coming from LA, first time to Canada.

Member # 106XXX. I may have an extra ticket too depending on if some of my U.S. friends can make it.

right now booked hotels at the Holiday Inn Express by the venue (Hastings)and the Delta Burnaby downtown. Can't decide which is the better option to keep. Free breakfast at the Holiday Inn and walk to the show, or the Delta, a bit nicer hotel, but no free breakfast and have to find and pay for rides to/from the show. I will be there Sat-Tues (hoping for that added show on Monday!) so I will want to be able to do some sightseeing from either place. I am not renting a car.

Taking suggestions from locals or people who have been to Vancouver a lot on which hotel to keep. I have seen some good suggestions on this thread as for things to do.

How about the Executive Inn Burnaby? It's closer to the venue than the Delta, but closer to a skytrain than either of them, so you can get around easier. I don't think it has free breakfast, but it has a Tim Horton's across the parking lot and a Starbucks a few minutes walk away. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, no casino though!

I would recommend NOT staying at the Delta, it's hard to get anywhere from there without a vehicle. The Executive would be a much better location.

I would consider the Delta Vancouver Suites at 550 W. Hastings or another hotel in this area. I have stayed here a number of times for leisure even though I live in Greater Vancouver. It is in downtown Vancouver but should be an easy bus trip or $20.00+/- cab fare. I am familiar with both other hotel locations and other than proximity to venue the areas have little going for them. Not unsafe or anything like that just downtown you're close to everything that makes Vancouver a pretty special place.

I personally would stay downtown if you are here for a few days. Holiday Inn Express near the venue is great for after the show but kinda out of the way if you want to sightsee the rest of the days.

Ever tried to get on a bus or catch a cab after a show at the Coliseum?

Yah but he's only going to be at teh coliseum for one night (maybe 2 ;))
I guess you have to decide whether or not its worth it to commute the rest of the time or just the one night of pandemonium

i would recommend staying at the holiday inn. if you're not going to have a car, then it would just be easier to get back to the hotel after the show. you can always just take transit from the holiday inn to downtown and do sightseeing. if you want a nicer hotel, then i would recommend downtown where there is more to see and do cause burnaby is a suburb. if you are worried about taking transit from the venue to downtown hotel after the show, i'm sure you can find a ride with another 10c member or take transit with someone. i will be taking transit downtown afterwards.

I still recommend staying downtown if you are going to do any sightseeing, that will cut down on additional bus trips on your other days here. And yup, I take the bus after any show at the Coliseum...in fact I take the bus past the Coliseum every day.
If you stay in a hotel right near the venue you are in a pretty sketchy part of town and there's not mush to see without going towards downtown, and if you stay downtown you can walk to a lot of places on the non-concert days or easily catch buses or the train.

135? Lol... i take that when i go downtown from school occasionally. I don't think near the colliseum is sketch but def not a lot to do. If it were me I'd stay downtown for the convenience seeing as the show is only one night out of the trip.

Its a pain in the ass trying to take the 10 or 135 downtown from the Coliseum after a show. Its actually smarter to stay in that Holiday Inn and take a 20 minute Bus Ride into the downtown core in your off time. Hotel being across the street from the venue is far more valuable then your hotel being close to sightseeing location for downtime, this is coming from someone who has travelled a fair share to see shows. After a show at the coliseum, there is tons of people waiting for like a bus that goes every 20-30 minutes, you usually have to wait 3 or 4 buses. Also, that area around the coliseum isnt sketchy. It doesnt even get bad until you pass Clark heading west on Hastings. You would have to walk for quite some time from Renfrew to hit Clark. Its not like you can just "stumble" upon Main and Hastings from there.

Are liquor stores open on Sunday in Canada? That is the only place to buy beer, right? I remember not being able to buy beer up there in convenient stores.

There are private cold beer stores open on Sunday...but not late... the BC Government Stores are not open Sunday......Alberta stores are all private and open until late on Sunday...not all of Canada is closed on the Sabbath...but thanks for reminding me to stock up on Saturday when we arrive in BC. Do not go to 7-11 or the grocery store to buy beer...they do not have it...

I think most are only open until 9. CB&W stores are usually open until 11.

    oooh first post ;)

I'm considering going to this, as I've planned a US/Canada vacation in September and I would love to catch a show there...I've just recently progressed from a casual PJ listener to an actual fan & joined 10C, and it would be my first time seeing them live.

Its really not, its a concrete block with terrible sound, and in a poor location. Unfortunately Keith Urban is playing the good venue that PJ usually plays the following night so I guess they need the extra day before for stage set up.

I will be driving from Oregon alone for this concert. And I will have an extra 10 Club ticket for it. If you end up going to the concert by yourself, let me know if you are interested in the ticket.
