The morality police called and asked you to resign your current position. Weiner showed poor character, humiliated himself and his wife and it's all in his personal life. If we want to start investigating the morality and character of members of congress, we would have no one in office. This man cheating or lying to his wife and having it dragged out in the public as if he owe's the public any apology is ridiculous. Our society likes to think you're due something or owed something.. you're not. Everyone get off their high horse and stay out of this man's bedroom, even if he's made a mess of it. If the government acted this way towards citizens, people would be outraged, but the shoe's on the other foot and somehow you justify it. It's nonsense. Anyways, if people are that offended, don't vote for him next time around and life goes on.

I would imagine (and hope) that even if his district leans very democratic, that they would at least take him down in a primary.

I think if the pressure wasn't on from the democratic higher-ups for him to resign before yesterday, it's boiling today.

Also, I feel sorry for his wife. I can only imagine the hurt and betrayal I would feel if I found out my wife of one year was engaged in multiple online sexual quests with other men ... now magnify that by being in the public spotlight ... bad times for her. :(
the pressure is on him to resign. but i think he may weather it.

by the way, i am sure she is crushed..i know how i felt when i found out how my ex was engaged in multiple online sexual quests with other men, so yeah, i know what she is going through.

I believe we stayed out of his bedroom but Weiner brought his bedroom to us. Weiner was the Gatekeeper. Twitter was the Keymaster.

I never said anything about being the morality police...in fact I said I dont care about the infidelity stuff...but the fact tht he lied to his constituents and his wife shows more than something as easy as "I made a mistake"...it shows me that he cannot be trusted by those he should be truthful too....it also calls into question his ability to use his best judgement

If the government acted what way specifically?

He lied about a personal matter in which the public doesn't really need to know the answer for any real substantive reason. Yes you can question his character, but in all honesty, the real question is does it prohibit him from doing his job and the answer is absolutely not. If everyone who cheated on their spouse or partner lost their job because of their character we'd have a massive amount of people out of work. I believe something like 60% of men and 40% of women cheat in their marriages. And in terms of my comment about the government acting this way - I mean the public does not want the government invading their privacy and private lives, yet look what happens when the shoe is on the other foot. If we seek morality, character and honor, do not look to politicians or figures in the public light... the nativity in doing so shows more on the viewer than the viewed.

showing poor judgement should make us question his ability to do his job. Using sound judgement is part of the job. again, not about the morality of it all, more about his judgement. I think it sheds light on his inability to use sound judgement...you seem to think it means that I am a prude who wants to invade his bedroom.

So would you force the removal of any public official because of poor judgment? Does that include poor work performance which is just as equally important when discussing judgment? What you're alluding too is full accountability, and in all honesty, we've never ever demanded it, nor expect it. You claim in this instance poor judgment shows he's unable to do his job, couldn't you say the same of the endless laundry list of policies and actions of every other government official? My point is, you're asking or basing this on something that has and never will be done. If he resigns it will be because of shame and public pressure in some form of false morality code - not because he can't do his job or that people really have no confidence in his ability to do his job. Lastly, the government does get into people's business, but not necessarily your private affairs. Some policies do that, but in terms of infidelity leading to lost of job or ability to do your job? Nothing like that at all.

people are put through the very public court system everyday for things that shoud be private matters.

If you do something illegal it doesn't matter if it's personal or not... people somehow feel in our society (as a whole) as if it is ok to be on trial for something that's not illegal. We have low-brow morals yet expect others to act as deities. It's just for entertainment and false outrage.

well if we are talking about shoulds...there are a lot of things "illegal" that shouldn't be...
what about my posts have led you to believe I am outraged by his behavior?

AGAIN THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INFIDELITY...just the fact that as a public official you need to realize that messaging your dink maybe isn't the smartest idea. what is so hard to understand about that? I am not asking for perfection, just better decision making abilities...
the problem people have and always will have with public officials is the attempts at a "cover up"...

he has to resign. he is compromised now. he can not defend the progressive ideas that he has so passionately expressed anymore because he is beholden and can be potentially controlled by this little group that has been stalking him on facebook and twitter threatening to release more compromising details. he is screwed...

that is a pretty low trick if you ask me. breitbart is the only asshole in this country that pulls these shenanigans to catch only democrats in situations that would not be an issue if not for him creating these sideshow issues and sensationalizing these things...

agree on most of what you say and i fkn hate breitbart w/a passion. but........this would have gotten to the next neocon numbskull down the block, breitbart is a shitty messenger but a messenger nonetheless. i do wonder why he is going back on his public vow not to release the upclose cok shots and now apparently has.

someone else is pulling his string to bury weiner, and now he is officially dead & bloated, what a doofus.

If he DOES resign, which I hope he doesn't, he probably ends up with his own TV show. And honestly, I think he might be more effective that way.

    He should resign.

Not because he sent the pictures, but because he was STUPID enough to do so.

In other words, get him out of there because he's not smart enough to be a politician.....oh wait....nevermind.
