Ace of Bass- Ok, so I know nobody has even thought of this band in years... but, I used to have a visceral reaction to that Sign song... Like I wanted to break her face.

I agree....years of therapy to suppress my memories of Ace of Base have just been flushed down the drain.

I'm actually sad to say that I don't care for the Beatles. This is a band that I WANT to like. I understand the historical significance and the influence that they had on music. I enjoy John Lennon's music, as well as his message, but when I listen to the Beatles, it does nothing for me. I was told that I might like some of the more trippy stuff, maybe I haven't heard it, but nothing has moved me. I don't hate them, I'm just not turned on by their music. :?
Okay, I gave them another shot and went in with an open mind, not taking into consideration my earlier opinion of them.
And I stil don't like them. This is not deliberate controversy - as I said I have, and had in the past, given them a good listen before forming an opinion.
I'd go so far as to say some of the tracks above are bloody awful actually. Droning, whining, doesn't go anywhere or move me emotionally in any way apart from annoyance.
For me it's probably easier to just list the bands I do like then go through the list of those I don't. There are so many. There are also some bands who I don't really like listening to, but I like them in theory. Just because their music isn't up my alley, I think they bring something to the table Like Stevie Ray Vaughn for example, I appreciate his skill, and his influence, but I really hate the music. But as for bands I can't stand and don't get the hype over, (I'm just going to list rock bands, the Bieber's, Katy Perry's and Lady GaGa's are too many to name) here are a couple.
My Chemical Romance
Blink 182
Everclear
Matchbox Twenty
There are probably many more, but those are the first that popped into my head. And there is one I hate to say, but Foo Fighters. I loved the first two albums, but ever since then it has all sounded the same to me. I do like them in theory though, because I like Dave Grohl, but I can't stand to listen to anything they put out after the 90's. It all sounds generic to me, and the same song. At least the stuff that gets played on the radio.

Judging Foo Fighters on what's played on the radio, compared to the first two albums? That's an unbalanced comparison. Although I think Times Like These and Best of You are great songs. But a lot of the "formula" songs (DOA, Pretender) get played on the radio, while the interesting stuff (Aurora, Low, Stranger Things Have Happened, the accoustic part of In Your Honor) just sits on the record waiting to be discovered.

Well I have heard other songs besides what is being played on the radio, I was just trying to convey that I haven't delved too deeply into their latest albums like I did the first, I haven't JUST heard them on the radio, but those are the songs I've heard the most. And I do hate to be that guy that passes judgement without a truly informed opinion (I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say that Pearl Jam only had one good album in Ten, without listening to any others), I just can't get myself to buy one of their albums when the stuff I hear on the radio, or maybe through friends doesn't do anything for me. Who knows, maybe I would like some of their more recent stuff, but maybe I wouldn't. Their early stuff that got played on the radio was good, although I liked other songs on the albums as well, I don't understand why they would choose to play "bad" or "formula" songs on the radio now if the rest of the album was better. Foo Fighters aren't one of those bands that tries to shun fame.
I just saw them on SNL the other night, and whatever song they played didn't do anything for me either, but Dave's cameo as the strip club DJ cracked me up. But like I said, I like them in theory, I just can't bring myself to be a fan. I certainly have nothing against people listening to them or anything.

Oakie-doakie. Did you try the songs I mentioned? You can just youtube them. Whatever floats your boat. I just feel like you're missing out is all.
At least your not like my sister-in-law who irrationally hates them for some reason - something about Dave Grohl capitalizing on Nirvana. I don't understand. :?

ABBA (fianceé's favourite band) and Oasis. I dragged her to Fenway 2 last year as I couldn't shift the ticket so I'm sure that payback will happen someday. Though it's more likely to be with Taylor Swift than ABBA.
Also don't like Radiohead. I love Let Down but cannot see the light every time I try to check their stuff out. I remember spinning Kid A and going "WTF is this shite".

Beastie Boys are terrible. Like, absolutely painful to the ears.
That whole thing where every few syllables they all emphasize whatever word together is the lamest fucking thing ever to happen in music and they do it in almost every song. Absolute shit music with no appeal outside makes who were adolescents at the time of their fame.
^ Every time I hear the Beastie Boys I think of Who's Line is it Anyway when the white fuddy-duddy comedians try to rap. Sometimes they are no worse than the Beastie Boys.
Hate is a strong term... so the only band I truly hate is Weezer.
Seemingly popular bands which will cause a quick skip/channel change include: Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, Arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard, Deftones, Limp Biscuit, Lenny Kravitz, Supertramp, The Used, A Day to Remember, Good Charlotte, Hole, Jesus Lizard
I always found skater punk rock like Green Day and Blink 182 annoying ... which is really hard to pull off considering you are technically a rock band. There is something about that style of music that attracts musicians with very punchable faces. If my doorbell rang and I answered the door and Billie Joe Armstrong was standing before me I would punch him square in the nose. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

Might I suggest The In Sound from Way Out compilation and The Mix-Up. You’ll barely hear any vocals, and you’ll get to experience one of our generation’s most underappreciated bass players driving some killer grooves.
Your two posts basically make it sound like the only Beastie Boys music you’ve ever heard is Licensed to Ill and whatever got played on MTV/FM radio.
They were all over the place musically—hell, they even made an unreleased country album as a joke/gift that musically sounds like an actual country album (lyrics are still pretty silly)—but what got airplay and sold records, of course, was the formula established early on with “Fight for Your Right to Party,” “Brass Monkey,” etc.
If you can stomach some (nonrap) vocals after the instrumental stuff, this one is a goddamn masterpiece.

Take no notice of me I once said I couldn't see the fuss about The White Stripes and now have every CD.
