    Sorry about those Cowboys. ;)

I did have Bailey and Murray on my fantasy team... no wonder I don't like em! They let me down too!

Nothing like watching football on Smurf Turf either.

    Take care, buddy.

A third of the way Rob! Progress! Upward and onward. Hang in there and know we're still thinking of you even if we're not posting as frequently. I still have my Save the Pooper bracelet on. Makes me laugh every time. In a good way, thinking of your humor and 'tude! 8-) But then again the SILLY season is upon us. Plans? Any Euro tours in your future?

Would like to know how you became a San Fran Giants fan AND a Cowboys fan. Neither here nor there but San Fran and Dallas? Was it the 70's Cowboys or the 90's Cowboys that got you? :P

You explained to me once how you got to be a Giants fan but where do the Cowboys fit into this scheme of things?

I just had to ask as I also find it interesting which teams fans root for. Some are obvious but my neighbor grew up in New Haven, Ct and he's a Red Sox, Dodgers and Colts fan. When I asked him about it, he said the Sox, because of being in close proximity to Boston, Dodgers because he lived in LA for a spell and Indy because as a kid he followed Bart Star and the Baltimore Colts and followed them to Indy. So, I always wonder, like in NYC, is it Islanders, Mets, Jets, Nets? Yankees, Rangers, Giants, Knicks? Or some other combination. And what happens out west where there may be more expansion teams? Personally, I'm a Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, Rockies, Broncos fan. Broncos and Rockies for living out in Colorado during the 80's.

So, who do you root for and why? But SF Giants AND Dallas Cowboys, that's just weird!

    Peace.

Indy because as a kid he followed Bart Star and the Baltimore Colts and followed them to Indy.

You probably meant johnny unitas, not bart starr.

OK....my sports loyalties...I hesitate to tell the stories but, then again, I guess you all already know I'm older than dirt

SF Giants - my dad grew up just across the river from NYC. my grandpa used to listen to all the NY Giants games on the radio. he and my dad were both Giants fans. My mom, living in NYC, was a lifelong yankees fan. fucked up, I know, but what are you gonna do  ? anyway, I grew up just north of columbus ohio and in the mid 1960s  my dad took me to a giants-reds game at old crosley field in cincinnati. mays homered, mccovey homered and jim ray hart homered. I said to my self "wow, this is a bad ass team!" 45 years later, they finally proved me correct.

Cowboys - again, get in the way back machine. the year was 1967  . the warm weather cowboys went up to green bay and gave the packers everything they could handle in the 20 degrees below zero NFL championship "ice bowl." the cowboys lost on the final play of the game, but I was impressed by their grit and they became "my team." right now, I'm about ready to disown them :x .

funny how I have one team in the most liberal city in the country and the other deep in the heart of texas

it's drip, drip, drip time again. I'm sitting at the chemo place. the anti-nausea stuff is in and now I've got two 250ml bags of chemo medicine going in. there are probably 6-7 other people here, doing the same sort of thing. fucking cancer - it's everywhere :x

the doc says I'm doing great; the nurse is amazed how well I'm doing on this regimen since she has another guy doing the exact same thing who is not doing well at all and...for me, the best news....I finally hit 170 on the scale again  . when this crap all started, my weight was down to 150 (and sometimes even below that  ). I owe it all to beer and the mcdonalds dollar menu....I go there nearly every morning after taking gracie to the park. bad for me yet good for me. cholesterol is the least of my worries.

the good thing about the calendar of my treatments is that I felt good for thanksgiving and I ought to feel good for christmas. since the treatments are two weeks apart, there is one week of feeling like crap and the next week of feeling better. totally the luck of the schedule. new years eve, I should feel like crap but, hell, I can't remember the last time I stayed up for it anyway

I was thinking it was going to be Cowboys bed linens, pajamas, wall paper, carpet, posters, etc. in the bedroom, seeing that you have the SF Giants room. Loved the history anyway and thanks for the correction. Who is Bart Starr?

Anyway, hang in there and its nice to hear you might be able to enjoy the holidays! NYE is overrated and ametaur hour anyway. Just think, one small step closer to that ultimate goal of kicking cancer's sorry little ass.

Best to you, the misses and Gracie. Be well!

As noted above, I am also of advanced age and remember the ice bowl. The late 60s-early 70s were some great years for the Cowboys and gave Dallas a reason to feel good about itself again, after the tragedy of JFK's assassination. :(

However, football has never appealed to me the way baseball does so I can't say I've been a fan. The team's last few years in particular have been more about drama than the actual sport.

In spite of the suckiness of the chemo and all, there's a lot of good news in your post! It's great to hear that the staff think you're doing well. And congrats on getting back up to your fighting weight.

Hang in there for this week of feeling like crap and think about how good you're going to feel for Christmas.

it's drip, drip, drip time again.

Well Rob, I hate to inform you but the Mad Taper has struck again! You should be receiving a fairly heavy package by Thursday, Friday or Saturday of next week and you might want to get to it before Gracie does. There's a few surprises in there for her and knowing what I know, she'll sniff them out if she doesn't knock the post man over when he delivers it. Its going by camel over the back roads to avoid import/export, tariffs, duties and other silly postal type government regulations and non-sense but if I did my taping right, you should get it. That being said, I hope you're feeling well enough to fully enjoy everything in the box. Be well & merry, merry!

    Peace.

I know what you mean about medical costs. Glad to hear yours are covered!

    Hope you're doing well.

well.....that was a crappy weekend, but I made it thru.

On friday, I was so sick of the chemo pump and so craving a nap, I went to the place early for a disconnect....they can just "push" what's left. So, I came home and went to bed. got up for KFC and even that didn't taste good

Saturday, I spent a good part of the day in bed. yesterday, I rallied and watched a bunch of football

feeling much better today....we got a little dusting of snow and gracie enjoyed that at the park. 5 treatments down; 7 to go!

You are a strong person!!! Very inspiring!!

Stay strong, and keep that sense of humour!!

The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". That's what time it is. It's "Now". - Damien Echols
