  • In 98 i was suppose to meet what is now my beautiful wife instead I had to cancel because i was going to the cleveland (blossom) show in which i couldnt take her because i already promised the ticket to a friend. That night as we were parting in the car I seen someone skateboarding. Once the smoke cleared :o the man skateboarding stopped and hand planted my brand new car and i about shit my self it was Eddie. Now just so you are aware my reaction time was rather slow at the moment if you know what i mean ;) Eddie said "i know where the party is at" with a shit eating grin on his face. At this time I fumbled to get out of the car and by the time i did there was at least 50-75 people surronding him. the cops came and escorted him back inside. Freaking awesome i swear i didnt wash that car all summer. Any way i warned her before we got serious that Eddie was the best thing next to god himself. She of course looked at me like i was freaking crazy. in 2000 we changed our wedding date because it interfered with the columbus show. We have fought about all 30 plus shows i have been to since except the three she went with me. the craziest thing ive done was for the ev solo tour i drove to milwaukee and back to cleveland in the same night and then drove from cleveland to chicago and then back home with a day of rest in between. it was one of those times where money was tight so i had to go and couldnt stay the night. this year i will be going to detroit and coming back home picking my wife up and heading to chicago. we scored fifteenth row floor which will be the closest she has ever been partying at the hardrock and making a well deserved vacation out of it. Now if i can only talk her in to night 2 ill be set ;)

HOLY SHITTTT!! I WAS THERE AND I TELL EVERYONE THIS STORY!!!!!!!!!!!

As my SIL and I pulled in the parking lot we had seen someone boarding, thought nothing of it. We parked and got out we then saw a mob of people. I told her I wanted to check it out. She was in a hurry to get in. Just as I went to leave, it seamed as thought the sea split and a heavenly figure started skating right toward me. HOLY SHIT!! All I thought was NO EFFIN WAY! It was "HIM"!! I about pissed my pants as he came and skated right around me and I reached out to touch his shoulder. I don't recall the police escorting him back, cuz I ran after him as he skated toward the adjoining empty lot possibly back to the stage area.

Thank you so much for sharing that story!! :)
  • Just to add to my story, at that same show Blossom '98 I to had bought PJ socks due to my feet hurting from the shoes I was wearing. They fell apart quicky from how often I wore them. :/

    PJ SOCKS ROCK!!!

no socks. but since i am working, my holidays are pearl jam holidays. 2008 east coast tour, 2009 euro tour, 2010 new york and euro tour, this year eddie in new york. my friends tell me, that i am crazy- but so what.
  • I have the Stick Figure Tattoo on my left calf(the only tattoo i have). I named my son Eddie, I've collected as much Pearl Jam stuff as I can over the 20 years I have been a fan. My wife and I flew to the other side of Australia to see them play because I had to work for the last Perth concert. The number plates on our WRX are 'Given2Fly'. Yeah I'm a big fan. :)

I'm sure everyone here owns at least a few bootlegs, has seen them several times and owns a piece or two of memorabilia. But how extensive has your fanaticism reached? I find myself on this board constantly to hear the latest rumor, news etc. My car is constantly tuned into Pearl Jam Radio. When I get sick of that, I put the Pearl Jam section of my iPod on shuffle and create my own "Pearl Jam Radio". I'd say the nerdiest and most fanatic thing I've done is create a spreadsheet with every show I've been to and listed every song that I've seen so I have a reference of what I have seen and what I would like to see. (I was super bored and have an ex that still won't stop making fun of me...) So what kinds of things have you all done to prove your loyalty to Pearl Jam????

    Ahhh the spreadsheet :)

I've done the same thing... every show, every venue, every song... how many times I've seen which song.. I also include footnotes in case something special happened and what not.. (Example: Over The Hills and Far Away tag for Yellow Ledbetter in Ottawa...)

In social circles I'm known as a the "Pearl Jam guy."

People are afraid to speak ill of Pearl Jam in my presence.

    Pearl Jam license plate.

    30 + posters

    30 + bootlegs

    26 shows in 2 countries, 3 provinces, 8 states.

My clothing is dominantly Pearl Jam. T-shirts, hoodies, touque. (I did stop at the socks though)

Pearl Jam constantly in my car, at home, everywhere.

    2 PJ tattoos

    20 - 30 PJ vinyl

all cd albums (mostly doubled) (most* cd singles)

    all dvds

handful of unofficial bootleg vhs, dvd, cassette, cd.

PJ stickers on most things (record player, media storage units, work locker)

i can play most pearl jam songs perfectly on 'hard' on Rock Band... but not many other songs

i named my pets after band members :D

    this

On the old board I used to average 37 posts a day. I got to faithful status in 2 months or so . I'd spend hours upon hours on hours posting with the different crews and chatting with a few aussies . Overnights/mornings were aussies and euros and days were americans. I literally became this pathetic. Thank god for college then a few jobs or else I'd have a 100,000+ posts by now. The gabbly chat was the best thing for me cause hippiemom would be up latenight too and we'd chat for hours on end.

    And

I once flew 3,000 miles just to see pj do 2 covers of the who and the who themselves play 11-13 songs. Had an amazing time at the who rock honors concert with a cool girl. The trip made my account a -$40 but it was totally worth it and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

To be honest, my first reaction to this was slight annoyment. Having worked at a DVD rental shop, I hate it when people pick things up and don't put them back to their proper places, making the shelves messy, cause someone's gotta organise them again. :P

I let me girlfriend at the time (and first true love) wear my Stick Man T-shirt I bought in Spain way back in the day from some market place (not official like), we broke up years later and years after that I stumbled upon a photo of us together at Reading festival. She was wearing the T-shirt and all I could think was "DAMN I MISS THAT T-SHIRT" - I guess PJ was my real true love after all.

 Most of what I have are shirts with PJ on them so I can represent! :D (of course, cd's and some posters I got at concerts--one lifesize one that a friend got for me on a college campus--it's great). But anyway, I wear my shirts to work alot, and I work with a 17 year old. One day when he first saw me wearing one he said 'what's a pearl jam?'. This boy needed educated.

I probably not as obsessed as I was years ago. I did buy all the 2000 bootlegs then when they went and did the same thing in 2003 I just couldn't justify spending the money and resigned myself to the fact I wouldn't own EVERYTHING. Right now I'm concentrating on getting vinyl and pretty much leaving it at that. And hoping someday for a Texas show.

I made mixed CDs for my wife of 12 years in order to get her into the band, and printed out the lyrics to each song on each disc... I made her study to earn her ticket to MSG in 2010, which normally went to my "go-to-PJ-concert-going-friend"... she did well enough that I am now working on the "Eddie Vedder Solo" phase of her education.

:lol: They are some socks!!!! The ones I have (don't know if the others are talking about the same ones), are thick and black and long and have a little red emblem on the side of them. When I saw them, I thought...socks, how weird. Gotta have em. Still have them. I can't wear them much because they're so thick, but they're awesome. I got them a long time ago (I wanna say a '98 show, but one of the emblems reminds me of binaural so I don't know).
