10 reasons PJ is Better than Metallica
Comments

I love PJ - my favorite band... but I also like listening to other music as well.
I happen to enjoy Metallica - but I cannot compare the 2 bands - totally different to me.
Its like comparing apples to oranges...*********************************************************************************************0 -

At first I thought you meant you've owned every generation M3. then I realize you meant "beat". What vette? C5, C6? My uncles had a bunch and my cousins are all muscle car guys, so i've heard enough talk about 'merican muscle that I can take in my life.
I'd really like an E30 or E46 M3.
I meant it all in fun too. While I was in college I worked at Thunder Racing building some of the fastest GM powered cars in the world (literally, we held 6 world records while I was there) so a lot of my friends and associates are "car guys (and girls)", and these conversations are an everyday occurrence.
I've owned everything from Trans Am's to a C4, 2 C5's and now I'm on my 2nd C6. It's a 2010 with a stroked 427 and a Procharger supercharger with a modified pully and crank pushing around 7.5 psi. It dyno'ed an uncorrected 764 rwhp with 770 tq. I haven't had a chance to run it at the track since the Procharger was added, but I know it's pulled past my previous Vette which ran consistent 10.80's on drag radials.
It's very rare that I get to talk about my other passion on the PJ board, so I kinda try and find excuses sometimes. It's like when I'm over at LS2.com and get even the slightest opportunity to talk about PJ, you know I gotta go off. It's all about the music...

Wow, thats freakin insane. How can you even handle something like that? I dont even know if I can handle 400 hp! Is that supercharger a roots type or centrifugal? I have a roots supercharger in my MINI and I can never get enough of the sound. I installed an intake on it and all you hear when you floor it is the supercharger whine, god I love it.
I totally agree with you about the two passions here. Cars and music for me too. I was always surprised no one here ever talks about cars. Maybe I'll start a "car guy" thread.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10

I've got 10
1) Can you imagine Eddie Vedder shopping at Armani?
http://www.themetalinquisition.com/2008 ... ption.html
2) Pearl Jam stopped making videos when they got big (at least for a while) and their music matured--Metallica went the MTV route and their music has never been the same--all downhill after the Black Album.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHVv7Mz2_Bo
3) While Pearl Jam was trying to make affordable high quality full concert bootlegs available for fans, Metallica was suing Napster.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS6udST6lbE
4) Lars Ulrich is an Oasis groupie whereas Eddie Vedder is a Neil Young groupie. Sorry Gallagher brothers, Neil is way cooler than you blokes.
http://thequietus.com/articles/00357-me ... incident--
5) Oh the hypocrisy! Metallica fired a founding band member due to drug/alcohol problems (i.e., Dave Mustaine) while Pearl Jam saves their own http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Save_You, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_McCready
6) One word: Mullets. Maybe they were just victims of the 80s, but really is there an excuse for these hairdos?
http://www.fortunecity.co.uk/southbank/ ... ling1.html
7) Press shots--seriously do the gents in Metallica think they are scaring anyone: http://www.wired.com/listening_post/200 ... metallica/ -- versus Pearl Jam who have always found a way to not fall victim to cheesy rock star cliche: http://grungereport.net/?p=1530
8) Give me fuel, give me fire? Frankly--both are great live bands. Though only one of the lead singers from these bands was dumb enough to set himself on fire while performing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ_4-evwimk
9) Some kind of monster--airing dirty laundry is never cool, and most certainly not "rock and roll"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMP8FYr2YE0
10) 1991--The year that Pearl Jam released Ten and then followed it up with 8 more great to classic albums--it was also the last year that Metallica released an album worth listening to (i.e. the Black Album). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0mhrqfeFjQPost edited by Smarter_Than_U on"Goddamn Romans. Did you read any of the rest of this thread? Metallica had a free tapers section for as long as I can remember. They encouraged free trading of their shows. They currently have available a full download of every show they have played since 2004 as well as numerous vault shows for free. Last time I bought fan club tickets, I got a FREE download of the show I went to. They sued Napster because their music, and everyone else's music, was being stolen.

Really dude? Read some of biographies about early Metallica and then comment on why Mustaine was kicked out of the band. This is your weakest point yet. I guess it's ok to kick someone out of your band for actually enjoying being famous?0 -

1. Eddie's not exactly wearing ripped flannel shirts these days either.
2. Hey man, a lot people my age (27) got into Metallica BECAUSE of that "crappy" Load/ReLoad era. I literally knew every word to ReLoad before I ever heard of Ride The Lightning. You could imagine how mind-blowing it was getting into their back-catalog in my first year or so as a fan.
3. Oh the old napster argument. Let me rescue you from 1999 and say that there are presently over 20 live concerts available for FREE download on Metallca.com. For free, you can download some low-quality (but historic) shows with Cliff or you can get crystal-clear soundboards from the 90's. I've never gotten anything for free from Pearl Jam.
4. I'm not sure that Lars is an Oasis "groupie". I think he's just friends with the band. See some people in bands are friends with people in other bands. Weird right?
5. Oh fuck Mustaine. He was threatening to derail the band's potential success with his violent, drunken ways. PJ was the biggest band in the world when Mike had his troubles. Of course they're not going to just kick him out.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Me tooI got into them when Until it Sleeps came out. Worked my way backwards from Load and on the first few listens of Puppets and Justice, I couldn't stand faster, heavier stuff. I'd like to go back and slap the pathetic out of me. Still a big fan of Load though. Great rock album.

Well I actually prefer the fast stuff, the first two albums in particular. But either way, that's a point in Metallica's favor. The 90's Metallica is really a different band than the 80's Metallica. Where some would say "Yeah but they sucked in the 90's!", I would say, "Hey, at least they tried different things" and as is the case with you, some people prefer 90's Metallica.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
