I do not mind traveling a long distance for this event, but there are dozens of exciting cities in this country that have amphitheaters. Still don't understand this decision, if it is in fact correct.
The band has stated they like said venue. I'm not sure we need any more reason than that, especially when your preceding statement was that you don't mind traveling a long distance for this event, and that I would venture a guess that many others have the same mentality.

I am sure the band like plenty of venues in this country. Convenience of the crowd should be a major consideration for any festival organizer. Flying to an airport, then driving over an hour, and still being in an area that seems to not have much to offer does not sound like the best plan.

if you stay in the city,wi,how much time is to the venue?there are buses goes there?
If you get a hotel in Milwaukee, it's about 45 minutes to the venue, but I don't think buses would go there. You might have to cab it or rent a car (or just mooch off a fellow PJ fan who lives nearby).

I hope neilybabes is right... I live in Wisconsin and would die to have Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary show in my backyard! But i get the feeling that something is now holding this show up? after reading the guidelines for shows that scares me. how is it possible for the band to hold this at Alpine with all these crazy rules? I hope they signed a contract and it's writing in stone but this now wouldn't surprise me if the show is moved.
maybe the band is taking its time to get opening bands lined up? i hope.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

Am I the only one that hasn't booked hotel rooms yet cause I'm waiting for the official announcement from 10club & their 10club hotel package deals?
I don't see that happening here do to lack of capacity in the immediate area. I would assume that the limited parking lot camping may be somehow reserved or made available to the 10c but a nearby hotel is going to be hard to come by, let alone a block of rooms to do a package deal.

There is plenty of hotels within an hour of the venue.

With all due respect, I meant the band has stated this is one of their favourite venues to play. As for the convenience factor - you bring up the Gorge as one of two alternatives; a venue which (if Google Maps is to believed) is two and a half hours from Seattle. Speaking of convenience factors - two and a half hours' driving distance from a city situated right on the west coast hardly seems to be convenient, nor central, to me. It is fairly evident that there will be some logistics the band will need to work on, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.. the venue wouldn't exist if bands didn't want to play there

Well, that's an entirely different argument... one which I do happen to agree with you about! To me, having never been to Alpine or the Gorge, I can't say I'd be upset about either. In terms of shear practicality - the honest answer is that neither of them is a practical location! Yet they are both well-known, and with the Gorge I can see why... With Alpine Valley I hope to find out why

I guess my point was that Alpine Valley does not seem like a location worthy of a long trip. But PJ are, so I guess that's all that matters.
Side note- my first time seeing Pearl Jam was at the Gorge about 5 years ago. I missed several flights because of horrible weather and then me and my dad somehow managed to get the last 2 seats on the last possible flight that would make it in time to the show. Then we slept for about 3 hours in our hotel and drove to the Gorge in a rental car with busted AC and radio. Then we sat in 115 degree weather for several hours. I guess it does not get anymore inconvenient than that!
My username here is an ode to the first song played that night, Severed Hand. I really thought I would miss that show, and the intro to that song will always be my favorite PJ moment no matter what.
That's good. Just hope they have good bus & transportation services to & from.

I think Demetrios was suggesting that hopefully the band offer some bus or transportation services of their own, and to be honest, I would be more surprised if they did not offer something like that.

What the band will offer is a chance to rent a car to drive to the show to see them. The insurance alone for something like that would be ridiculous.
