    The official story right now is that no civilians or women and children in the compound were killed, but I don't know if that's true. It's just what they've been saying.

    correct me if i'm wrong, but i think bin laden stepped down from leading the taliban a while ago. either way, you're right. you can't kill a mentality.

    I think everybody is aware that this wasn't a death blow and there would forever be peace on Earth, but that doesn't mean that they were going to not bother going after him. He had to be brought to justice, either through capture or death. All of the things this guy has done (the most notable being 9/11 of course) has earned him a much deserved hatred in the U.S. And while there will probably be payback and the BS will continue, it is still a great thing, and I don't think you're going to be able to take the piss out of us tonight.

    Bin laden was not Taliban - he was Al Qaida - 2 totally different gangs.

    40 minute operation by the US Navy Seals took out a large part of the heirarchy, including one of his sons and a woman that was used as a human shield - no statement whether she was civilian or insurgent.

    How about this pal? No one here is saying the troops should be home by morning. The man who was behind the MURDERS of over 3,000 innocent mother,fathers,sons and daughters on 9/11 is NOW DEAD. The child who was born in Early 2001 who never met their dad formally can now be assured, that the man who took that right away from him CAN NEVER HURT ANYONE EVER AGAIN.That single mother of 4 who expected her husband home for dinner and instead planned his funeral SHE IS HAPPY TONIGHT IM SURE. The daughter who was 15 in 2001 who is getting married this year, and doesn't have her father to walk her down the aisle.. she has some closure.

    Nobody is saying that killing bin Laden will put an end to terrorism, it existed before him and will exist after him. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be happy about capturing or killing a terrorist. Should nobody celebrate after capturing a serial killer or child molester, simply because it doesn't put an end to murder and sexual assault?
