in my line of sight!) but the crowd was quiet for the most part when Ed was singing. I heard the entire Yellow Ledbetter story for one thing. When Ed was talking about Clarence, people kept shouting out random s**t. There was one dude that kept yelling "HAIL HAIL". wtf?!?!

Anyone yelling tonight is going to get a good kick in the nuts. HEAR ME?!?!?!   And I don't care if you're a chick.

Other than the couple of morons it was a great show. the story about bruce and clarence going into long road classic. the rest of the crowd was great overall a great night looking forward to tonight. I do not know how Eddie can top last night!!!
Wanted to hear "Long Nights", and he played it!!!

    In regards to scalpers:

You can pretty much tell which guys are the scam artists, and which people are actual fan clubbers trying to help a fan out.

Amazing show. All I have to say is I've wanted to hear I Got You ever since I bought the Verona bootleg in 2000. Hearing it with Neil Finn just made it even better.

Long Road was the other clear highlight, but the whole show was fantastic. Guess I got lucky with the crowd too. Everyone was fine around me. Looking fwd to tonight.

    Couple comments:
    1) I was SO hoping for "Parting Ways" when the strings were out...maybe tonight...
    2) I was a couple rows behind the Olsen twins. They are miniature.
    3) As I said earlier, I don't think last night's crowd was any more raucous or obnoxious than others this tour have been (comparing only to Hartford from experience, but other fanviews have made similar comments). Point is, I don't think that ANY crowd is going to be 100% respectful like they should be, for EV, or anyone. You just have to hope that the handful of complete jerkoffs aren't in your immediate radius and focus on your own enjoyment of the show.

OH MAN. Still on a high from last night, I CANNOT WAIT to see what tonight has in store! It's going to be tough to beat, but if one dude can do it, it's Eddie! Not only was the show AMAZING, after the show I GOT TO SHAKE EDDIE VEDDER'S HAND! Seriously a dream come true. Also snapped one amazing picture of him smiling HUGE- I'll post that later! Anyway: my friend & I got to the Beacon to pick up our 10c tix and to my surprise they said ROW L!!!! It was around 14-ish rows back, GREAT seats! With my high 10c number I will likely never be that close to Ed again! Couldn't contain my excitement in the Beacon, my friend and I were all giggly and restless, especially when we took our awesome seats! Thanks 10c! Then the show began! BULLETIN: if you are seeing Ed at all this tour CATCH GLEN HANSARD. Blew me away, and the rest of the entire audience! Such a talented musician, he's got me as a fan now. Then the main event. I don't have words to describe the feeling I felt at points during that show! All the uke stuff was beautiful! Wasn't a fan of Light Today on the album but after hearing it live I definitely like it much more. Can't Keep was another highlight, crowd went nuts for that! Long Road is a song that means a LOT to me and I totally was not expecting it. When he played the first chord I think I freaked and hit my friend  Ed told a great Bruce/Clarence story & dedicated it out to Clarence. I had tears in my eyes, it was absolutely a stunning moment. Breathtaking. THANKS ED for playing that! Millworker was another surprise! I LOVE his cover of it and when I heard the first chords, freaked again! Awesome cover. By the way, Ed's voice was in near perfect form. He sounds great, if not better and clearer than I remember him at MSG! Loved the ITW stuff, that album is a special album for me. Just Breathe and The End with the strings were another treat! When my friend & I were waiting on line for 10c tickets, we could hear Ed soundchecking those 2 songs. I was thinking that out of all songs it was strange that he was soundchecking those 2, but then I saw the strings and realized why! Was very nice to hear that again, just like at the MSGs! Unthought Known brought the house down!! So much fun to be able to stand up and dance and sing, I was rocking out :D Then Arc. It was unfreakingbelievable! Beautiful. Amazing encore, from then on, everyone was up on their feet! At that point it was a little hard for me to see, I was on my tippy toes leaning over the side of my seat because I am 5'3" and the dude in front of me was about a foot taller  But I managed! Everything with Neil Finn just made my jaw drop. Freaking incredible. I GOT YOU?! Oh yes. Then the wonderful Hard Sun, what a moment to share with that crowd! Ending with Dream a Little Dream was beautiful! All in all, AMAZING show!! Above and beyond my expectations. Also, lots of celebrity sightings: MaryKate & Ashley Olsen were sitting next to Ed's wife about 5 rows in front of us. Danny Clinch was also there. Matt Damon sat DIRECTLY in front of us, with his wife and some friends!!! He was bald (guess its for a role) so for a while I didn't recognize him until the people sitting next to us pointed it out. Then, waiting for Eddie outside the Beacon at the end, we saw a drunk Josh Brolin come out  Yes, I waited out, for about 2 hours and change until Eddie came out. I was shaking! Firm handshake, I was saying 'thank you' a million times, what a moment to cap off the night! Also hello anyone I talked to last night, and see anyone that's going tonight later!

    Loved the show!

Eddie is a true blue artist ... Amazing Songwriter and Performer. Hats off and heart open. Loved all the moments ... especially Long Road tribute to Clarence Clemons and "the collide" with Neil Finn. Wonderful!
I can close my eyes and feel the sound - what a gift! Thanks Eddie!

Love to all on this thread - thanks for redeeming my faith in fans. The handful of hecklers were quite a bummer. We were in the LOGE and had the crazy Italians behind us. Yikes! Passionate Buggers!

In my experience the Chicago 08' shows were a lot less heckled - recently moved to NY and just might have to try and get back to see Ed at the Chicago Theatre. There's just that Ed/Chicago connection - solo wise anyway - cuz MSG - well it's incredible.

Sorry to those who were tremendously ripped off - that's just wrong - preying on the vulnerability of passionate fans. The scalping stories all in all - is it often like this in NY?

My boyfriend troopered it out with me to get a moments Eddie siting - almost got to shake his hand, but the last minute entrance of the guy who crunched over me with his arm - well nuff' said. Karma on that. And a lesson for me ... hold your ground in NY! : )

And ... so loved "Dream a little dream of me" finale ... that was a magic moment.

To all heading out tonight ... Enjoy! Bring your enthusiasm, your passion, hope there are a few less hecklers so some silent moments - the space between notes - can fill the room to let the essence of the show really reign!

    Question:

While I already have tickets for tonight, did anyone luck out with late release tickets yesterday? If so, how - was it through Ticketmaster during the day or via the box office line pre-show? I only ask because I know a lot of people still trying to find their way in the door and want to know what their best option is. Right now I've heard no mention of anyone finding anything online through TM yesterday, but there seemed to be a fair number of people who ended up with something from the box office line (somehow).

Thank you EV for another memoriable night. So many high points. I have been chasing Long Road since Atlantic City in 2005. Many shows in between with no success. Did not expect it to come from the solo show. Wow. The whole show was spectacular, but the post uke PJ ambush of Long Road, Sometimes, Betterman and I am Mine was mind numbing.
