Tonight's show in Mexico City begins the final leg of U2's 360 tour. Most of these dates had been rescheduled from last summer due to Bono's back surgery. I am looking forward to following the shows as they make their way across the continent. Hopefully they will broadcast one of the shows like they did for Sao Paulo last month or maybe even over youtube like Rose Bowl in 2009.
I will be attending shows in Philly, NJ, and Pittsburgh, and connecting with friends from allover the world. should be a great summer

Don't they play the same setlist the whole tour? If so it seems odd to go see them so many times...
WF Center 4/28/16; WF Center 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22;
Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; WF Center 9/7/24; WF Center 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24

Would you see Pearl Jam twice if you knew you'd get two setlists that are largely similar?
I'll be going to the New Jersey and Moncton shows, BTW.
I think you will enjoy it. Do you have seats or will you be on the field?
I think Pearl Jam is an exception with set list variety - and I like that they do it, you know each show will be unique. U2 is one of many bands that have somewhat static setlists, its just a different approach. I believe that U2 builds their sets into 2-3 acts with songs that go together to evoke a certain mood or flow. I have seen too many bands just rip through their set, appearing to get it done as fast as they can and move on to the next town. But U2 and Pearl Jam are two of the bands that really care about their shows and their fans.
The tour is like a really good movie - you know the story and what will happen next, but you really enjoy it so you go and see it a few more times before its out of theaters. Actually this tour has been goin on so long it will be almost 2 years since I saw them last in NJ, and I am looking forward to see it again.

so stoked...haven't seen them since the Elevation tour..and that was my first.
surprised all the U2 haters haven't invaded and derailed this thread yet :?
-my dad after hearing Not for You for the first time on SNL .
I was thinking the same thing. Me and Chris was just talking the other day about how everyone on here seems to hate them, I really don't understand why though, they are great!

We're on the field. Bought these tixx about 5 years ago I think.
Sounds like a lot of fun.
Yeah, I was waiting for all the U2 haters too. Funny there are those who just hate them in general, and those who just think everything since Sunday Bloody Sunday sucks or something like that. Whatever.
Of course, I have ignored No Line on the Horizon since about a week after it came out.

Springsteen is also great with setlist variety.
I'm not a big U2 fan, but I'd like to see them live. I don't mind paying money for good seats at shows (I'm kind of a ticket snob with sports and concerts). I looked at tix to the philly show, but I thought the prices were outrageous. I got tickets for all four PJ spectrum shows for less than it would have cost me for a pair of U2 tickets.
what is the face for the U2 shows? wasn't it something like $200 per ticket?
yep. it was a pretty good show.

Yeah, that's why GA is the best way to go. Or if you want an outstanding view of the show, you can sit behind the stage. If i'm not wrong, those are the cheapest.
Don't think we paid nearly that much. Had those tickets since the Bronze Age.

U2360° took off again in Mexico City tonight and that wasn't the only reason to celebrate.
Ok, so it was actually a day after Bono's birthday but that's a minor detail when you have a stadium full of fans who want to serenade you. Edge led the massed chorus of 'Happy Birthday' and Bono explained that he thinks of his own mother on his birthday, particularly so here as it coincided with Mothers Day. Special mention to Ali, the mother of his own children, who has flown in for the show.
'Mexico, Mexico...'
More signs tonight that this tour is continually reinventing itself, not just with 'Real Thing' now established at the top of the show but with Magnificent getting a new vibe thanks to some cool animation with Archbishop Tutu - the production team have clearly not been taking much time off since the South American dates.
Another surprise came in the middle of 'Crazy' which suddenly metamorphosed into 'Discotheque' (this track knows no limits) while there was a wonderful response for Zooropa, quietly establishing itself in the mix.
The first of three shows in five nights in Mexico City, this was not just one of the loudest audiences we've had to date but one of the highest stadiums we've played in - even edging the mighty 360 stage. Adam sporting a new bass guitar with vibrant red stripes, was on top form - at one point taking hold of a huge flag that had made its way onto the stage and wrapping it around the rest of the band.
Even if you weren't lucky enough to be at the show, there was plenty of debate about the tracklisting on our live feed, none more so than about the rival merits of Ultraviolet or Hold Me Thrill Me - which vie for their place in the set list each night.
'I've always loved UV and wanted to listen to it so bad live,' posted Isamoras. 'But after listening to HMTMKMKM as well, I have to say that it's perfect (for) the show and they should keep it!'
Tonight it was 'Hold Me', followed by (what else?) With Or Without You' which led into a special dedication from Bono before the beautiful closer 'Moment of Surrender'.
'We would like to dedicate this to all those who have lost their loved ones in the violence that is happening in this country. It's happening here and it's happening all over the world. 'Mexico needs to know you are not alone and we are with you.. you are not alone in the darkness. Let's make each light brighter...'
At which point the Azteca Stadium was illuminated with 100,000 cellphones and you couldn't have had a more powerful way to close the night.
So that was the opening night in Mexico, the tenth show of 2011 and the first of the final lap of the tour which will take us through North America until the end of July. Were you at the show tonight? What was the moment you'll never surrender? Add your own review and upload your photos below.

Cheapest tickets were in the $30 range for nosebleeds at top of stadium. Best value were the GA field for around $55, which I like. They also have reserved for $95 and $275. Their philosophy is that the high priced reserved tickets subsidize the cheaper tickets. One reason I am not doing Metallica at Yankee Stadium is the high ticket price - $250 for front GA, $90 was cheapest.
For this tour, anywhere in the stadium is a great view.
it is probably just you. i'll go crazy is a total mind fuck. one of the best parts of the live show...with the lights/stage...crazy good...imo
popmart was a cool tour but i thought the giant lemon was a tad much...that screen that they had on the popmart tour was incredible technology for early 1990's. it made that tour
That lemon. PopMart was later 90s.

ya i got all stoopid re the years popmart was happening...late 1997 was when i saw that tour...welcome to old age i say...there’s less days in the front of the horse, than riding in the back of this cart!
and um YES when u see lets go crazy it WILL click for you. i won't spoil the moment but be prepared to be absolutely blown away at the spectacle of it all
Yeah, that was a great tour. Even better than Zooropa, IMO. The opening night of Zooropa '93 (i.e. the European stadium leg of the Zoo TV tour) was my first U2 concert.
And yes, GA in the USA is about $55 for U2. OK, they also have $250 seats, but I do think that those saying that U2 are charging an outrageous fortune for seats are at best ill-informed. Each concert also has $30 and $55 tickets (and even $95 is more or less 'cheap' nowadays for established artists, with lots of times tickets prices starting at $100 and above).
