That's fucking awesome! How many people alive today can say they saw the Beatles??! AND you like Social D and Pearl Jam too... You should have asked that kid how many original members are still in "Social Distortion" today and then taken him to school!

"Bitch, I saw the Beatles" could also be a handy catch phrase.

I love the last phrase.

I think it's great that "older" people go to shows
I will probably be one of them in some time.

Why should you stop going to shows if that is what you love?

I saw Jethro Tull a couple o days ago, and they were amazing. Needless to say, I was amongst the younger in the crowd, but I did not mind at all. Good music is good music, and there to enjoy for anyone who wants to.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

This is a comment I heard directed at me at a recent Social Distortion show. The irony of this is that I am 8 years older than Mike Ness; the kid making the comment was at least 30 years younger than Mike. The older I get, the more I run into this sort of “ageism” at shows. Getting older does not diminish my love of music, it actually makes it grow as there are more and more bands to hear and appreciate. So, when you see a little “old” lady at PJ20, remember that I love PJ as much as you do. By the way, 9/4 will be the 47th anniversary of my first concert, the Beatles. I’ve also had the pleasure of seeing Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. Age does have its rewards. So, if I live through another Lollapalooza, I hope I am able to meet some of you and to celebrate my all-time favorite band with you all.

I'll add myself to the old school roster. My mom took me to see the Osmonds when I was 6 or 7. My first rock concert was Peter Frampton. Best show ever (besides PJ) was Queen in 1980 - blew my 15-year-old mind.
Going solo to Alpine too, see ya there!

I've seen them 3 times, would love to tell him about the shows. He's out of luck on the ticket stubs though. They are the only thing I collect and love looking through them about once a year and remembering the shows.
I wouldn't dream of you parting with a ticket...his mind works like "If she paid $4.50, I'll offer her $5!" Hope we get to meet you at PJ20, and keep rocking!

  • How I choose to feel is how I am. I am 54 and one thing that comes with "maturity" is that you don't give a fuck if you're being judged because you're not "acting your age" What the fuck does that mean anyway? There is no generation gap when it comes to this band - I've rocked with people older than me, less than half my age, and all those inbetween, and will continue to as long as I choose to.

Like Catwoman, I was a big Herman's Hermits fan, and I first saw them in concert in 1965. In 2005, I went to see Peter Noone in concert, had a chance to meet him, and told him "It's only taken me 40 years to meet you!"

When I first met my husband in 1971, we went to see the Who, and it was one of the best concerts I ever attended! I even still have my copy of the 45 they gave everyone who attended-"Won't Get Fooled Again". It's one of my most cherished pieces of memorabilia.

I am a brand new PJ fan, having first discovered them at Bridge last year. Having been a Neil fan for over 40 years now, I had never been to Bridge, and am I glad I went!

I plan to keep on rockin' til I can't rock no more!!

It does not matter if you are 5 or 105.

As long as you are into the music and respectful of the people sitting near you.

I love hearing oldster's stories of shows before my time. I bet you are the only one here who will know of this singer I met in 1991 -- Gary Puckett. Although you may not since he sang mush, but I still like him, lol.

My first pj show was on the lawn at Merriweather in columbia in 1998. I saw a white haired lady knitting, sitting on the lawn alone! She had to be 70 and I thought that she went to some good shows in her life.
Wow - good taste you got there - saw him at a club in Sydney last year - he looks great, but his voice is not as powerful as in his 1960's hits, songs re-arranged in lower key to suit his current voice. He had hits such as Young Girl, Woman Woman, Lady Willpower, This Girl is a Woman Now. Mush alright, but great pop songs I reckon!! ;)

I really wanted to see Ozzy/Crue but none of my friends' parents would let them go and my parents sure as hell weren't going to take me or let me go by myself.

Here are all the pre-high school shows I can remember.

    1984 (Rosemont Horizon):
    VH/Autograph on March 13. I was 13.
Maiden/Twisted Sister on December 21, a couple weeks after my 14th birthday. We camped out for tickets at the local Sears (Ticketron outlet).

    1985 (Poplar Creek Music Theater):
Maiden again with Accept on June 16 (13th row center!)
The Power Station/OMD on August 12 -- I went with my friend and his older brother and we were pretty sure we were the only people smoking weed on the sparsely-populated lawn, with the possible exception of a couple we saw waaaaaaaay at the top of the hill.
    Dio/Rough Cutt on August 27

Well, I 'm 57 and made it through another Bonnaroo last weekend. My first concert was the Beatles too, but in 1966. The ticket says it cost $5.75. If the Stones can keep Rockin' so can I.
