Great! Another TexanDon't worry about the tickets..you guys can try the public onsale or ask around The Porch forum for people with extras if you and your friend aren't picky about sitting next to strangers. I don't think finding extra GA will be a problem. Cya in September!

I haven't been back on the site just out of sheer disappointment. Then i get on tonight and
I see all you guys making your plans, you're killing me!!!! :( :(
Seriously, I'm hoping to score tickets with the general public sale next week.
I'll let you know how it goes. If all goes well, I'll jump in with the planning. But right now,
I don't wanna jinx myself. I still can't believe I got shut out.......so bummed :(
Thanks D, that's really great of you to ask. If it were just me it wouldn't be so hard, but it's me and my husband and I just feel too awkward trying to get so many tickets (2 each night).
But thank you for offering to help.
Like I said, I'm hoping I get tix next weekend. You could keep your fingers crossed for me

I just spoke to Karen at the Super 8. She said she had heard from someone from Florida, whom I assume would be AliveinFL. There is a guy at the "Two Seasons" whom she has asked about hosting a pre-party. He does it every year for Jimmy Buffet and raises money for some charity. However, his place is a 10 minute drive away. Further, she said on Labor Day weekend the police are all over the place looking for DUIs and speeders, especially when Alpine Valley has a show. The 50 mile radius of AV will get extra attention that weekend. She said-"After all, Wisconsin is #1 in the USA for drinking"
I vote we rent the Super 8 conference room for the pre-party. It has nice tables and 35-40 chairs. You can see a picture of it here:
http://www.super8.com/Super8/control/Bo ... tyId=03296
You can order pizza or bring in food from the nearby food places. She also said when the the weather is good, the Jimmy Buffet people party in the parking lot waiting for the rooms to open up. It's pretty loose. So there would be space available outside too, which is where any smoking would have to occur. She worried about people having to stand, but I told her it would fluid with people standing, and coming and going. She was not sure whether people could bring beer or liquor into the conference room, but since it is a private party, it is probably OK, but she will check. The room will cost $90 to rent, and I put a hold on it with a credit card. People coming to the pre-party can chip in a few bucks.
Doesn't this make sense and give everyone the most flexibility? No one will have to drive anywhere after a long day of travel. Just check in and stop by the party!
BTW there are a few rooms booked by non-PJ people because of the county fair in Elkhorn. I assured her that we are all mostly older than college age and we won't be a rowdy party they have to call in the cops for. We are just looking to meet each other and get psyched and rested for two days of rock n' roll.Charles

Wow chaslil, you are on top of it!
Sounds like fun. I think there is a Wal-Mart nearby too. I am heading there or to a grocery store to get tailgating supplies, i.e. food and beer, and a cooler. Oh, and lawn chairs.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

On the topic of bus charter- Do the buses have any priority as far as getting out of their lot compared to cars?
We will rent a car from Chicago and we might not want to go in as early as the charter bus both days, especially on our reserved day. But if that bus can save 2 hours of gridlock leaving....Charles
"The Who is my life. Pearl Jam is my retirement"0 -
I will ask the charter bus company I am working with about priority exiting. The conference room sounds good to me. Will definitely chip in on the conference room. Yeah, I have been talking to Karen at the Super 8, she is great. She also have my number in case someone cancels she will call and I will post on here for anyone still looking. Also Just a request. I already have my 2 tix(res/ga) but a friend I met at MSG 2 last year moved to Costa Rica and wants to make the trip solo. She also got shutout in the presale. If anyone has a package they would like to split that would be awesome. I told her I would try to help out since I was at MSG 2 without a ticket and she hooked my up about an hour before the show for one of the greatest nights of my life. This is the least I could do in return for her. I will definitely be in for any preparty and transportation options IF I can score tickets next week. Shut out like many others, but I hope I can score two single seats next week!! If I'm shut out completely, I've got a single King room I'll open up for someone, though I hope it's not the case! ^^^^^ Karen told me that closes at 9pm. . .then they have to start "quiet time"
The smart plan would be blocking all of the PJ ppl in one section of the property.0 -

Here's the response from Alpine when asked if charter busses get priority exiting of the property:
Hello,
Charter busses are not given any specialized treatment when it comes to leaving the property after a concert.

I'm still working on the Saturday shuttle. I would have to pay the $750 out of pocket now plus the $100 parking at the venue. If we get 40 people that is a little over $20 a person. Not too back. However if anyone wants to head up Sunday's trip PM and I will give you the contact info I have. I'm not really willing to throw up $1500 for both days. I'm sure you all understand. Ah- she didn't mention the 9 p.m. "quiet time", but I certainly understand it. I think it will still be nice to have that meeting room for us to meet each other until then IMO. My Wife will probably want to turn in by 9 p.m. anyway, but I'm sure those of us who want to stay up a bit will figure out something. If there was a bar next door it would be a no brainer.
That thread about Wisconsin cops was a bit bothersome, I just don't want to be driving around in a strange little town.
Last year the Town of Delavan Police Department arrested 150 motorists for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant and two motorists for violation of Wisconsin's Absolute Sobriety Law. Statewide, there were more than 45,000 convictions for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and more than 100,000 citations issued for non-compliance with the mandatory seatbelt law.
If you check out the google earth view, looks like a nice green park or lawn across the street to the south, the Mobil Station to the north looks like it has a full restaurant, and Perkins is across the highway.
We got 3 months to plan!Charles

Maybe to limit the risk/exposure paypal payment could be setup with the bus service you are working with.
Can you check?0
