I am going to be there solo on Saturday as well...see you at the rocking chair corner in the 10C rest area??
No such luck unless someone has an extra wristband - no luck on 10c sale. I'm WAY in the back, but at least seated ( these aging knees wouldn't last thru the lawn....)

I'm so jealous of the Beatles show - would be worth being a couple of years older for that one.

Maybe we should have an alternate Friday party for all us aging rockers - we can sit by a fire and tell tales of concerts gone by....

    Love this post....

Great thing about growing old with PJ is seeing the new generations attending and enjoying a band we have appreciated for so many years. I love the diversity in PJ fans.

See you at PJ20!!! Can't wait!!!

    +1

    Great thread!

My first ever concert was in 1972-- Jethro Tull -- years before Ian Anderson felt the need to address this very issue-- Yes, he's too old to rock 'n' roll / But he's too young to die ...

Hey, I'm only 5 years older than Matt Cameron-- I'll stop when he stops.

    See you in Wisconsin--

This is a comment I heard directed at me at a recent Social Distortion show. The irony of this is that I am 8 years older than Mike Ness; the kid making the comment was at least 30 years younger than Mike. The older I get, the more I run into this sort of “ageism” at shows. Getting older does not diminish my love of music, it actually makes it grow as there are more and more bands to hear and appreciate. So, when you see a little “old” lady at PJ20, remember that I love PJ as much as you do. By the way, 9/4 will be the 47th anniversary of my first concert, the Beatles. I’ve also had the pleasure of seeing Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. Age does have its rewards. So, if I live through another Lollapalooza, I hope I am able to meet some of you and to celebrate my all-time favorite band with you all.

    your story is inspiring,
and proof that age is truly a " state of mind " .
    We are all mere mortals,
& may as well enjoy the quick ride we are on right now.

When I was 18 I listened to bands that were long gone (late 60's and 70's) and made music before I was born (1970). I think it's pretty cool that an 18 year old can listen to Pearl Jam's music made before they were born, but also get to see them live (sounding excellent) while the band still makes relevant music.

The only thing I think they miss out on is being able to connect emotions to albums that you were experiencing at the time the album came out. I can be transported to different stages in my past when I play Pearl Jam albums.

I don't follow you. It is. The Shirell's recorded it in 1960 then Carole King did in 1970. After that about 100 people recorded it as well.

My first BIG show was a Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum in 1985.

Scorpions, Ratt, Y&T, Metallica, Rising Force, Victory

Metallica was local, they were "our guys". (yea, Y&T were local, too. But it was different) They stole the show. Cliff Burton era-Metallica live was a powerful show.
