    Hmmm.....

I've been waiting on this announcement for a while like a good 10c member. Sept 4th is my birthday, so sweet, sweet justice on that.

Only thing is, I don't think I'm going to bite on my 10c tickets because I intend to do the damn thing with a group of my buddies, all of which don't have memberships.

We want to tent it up or sleep in our cars tbh.

So, those shuttle prices. Is that $60 per person or just $60 each day for the two people with tickets?

has someone done the math? Are the travel packages worth it?

I am doing some math and something must be wrong.

    $1800
    -tickets $334
    - Shuttle $120
    - Expo $100

    - buffet (say $100)

    $382/night for lodging?

I live in Elkhorn, WI about 10 minutes from Alpine. Looks like I will have to open my yard up for some campers!

Yep. It's what I'm struggling with right now. As of now I'm going but may $1800 for 3 days in Wisconsin is hard to swallow. My friends wedding in Jamaica for a whole all inclusive week is around that price with airfare. I could go to so many cool places for this much money and still see Pearl Jam countless times in the future. If it was somewhere cooler than Alpine Valley it wouldn't seem so steep.

i guess there is a poster too which is cool. Lets say that is $50. then the other little perks we get. Let's say that is valued at $50

that knocks the lodging down to about $350 a night. Steep as hell. But I guess if you consider the convenience of everything being pretty much sold out at the moment... maybe its worth it? Is it? Im trying to justify this.

For all the bad decisions I think the 10C has made in the past, $130 for both nights of the 20 year anniversary weekend kinda makes up for it.

That is a ridiculously reasonable price, and it makes the trip from CT affordable.

I think it said 10 Club priority seating with no mention of seniority based seating or lottery for specific rows as they usually do.

Also, are the reserved seats in front of the stage or is the lawn in front of the stage?

    Please advise, DrDeal

Dang, was hoping the anniversary shows would be a bit earlier (before the start of the fall semester).

I too busy at the start of the semester to travel on labor day weekends. :(

Reserve seats are in front of the lawn. There is a nice covered seating area down below with the lawn seats above going up towards the top. If you haven't been to Alpine you are in for a treat. It's one of my very favorite venues to see a bigger band. If the weather cooperates this will be an amazing experience for PJ fans imo, especially those that haven't been to Alpine before.

Here is a link to a decent picture that gives you an idea of the setup:

I did a few sums and worked out it would cost me about $1000 for all expenses from Austin, including food/drinks/tickets, flights and 3 nights in a 3.5 star hotel within walking distance of the Milwaukee shuttle. Taking up the 10C travel packages would cost me about $400-500 (40-50%) more to stay in a 2 star (?) hotel, for the convenience of being a bit closer, getting a poster, and expo center.

Good on the 10C for organizing various packages and securing rooms in places that might otherwise be booked out, but it is hard to see how the travel packages aren't way overpriced. Judging by the weekend/summer/holiday rates I can find (e.g. $110 per night + taxes for Alpine Valley Resort), and using the prices of the tickets/expo ... the 3-night PJ packages equate to almost $300 per person for 2 buffet lunches, a poster, and a few short shuttle rides to the festival. I can't tell if transport to/from the hotel from say Chicago/Milwaukee is included, I'm thinking it is not.

I guess the only concern is not missing the shuttle from Milwaukee, and what sort of spot it will allow you in GA.

Seems like they are basically charging each person a prime single room rate.

$900 a head=tickets, hotel, access to the expo, poster (Id hope its the official show poster) and a designated driver with one click sounds pretty good to me. I wouldn't expect much from the buffet, but you never know, a free bottle of water would be nice when venues charge $5. That's the justification, convenience.

You will not find economic justification (unless you sneak in four buddies and charge them for floor space) ;)

AVR is either 214.99 or 279.99 on concert weekends. Friday night is the same price because of Labor Day weekend. don't forget the 11.5% taxes.

If I was going, I would be trying for the APV resort in a heartbeat. And I forgot to mention that if you do score the package you are in reserved seats for one night-another bonus.

So I'm in London at the moment, waiting for the QOTSA gig tomorrow and what did I hear a few hours ago via sms by two lovely fellow tenclubbers? The announcement has been made and oh wow what an announcement! I was in the middle of a shopping binge and couldn't stop smiling since then.

Thank you Pearl Jam for pimping my US vacation :D See you there!

I love Alpine Valley and have sat lawn and in the seats but only reserved seats for PJ. Yes, it is the middle of nowhere and getting out after a show is BRUTAL! That said, it is a magical place, it feels intimate for its size and the sound is better than most outdoor venues. I was there for PJ's "Ice Bowl" show and even in 20 degree weather it was great. I was excited that they were playing this venue but less excited about timing and having to buy tickets for both days. My son's birthday is the 3rd so I can't see paying 250-335 to see Pearl Jam and a few other band for that price on Sunday since I won't ditch my kiddo to see PJ. Toronto...here I come! First show outside the U.S. Woo Hoo!
