got my package from Wilds yesterday, thanks a ton. he sent
david bowie - david live
van morrison - moondance
mike oldfield - tubular bells
i'm definitely a fan of bowie and van morrison, and dig both of these albums. one was new to me and one i already had, so it may get shared with someone else later...
as for mike oldfield - woah. i can only assume this is what you were talking about when you said you included a weird one from your childhood. i can't really describe this record, except to say oldfield plays almost every kind of instrument imaginable and overdubs them all over each other. evidently he was one of the first people to do this kind of thing.
i played it late at night when i was home alone, and, frankly, it kind of scared the shit out of me. haha. especially when about 20 minutes into the first side when all the sudden some dude says GRAND PIANO out of nowhere. i almost had a heart attack. but actually it's a really fun record, really proggy and trippy. i think my year-and-a-half-old son is gonna like it too. (maybe that's what you were talking about.)
thanks Wilds, made my friday night home alone pretty fucking interesting...
run dmc...spun the first side as soon as i opened it today...then kids came home from cinema...so will do the other side tomorrow...loved what i heard...its really up my street..
thanks buddy for this and the 7"s will give them all a play tomorrow..

im shocked you have not joined in on this thread buddy
I'm so tempted - but I am [expletive] shit at getting my ass to the post office these days - I think I am just lazy, or pathetic or something. I have at least 5 packages due to be sent to Pearl Jam fans across the globe - things I have promised people (including one to you), and I keep cursing myself. So I think I'm too unreliable currently to join this thread. I have decided to set aside a day next week to go and deal with all my PJ packages - so maybe it won't be so bad, and I will then come and join this thread! :?

errrrrrrrrrrrr whats happeed to my lovely thread :?
.
I am sorry .
this is not for me.
I really like vinyl. I wasn't allowed to touch it as a child. I collected them as a grungy kid in the '90s . My spouse worked for a music instrument store. Electronic music boomed. they sold turntables again. So I bought 1 table. someone bought me a mixer so I could spin and d.j. ?????? In 2008, I found a SPEAKER for my turntable. I should have kept better track of my collection. Now that it all works. I don't have anything to play? My spouse bought Chinese Democracy on vinyl for me.. I don't like that. So I bought my own Jack Johnson. Barnes and noble emailed me to say it's on backorder. so it might be another 6 weeks. I'm sorry I messed your threads. I am moving on. and start my own thread, about fair trade vinyl theory .... or idk
anyway, this just came in the mail from the kindly dpmay
conveniently, while i have numerous beatles and s&g lps, i did not have these two! so good pickins', sir. I look forward to putting these on the old turntable this week.
the typewritten note (with lp tour map!) was a wonderful addition and i'll be sure to keep these with one of the records so as to remember where they came from many years on.
haha, that map was kind a last minute thing. my freehand drawings of oregon and minnesota are, er, not very good. we should live in wyoming and colorado.
So, I've sent out 4 packages now and none have arrived yet? The one I sent to vduboise was well over a month ago. I'm getting worried :?
No news from any of my 'potential' recipients?
Nothing here either....Do they have a record player at your post office?
No, I don't think so. And the Polish Postal Service just invested in a new fleet of donkeys for overland travel and a couple of feluccas, so I can't believe they haven't made it across the Altantic to you all yet!

Muppet Movie soundtrack was my first piece of vinyl at the age of 5.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
