Bettman has said himself the MTS Centre, which opened in 2004, is a perfect NHL arena. But no, we won't be getting a team any time soon. Not until Bettman gets his head out of his ass and realizes that Southern US is not a hockey viable place. The same as cricket not being viable up here.EquallyWorthless wrote:bronco_bruin wrote:we have an owner ready for a team who is worth 20 billion...Im pretty sure we can handle a team now...maybe you should do your homework before you start insulting someones city...
Show me where I insulted Winnipeg in my post? NOWHERE, that is where. I was simply saying Minnesota is a crazy hockey state. If anything you are the only one insulting peoples cities here. Also, I am pretty clear on the situation in Winnipeg. I would LOVE to see a team there. It's not about handling a team, it doesn't matter how much money you have, just ask Jim Balsielle. He has billions too, and he has no luck getting a team, he has been railroaded twice. You know why? The NHL is not interested in A) Expanding orMoving any of the teams they have now. Winnipeg wont get a team until they build an NHL ready arena. The same reason why they lost the Jets. I don't think an NHL arena can be built in 6 months.

yes, because one concert is the same as a full season of a ridiculously overpriced sport full of crybabies. :roll:LOV2ROCK wrote:Fuck it! If they are hitting Winnipeg, who can't even support a fucking hockey team, then they might as well hit Fort FrancesGimli 1993

Winnipeg is a hole. That isn't an insult, it's a fact. Plus, from what I understand, the thing that's keeping Winnipeg from getting a team is that there is not enough corporate money for season tickets & boxes. Another thing is that you would have to add seats to the MTN center. The existing seats make their financial market too small. Massey Hall.
Amen.
If Pearl Jam played @ Massey Hall the place will come crashing down right after the first drum beat by Matt. I mean literally the place will crumble. The whole upstairs balcony would come falling down & the roof blown off & flown away to the left & smashed right beside the Eaton Centre.
So yeah, please play Massey Hall. The 2 Ed show's I seen there back in '08 were amazing. PJ playing there would be mind blowing!
hahah bump massey would be awesome but we'd need 3 in a row:)96-11-Tor; 03-Mont; 05,13-London;05-Kitchnr, Hamltn; 06-Deroit;08-Mont(EV); 09-Albany(EV), Philly3&4; 10,13-Buff;10-NYC, Mt View; 11-(EV) Boston,Hart,Det,PJ20,Ott,Hamltn,Winnpg,Sask,Cal,Edmntn,Van; 12-Missoula; 13-Wrigley,Pitts,Port,Spok,Cal,Van,Sea.0 -
I remember the day I opened up pearljam.com back in 2005 and they were playing "Oh Canada!" and had a Canadian flag on the site...it sent chills down my spine...man that was awesome.....www.mikemccrory.ca0

If there is a Canadian tour i think I'll try to hit up a chunk of the tour. Never done it before. I did see 2 in a row in Toronto in 06.
It mostly depends on when the tour is and how many dates i can book off. Also when it's announced. I'll need as much time as possible to book off work.0 -

I remembered hearing the song the day before but didn't see the dates/10club tickets available for purchase till the next day at around 7am or so. The dates/10club tickets must of went up @ 12am Eastern Time? I remembered getting up with tons of emails on my MSN Messenger & freaking the fuck out that they were coming to Halifax! I logged onto the 10club and placed the order for Halifax tickets ASAP that morning. Had to wait a few minutes to order the Toronto tickets cause I had to talk to the family/work if I could take some time off those few day's so I could travel. To see Pearl Jam & check out Greek Town again!0 -

They went on sale just after 12am EST...I'll never forget reading down the list and being more and more surprised at each place, until I finally read St. John's at the end...Newfoundland?...I mean really...still has to be the most obscure place they've ever played...was cool to see them in the place I grew up
I also remember scrambling to buy tickets to all the Ontario shows before everyone found out the next morning, just in case!...haha0 -
