For either, go to the center of any town you'll run into multiple pizza/bagel places that's better than just about anywhere in the country I've been (can't really speak for places I haven't been).
We have regular pizza places (i.e. not Dominoes, etc.) that deliver top notch for free b/c the competition is so fierce. (to give you an example - the town I grew up in has a poplulation of over 100K- a Pizza Hut was built and opened in the middle of town on Main Street in the busiest shopping center. And it went out of business! I had never seen a Dominoes until I went to college in another state.)
I know, I know, you've heard it all before. College friends heard it too, and didn't believe me. Until they visited. Then, every time my parents visited (which wasn't often) from a few hours away, it was a couple pies and a couple dozen.
Love Chicago style pizza, too. But, really, the 2 are completely different things.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
If it wasn't too hot to walk to a pizzeria I would walk to one as it is too hot to spend time cooking. It's the time of year I eat much less.
There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous The risk I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math - The Mincing Mockingbird
really? Every time I eat anything from this place, it makes me sick

Pequod's is the shit. I love that caramelized cheese crust.
wow...
wow
I picked up pequod's pizza last night and i gotta tell ya, it wasnt great...
first of all, its all bread and very little cheese...the ingredients were fresh and the crust was the best part but i think lou malnati's wins overall.

I like Lou's. It's probably somewhere between my third and fifth favorite pizza, depending on my mood. And Pequod's does have its off days (as does any pizza place, really). I've never been disappointed when I've eaten there, but there have been a few times when I was less than thrilled with a pickup or delivery.
Just out of curiosity, which location was it? The original or the one on Clybourn? And what did you get on it?

i picked it up on the way home from work last night out of the morton grove location. i got the idea bc a co-worker of mine knows the owner and told me the sad story of how their daughter lost her battle to cancer at the age of 20. i stopped in, paid for the pizza and donated a few bucks for cancer research in a jar they had near the entrance.

i'd skip Giordino's. There was an article in the paper last week about franchisee's not using the proper ingriedients. They are going thru a messy bankruptchy right now with a lot of fighting.
Lou's will be good for your birthday party. While you wait for the pizza (45 minutes) you will have plenty of time to drink beer. then once you start eating, you will have plenty of pizza to soak up the beer. that's a win win in my book. the downside is, the cheese will back you up for a couple of days.
