I by no means fell safer in a world without Osama at the moment. If anything this is kinda scary.

It would be funny if Obama came to the podium wearing a bloody shirt with a severed ashy foot in his hand and said " yea I got that motherf**ker" -- chris rock

However, Bin Laden died in a fire fight. I have no issue with this.

These idiots in the streets make us look no better than Middle Eastern countries post-9/11.

Can you be happy this dick is dead? Yes. Do you need to dance about it on camera? No.

i never thought that we would get him. i would have liked to have seen him taken alive so that he could face justice in an american courtroom where he would have to face the relatives of the people he killed.

obama ordered this mission, so i am wondering if he will get the credit for this, and how long will it be before fox news downplays this accomplishment and talks about his birth certificate again...

and i also agree with the posters who said this does not change anything and the war on terror is not over. i was not scared of bin laden because we knew about him. it is his successor that i am worried about.

You are wrong. They celebrated the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians. We are celebrating the death of an evil man who killed out of pleasure, not necessity.

As a Canadian to a predominantly USA forum...

I want to share in yours and our victory here.

These events are all born of bad and evil. For ten years lines have been drawn, thoughts and opinions scattered with doubt.

This day is and should be an important moment to rejoice and celebrate even through what has happened.

There is a lot of horseshit in the world, and this stops absolutely nothing... but to hear the words "Osama Bin Laden is dead" does make me happy.

I hope that any persons directly affected by that evil cocksucker can have some form of relief knowing he is no longer breathing, smiling, living.

I can't imagine what it would have felt like to have known or loved anyone who was killed on 9/11 or during any of Bin Laden's orchestrated attacks.

All I know is that if I was one of those... this day would be a small light in what has been a very dark time.

interesting....democratic and republican members or congress and the senate, and even gwb are giving obama credit and praise for this, yet no word from donald trump, or palin, or bachmann, nobody prominent from the tea party... :?

Yeah I do agree with that, however we are all smart enough to not quickly take what the US says at face value, rather wait until more information comes out.

I'm looking forward to details regarding the fire fight. Also location of wounds, as the US has a history of executions. Would it be shocking to find out that they had him alive for a bit? Tortured him? then shot him dead? But what would that matter anyway, Bin Laden was a terrorist. Who cares about the details, we killed Bin Laden, thats what matters. So let's break out the drinks, the flags, the cheerleaders and celebrate, sure we killed many millions of innocents trying to catch him. Sure we slaughtered children in Afghanistan, dropped countless amounts of chemicals over Iraq, bombs from way up high.

The people on the streets cheering right now, should cheer and stay at the white house until the US ends it's bloody occupations.

That's justice, that's time to be happy.

Can someone articulate how and when America killed 'millions of innocents' trying to get to Osama?

I don't mean to sound snobby here... I just want to know where that came from.

Well if you believe the figures of deaths during the war on terror, from both side, Iraqis, afganies, soldiers and civilians, coalition soldiers and so on then yes, there has been a great number killed in the pursuit of bin laden.

    First, this is great news.

Second, what you said is ridiculous. He didn't kill him. We are entering a episode of stagflation not witnessed since the 70s. This certainly helps Obama, but the economy will kill him in the end. And it doesn't matter who he runs against.

What's great news? Killing people without a trial? What is the whole point of laws when they are not followed? Even in the most sensitive of situations, law should not be thrown out for revenge.

No matter how difficult the situation or time.

Do you think that his body guards put down their weapons when we arrived? There was a firefight, so of course him getting shot was a very feasible result. We'd have loved to have gotten him alive.

the christian science monitor released figures that are widely believed to be accurate, and that article put the death toll for the war in iraq alone at about a million iraqis. this includes those killed by our military offensive and those that have died as a direct result of the invasion from things like starvation, disease, lack of shelter/exposure, and exposure to radiation from depleted uranium, and other reasons. i had that article bookmarked but lost it when my computer crashed. those figures are disputed here in the states, but they are widely accepted to be true among the rest of the world.
