I downloaded a torrent of it and just started watching it now. The opening tag match was badass. Better than anything I've seen in WWE in years. JR and Matt Striker are on commentary.

Royal Rumble tonight in philly! (i'm not going though). Hearing the possibility that Wrestlemania 33 might come to philly which would be cool. Well here are my predictions for the PPV tonight:

Roman Reigns wins the Rumble (pretty predictable)
John Cena wins the triple threat match for the title but loses to Rollins when he cashes his MITB briefcase
The Uso's over Miz and Mizdow
Paige and Natalya over the Bella Twins
The New Day over Caesaro, Kidd and Adam Rose
The Ascension over the New Age Outlaws

I think Sheaumus, Bo Dallas, and Randy Orton make their return in the rumble. Hearing RVD will also be in the Rumble.

Not sure what The Rock is gonna be up to. Same with Sting.

yeah never thought i'd hear a We Want Rusev chant :))

Not a bad PPV. The triple threat match was good. Royal Rumble itself was decent (despite the predictable outcome). Some surprises like Bubba Ray Dudley and DDP.

This is what turned me off to the whole thing those. The worst thing they can be is predictable... and it is extremely predictable.

What an awful ending. Even The Rock couldn't help Reigns get over....not good. And how about they way they handled Bryan in the rumble match? Getting knocked out so easily and early like that. Awful.

2nd Rumble in a row where he fans didn't like the winner

It wasn't just about winner (though that's the major issue). But the entire match seemed like a "fuck you" to the fans. Why eliminate Bryan THAT early when people want to see him more than anyone? He only lasted a few minutes. Why not let him go a half-hour before getting eliminated? Let's say Ryback eliminates him. Well that gets Ryback legit heel heat. Not "we hate you cause you're not that good and they're shoving you down our throats" heat that Reigns got. Or what about Mizdow? The fans were shitting on the Rumble but woke right up for him. GONE immediately. Then Ziggler comes out at #30, gets dominated by the old fossils Big Show and Kane, and is dumped like a sack of rocks. Even if the end result is gonna be unpopular, you don't have to ruin the entire match.

And as for the ending. Oh my god. "Derrrrr.....Reigns against Show/Kane. CAN HE OVERCOME THE ODDS????" Um...yeah....I think he can. That was so contrived. Give us a real final four (say for example: Rusev, Ziggler, Reigns, and Ambrose). Let them fight it out, and the last guy in wins. We don't need our intelligence insulted. I'm surprised Reigns didn't give Show and Kane a noggin-knocker like Hulk would in 1988.

Brock vs. Reigns will be a trainwreck. Reigns has never had a real PPV main-event (other than tags with The Shield). And Brock's last two WM matches (against veterans Undertaker and HHH) were horrible. Reigns should really have a run with the IC Title (like Warrior did before WM6 with Hogan). He needs to learn how to be a wrestler. Right now, he's horrible on the mic and can't put on a twenty-minute one-on-one match. It's ironic actually. He's getting the Rocky Miavia treatment like his cousin did: YOU WILL LIKE THIS GUY BECAUSE WE TOLD YOU TO! Rock eventually overcame it. I don't think Roman will. Sad.

my wrestling fan buddy told me about this, and basically echoed every single thing said here. Reigns has about 4 moves and can't run a match; Bryan was eliminated without any fanfare, even the Rock couldn't put him over, etc etc. whoever said it, is right: the worst thing WWE can do is be predictable. If anything, they should have booked someone else to win it and then Reigns take it away at some juncture, or have him eliminated last, the winner gets injured before WM, so they rule that the last guy eliminated will get the WM spot. Anything but what they did. there's a reason I don't watch rasslin' anymore.

wouldnt it be smart to have him turn heel immediately then, and go from there? If people feel that passionate about hating him, they should capitalize. Get him out there tonight fumbling his words or whatever he does, have the Rock come out and try to push him some more... then have Reins jump The Rock unexpectedly and hospitalize him.

exactly what I was thinking. if a guy you are trying to push hard as a face is getting such a bad reaction from the crowd, you turn him.

If wwe had a clue what the fans wanted, that's exactly what they should do. But judging from what they did last night, they don't have a clue.

Also just saw on twitter that Raw is cancelled tonight due to the snowstorm in the NE. Same with tomorrow for smackdown.

I really think the dirt sheets, the twitterverse and the 24hour news cycle have ruined it. There's not much that can't be figured out pretty easily. Even when I was a kid I could figure stuff out. Nobody was shocked when HBK kicked Marty Janetty through the Barber Shop mirror., ya know.

I appreciate that Wwe stuck with the plan. I feel like the reactions the last few years have been a sign of spoiled fans. Just a month ago people were going nuts over Reigns. Once they found out their boy DBry was coming back, they turned. I will say the Rumble seemed odd, with some of the showings. S

Ive read a lot about paying dues, move set, and mic skills, but a lot of guys in the past have gotten by with less and some the other guys that get mentioned as deserving of a shot have their own deficiencies. Ambrose and Ziggler can put on great in ring work, but both feel like minor leaguers to me when you compare them to the likes of Rollins, Wyatt and Reigns. Bryan is good too, but his rise has been sorta flukey.

turning heel saves most careers. when you look at mid carders (especially tag teams) where one turned heel, but the other did not, you can see the difference:

    Shawn Michaels and Marty Janetty
    Billy and Bart Gunn
    Rick and Scott Steiner
    Edge and Christian
    British Bulldogs

of course, there are a few notable exceptions (Hart Foundation to name one), but turning heel is almost always the best thing for a wrestler.

It will prob never happen, but Cena should turn heel. If he didn't sell so many of those awful tshirts, I'm sure they would have done it years ago.

John Cena won't turn heel. Although he started as a heel. But he's been hated on for over a decade now and won't turn.
