hmmm where do I begin.
Ok well I basically eat, sleep, breathe pearl jam. I think about them all day. Listen to their music all day at work and in the car. I have gone up and down the east coast to see their shows and Ed solo shows. Own a lot of their merchandise including about 30 t-shirts among other things. I have ed's initials tattoeed on me. I have stickers on my car. My home is decorated w/ numerous pj/ed posters. Basically I am known to most as the pearl Jam girl and am considered nuts by many.

1. Got Ten the day it hit the streets. Was working at a record store and we had promo copies. Grabbed 3 and shared with friends. The madness started that day.
2. Saw them live for the first time opening for Soundgarden in April 1992 at the Unicorn in Houston. Got there ridiculously early. Missed their sound check, but got in the venue early enough to see Soundgarden's sound check by walking in with the "security" team. Guess they thought I was one of them. Grabbed some staff food with Kim Thayil. During the show, we were front row crushed up against the stage. My buddy got hurt and went to the back. I stayed up front.
3. Bought every album since at the midnight sale. Vitalogy midnight sale had give-aways which I still have. I was at Disney for the Backspacer release, but bought it on iTunes at midnight and got home and bought the CD.
4. Got a bunch of Release fanzines.
5. My brother caught a tambourine at a show. I have it.
6. I have a lot of memorabilia. I'm teaching my 6 year old to appreciate PJ so she can have the stuff when I kick the bucket.
7. My Ten Club member number is really, really low.
8. I went to Little Rock for the WM3 fest to support the WM3....and Ed was there. Got a chance to meet him after the show....way after the show.
9. I've been to a few non-local shows, but many on this forum have got me beat in distance traveled to see them.
10. I'm sure there's more that I don't remember right now.
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.
I made mixed CDs for my wife of 12 years in order to get her into the band, and printed out the lyrics to each song on each disc... I made her study to earn her ticket to MSG in 2010, which normally went to my "go-to-PJ-concert-going-friend"... she did well enough that I am now working on the "Eddie Vedder Solo" phase of her education.
What a great thread...
super cool stories here...
Pretty big fan here myself...
Our dog is named PJ, licence plate frame is PJFAN13, I check ticketmaster everyday for Beacon 2 tickets (been out for over a week), Wifey & I haven't missed a tour since 93, I am such a fan of Jeff, that I subscribe to Bass Player magazine, yet have no idea how to even play it...I have a 20 G "iPJod" filled (ipod PJ only), my 3 kids were all in the womb at PJ concerts, I check this board daily, have traveled far to see them play (MSG 2 last year from San Diego), been to over 15 shows, have the boot and poster to each I've attended, own a ton of boots, posters, DVD's, etc...yeah, most of my friends not only think of me as their nutty PJ fanatic friend, they all beg me to take them to shows

Vs is my fave album
So a pretty big fan I guess
Let's see...8 PJ shows, 2 EV solo shows (soon to be 4) and a ton of bootlegs later, I think you could say that I'm obsessed. My husband rolls his eyes every time I announce a new tour.
The craziest thing I ever did was back in 09, I got a seat for a show that was pretty far back...later on I went to TM and saw an opportunity for a much better seat...bought that one and sold the worse one, that was scary because I didn't have much in my bank account at the time. But seeing them up close was worth it!

I think there are certain things I do as a fan that are really strange...I mean, I've seen them 19 times, used to collect the posters until such a practice became a dog fight in about 2003, so I stopped.
But the interesting thing is that I absolutely hate ordering new albums/reissues/side band projects off the Ten Club. One of the most important and thrilling experiences for me as a fan was to go into the record store, grab that new album off the shelf, walking around a little to sort of get comfortable with the idea of a new Pearl Jam album in my hands, check out, and then proceed to go home, where I take my first uninterrupted listen to the album. I have basically done this for every single album from Vitalogy on (except for the Avocado album, which I ordered off the pearl jam site because of the bonus live disc). The silly thing is what connects me from being 15 years old to today (32) is that I get the same nervous feeling every time I approach either the pearl jam section or the large display in the store...which reminds me, whenever I am in a record store of any kind, I go to see the extent of their pearl jam stock. I judge record stores in many ways based on what I see there (some pearl jam = not a cool enough record store; all pearl jam plus illegal bootlegs = great record store; no pearl jam = too snooty/hipster of a record store).
I have enjoyed reading these stories so I thought I'd share...
I have lots of Pearl Jam goodies. I love collecting Pearl Jam stuff and I have for years.
I have 30+ unofficial bootlegs, a few unofficial bootleg vhs, some official bootlegs mostly just the shows I have been to with a few extras, I have stickers, buttons, lighters, books, pictures, magnets, etc. I have lots of posters, my basement is decorated with most of them, my old room before i moved was covered in Eddie posters from all kinds of magazines you couldnt see any part of my wall lol. I used to kick people out of my room if they touched them. I always have PJ in my cd player, my kids love them, my dogs name is PJ, I have nothing but PJ shirts and sweatshirts, my favorite is my "I love Eddie Vedder" shirt I have seen them 20 times mostly in the Philly area, I've been to Chicago for Lollapalooza to see them, saw them open for the Rolling Stones, I waited ouside the Letterman show back in 2002 I think it was to try and meet them, I have a picture of the back of Eddie's security guard's head and one of Eddie's eyes as he is tipping his hat lol. I cried on the corner of NY cuz they just left. LOL When people ask me what I want my answer is always 'Eddie Vedder' lol if someone asks me where I want to go my answer is always 'Seattle' if I am asked where I want pizza from my answer is always 'that little pizza shop in Seattle' lol for my bday or xmas when I am asked what I want I say 'Eddie" and usually someone gives me a cool little PJ present. Ive been trying to meet them but still haven't, but I haven't given up and i never will I've been in the tenclub for 15 years. I've been pretty obsessed for along time and have always enjoyed everything about Pearl Jam. I like reading some stories on here and see that I am not alone LOL Im sure I could keep going but you get the point
So what kinds of things have you all done to prove your loyalty to Pearl Jam????
Prove my loyalty?
No need to have gone to 100 shows, have every single bootleg, or have met Boom 12 times. Just loving PJ in your own way and having them be such a positive part of your life goes miles in my book!

I will buy the Tenclub version, Super Deluxe version, or Special Edition of every Pearl jam album, plus the vinyl and still buy the standard CD because I don't want to play the special one too much.
I now officailly own 10 copies of Ten. Too many boots to count.
Enough shirts to wear a different one every day for 2 months (in the correct order I received them).
Lost the war to name my son after one of the band members...I'm ok with that one though
Everybody I ever worked with knows me as the Pearl Jam guy and those that don't find out in due time. (It helps having a stickman decal on you car too)!!!

BTW, craziest Pearl Jam related thing I've done, since we're on the topic.
I was quite disturbed back in 2003 when the stories came out about Pearl Jam being booed and people walking out during the Denver show early in the tour because of the whole Iraq/Bushleaguer fiasco.
My first show of that tour was Albany, where a ton of my friends lived. So I gathered them up and arranged for us to do a peace rally in the middle of the show (when they came out before the first encore naturally). We printed hundreds of 8 1/2 x 11 peace signs and walked around the arena for 2 hours before the show handing out the signs to anyone that would take them. We also posted copies of the signs on the Red Mosquito and Given to Wail message boards to get signs out to people we didn't know. We hid them in bathrooms in the arena so security would not take them away.
The rally went off famously, as hundreds of peace signs swarmed the floor before the first encore. The rest of the night took on a great festive atmosphere (a girl I did not know got pulled on stage to hold the lyric sheet to People Have the Power [first ever full band performance]). We did it as much because we disagreed with the war as because we felt the need to support the band for taking such a tough public stance on an issue that really mattered to them (at the time, it was a tough stance that would later become the mainstream feeling on that war).
That wasn't one of the best shows I have seen (Albany 4/29/03), but it was certainly among the most memorable nights.

My co-workers begged me to give up Pearl Jam for Lent! Not happening... They apparently think I listen to PJ too much at work (I own the shop) in the kitchen. I tell them to stay out of the kitchen, but they complain because I have at least 50% PJ on the ipod out front.
Friday's are especially good....all Pearl Jam Friday! They love that! lol
Little do they know, I am getting Sirius this weekend...joke's on them. All PJ AAAAALLLLL the time!

I'm sure everyone here owns at least a few bootlegs, has seen them several times and owns a piece or two of memorabilia. But how extensive has your fanaticism reached? I find myself on this board constantly to hear the latest rumor, news etc. My car is constantly tuned into Pearl Jam Radio. When I get sick of that, I put the Pearl Jam section of my iPod on shuffle and create my own "Pearl Jam Radio". I'd say the nerdiest and most fanatic thing I've done is create a spreadsheet with every show I've been to and listed every song that I've seen so I have a reference of what I have seen and what I would like to see. (I was super bored and have an ex that still won't stop making fun of me...) So what kinds of things have you all done to prove your loyalty to Pearl Jam????
When I noticed this fan site had all the setlists back to 94 - I did the same thing.
can I also throw in that I bought a brick from the Spectrum because I was at all 4 shows and the first night I was wearing my 'I love Eddie Vedder' tshirt and during black while the music was playing, Eddie was going across the stage checking out the fans. I was in the 12th row and had an end seat ,so I jumped out in the aisle and he noticed my shirt, pointed me out and let me know he loves me too lol it was one of the greatest moments of my life hahaha then he went back to the microphone and starting singing 'we belong together' lmao i was in heaven that night lol
