Found out I have cancer 2 weeks ago  . Saw U2 last night  . It was very life affirming and good for me.

Pearl Jam will always be my favorite band but I don't mind a big production show. U2 is the antithesis of PJ. That stage is pretty unreal.

it's pretty amazing setup isn't it? i'm not a fan of stadium shows but that production makes it great

I went to both shows at Giants Stadium in 2009 - night 1 was right up front next to the stage, night 2 we were about the 50 yard line on the field. Great show from both spots. I have heard from friends that saw shows from seats in lower sections and from the nosebleeds - everyone reported that it was a fantastic experience. I think they really do a great job with this show.

cool. we were going to go to Oakland June 7, but had to cancel the trip. Ha, it just occurred to me now we have tickets to American Idol that night. odd.

We are going to see U2 in July - Philly, NJ, and Pittsburgh.

Chris - if you want, I can check around for tickets, usually people are trying to sell/trade. All face value too.

I have an extra for Pittsburgh too

I'll ask a couple friends of mine if they want to make the trip. Thanks for the offer, though. I appreciate it.

    PHOTOS: U2 ARRIVES IN WINNIPEG

As rumored, U2 arrived in Winnipeg Friday and immediately beat a path to the Burton Cummings Theatre. That's where the band's gear had arrived on Thursday for what's expected to be some kind of documentary/video shoot with director Davis Guggenheim.

Several @U2 readers were at the airport and theatre to welcome the band to Winnipeg. U2 landed at the airport at about 5:30 pm and visited briefly with fans there. Then at the theatre, it was Bono and Adam who spent the most time greeting and signing autographs for the dozens of fans who'd been waiting all day. Heather A. tells us that fans outside could hear the band playing the following songs inside:

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
    Love Is Blindness
The Fly (for the 5th time)
Even Better Than The Real Thing
    The Fly
    One
Blowin' In The Wind - Where The Streets Have No Name
Even Better Than The Real Thing
    The Fly
    Magnificent
    Mysterious Ways
Until The End Of The World
    Elevation

Commentary: That looks like it could be a cross between a Glastonbury rehearsal (remember Adam hinted that they'll be heavy on 1990s songs there) and a documentary/video shoot for the expected Achtung Baby remaster later this year. Heather tells us that Bono confirmed to local news outlets that the band is shooting a documentary.

Huge thanks to Heather A., Rick S., Greg M. and Mark N. for sending us a couple dozen photos from today's activity. We've added their photos today to the same slideshow that we posted yesterday. That's now grown from eight to 31 35 pictures. Enjoy!

U2 BREACHED SUNCORP STADIUM NOISE LIMIT WITH 100-DECIBEL-PLUS 360 DEGREE WORLD TOUR CONCERT

PROMISES to keep noise levels down at Suncorp Stadium rock concerts have failed.

Reports obtained by The Sunday Mail show Irish supergroup U2 exceeded the regulated 100-decibel limit inside the venue at one of their two 360 Degree World Tour concerts in Brisbane last year.

The group notched 105 decibels, but will not be fined for the breach, unlike the $50,000 penalty the band received from their hometown of Dublin earlier in the tour.

The reports also reveal one of the five external sites Stadiums Queensland is required to audit is still failing to accurately record noise levels and recorded excess levels for U2 as well as Bon Jovi a few nights later.

Tens of thousands of people live around the stadium in some of Queensland's most expensive suburbs such as Paddington, Auchenflower, Red Hill and Milton.

The flaws come five years after a problem with the "skewed" site at 105 Hale St was discovered and recommended to be fixed, and two years after Sports Minister Phil Reeves failed to explain why they had not been fixed.

The reports show acoustics contractor Cardno Consulting had measuring difficulties at the noisy Hale St site, where the same problems occurred during concerts by Robbie Williams in 2006.

The stadium had 21 complaints and three compliments over the two U2 nights last December but only one complaint for Bon Jovi.

"There were some slight exceedences on night one and none on the second night," the report said of U2's performances.

Mr Reeves yesterday said the problem site would be reviewed next year.

But Opposition sports spokesman David Gibson said the five-year delay was another example of poor management.

"It is disgraceful that not only has the Government failed to fix the 'skewed' monitoring station but that they also fail to adhere to or enforce their own regulations," he said.

might have to go to StubHub or something like that. and the closer to the show, the lower the prices. GA is best way to go.

On StubHub it would be cheaper or TM? I would definitely go GA.

I have a feeling they'll probably break out something like The Fly or Love Is Blindness, since they performed those for the documentary.

  • just got back from the Winnipeg show. it was good. especially for $45. I paid that to sit in the bleeds in 1997 for Popmart! there's just nothing unpredictable about a U2 show. it is so overly produced that it has to be completely coreographed. which is fine, but I really dig the idea of Ed coming up with the setlist depending on how he's feeling minutes before a show. there's just something so completely awesome about that.
