Again I our thoughts are with the Aussies. These pics help us to appreciate what the Queenslanders are going through. Pic 9 shows that some still use humour to get there way through this.

I'm all good at my house, but it's only about 10k's away from some pretty major floods - a very surreal feeling indeed.
My work that I am very attached to is close to suncorp stadium - won't be going back there for a while. first floor gone -second floor pretty much ok.
Good luck to everyone doing the clean up! I'm planning on pitching in where possibleI have no signature0

Thoughts for the victims of these floods and also the floods in Brazil.

All safe my way too! I'm only 1/2 hr north of Brissie and we got the emergency evacuation sms as for Burpengary and Caboolture as we are in a neighbouring suburb. The creek at the bottom of our street (only wayin/out) flooded over, but that's nothing unusual. Although some friends have had some very close calls.
A friend of mine works for a hotel group and 3/5 hotels they have in Brisbane have been damaged. Another friend is doing hampers of food and toiletries. I have bundled up a heap of kids clothes and toys to donate, and have trailer ready for anyone who wants me.
It certainly has been a very interesting couple of weeks watching all of this evolve across the state.0

I cried when I watched the interview where the lady was crying and telling the interviewer about people running along train tracks to escape the water and seeing bodies lying in fields behind her house. Was somewhere in country QLD. Grantham, I think.
Now I've just found out that my hometown in country Victoria is flooding as well as other parts of Victoria. It's not looking good in parts of Tasmania either. :shock:Sydney, Australia - March 12, 1998; Sydney, Australia - February 14, 2003; Sydney, Australia - November 8, 2006; Sydney, Australia - November 25, 2006; Brisbane, Australia - November, 2009; Gold Coast, Australia - January, 2014, Gold Coast, Australia - November 20240

Hmmm....I think the TC my source was referring to was TC Vania which is about to hit New Caledonia (Fig 1). But that low I mentioned has turned into TC Zelia....which is intensifying but moving away from the coast as can be seen by my picture below (Fig 2). Let's hope it doesn't swing back.

so i spent today helping clean up at a brisbane suburb called Sumner Park. the height of the water level was unbelievable and it is just so hard to comprehend how much work is need to be done to clean this city, here are a few snaps:
 Water level above a truck:
you can see the height the water got on the wall behind the coke machine, they lifted it that high thinking it would be high enough to keep it out of the water. well the water still covered most of the coke machine.
all this shit washed up against this gate: condescending and sarcastic since 19800 condescending and sarcastic since 19800

            Wow.
Can't believe how crazy these floods have been....
There are a few positives. One of which are the hot newsreaders/reporters.

 You crazy lad!
Although one the negatives is all people panick buying food...seriously I do nightfill for a supermarket and it is freaking ridiculous, especially whre I work isn't affected at all. Ok sure trucks are delayed for like 3days with the loads etc, and work from the bread delivery guys is that a major bakery has enough flour etc to get thru this weekend, but will need replenishing after that...all because people are buying unnecessary copius quantities of bread. As for the milk delivery....it comes in daily....all this week gone within an hour of arriving. I'm in grocery, and our biggest sellers this week are pasta, rice, tinned veg/fish, noodles...and....BAKED BEANS!!!! Although I am concerned with the marked increase in baked beans sales, toilet paper sales have been stable. :?
 It crazy...like Armegeddon  0 0

The clean ups are going amazingly. Went in to help work get cleaned up - it was such a great turnout, on all the streets you go down here are just volunteers and strangers everywhere helping out. The amount of work that has been done in such a short time is amazing.I have no signature0
