Maybe they just meant the middle of the state of Washington when they said middle of the country, and therefore, PLEASE HAVE IT AT THE GORGE! Or atleast do two festivals, an eastcoast/midwest one in Chicago or whatever, and then have a west coast one at the Gorge. The guys in PJ have to know that the Gorge is a great place to have a festival or a concert in general. They should do it in lieu of Dave Matthews Band on Labor Day weekend 2011.

Why do people automatically interpret 'middle of the country' to mean the middle of the US?

It could just mean not in the city.

If thats the case, which is a great point, then I'd guess The Gorge.

Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, AR, home of Wakarusa. It's in the middle of the country, has camping, holds a lot of people, & the staging is already there.

My bet is on Alpine Valler or Chicago too but i will also throw out Aurora, CO (15 miles east of Denver) where they hold Mile High Festival. Dmb and Petty have headlined. Multi-band set up. Close to Denver airport which is major airport.

    Alpine Valley. Makes perfect sense.

They love playing there, we love going there, it's centrally located, as stated,
it holds upwards of 40,000 people and can easily be booked for an entire weekend.

    And I can't wait.
    Nice shirt.

I think the Gorge would be way too small for an event of this kind, it's only 22k, even Alpine Valley would be tough satisfying the ticket demand. IMO it's gotta be a 50k plus venue, it'd be a shame to be so exclusive and lots of folk to miss out.

If we are guessing, I will go with Bonner Springs Kansas. It is in the center of the US and I actually saw Pearl Jam play there in 2003. It was the best outdoor show I have ever seen. It rained so hard your beer would fill back up before you could empty it. Plus the bonus for me is I live withing 15 miles.

I am going to have to go with Alpine Valley. If this thing is going to be late summer, heat will be a factor, so I think they will stay northern central US. Coupled with the fact that Ed said at the '07 Chicago shows that they had tried to book the United Center shows at Alpine but for 10 different reasons it just couldn't work out...or something like that.

On one of The Gorge boots, I think maybe the first one in the box set, Ed mentions that it's a great location, but that it's a lot to ask for people to come all the way out there. That makes me think that they may have another site in mind.

Middle of the country to me is western upstate New York. But then, I may have a slightly skewed perspective.

Plus, fans can fly into Chicago and Milwaukee and drive into Alpine from there...I don't tihnk Chicago or Milwaukee are all that far from Alpine..

I do think that pearl jam will have a hard time filling up Alpine for 2-3 shows in a row...Unless, they have another big name band with them...

with the early hype they are creating for this event, and the possibility of it being a festival style, multiple band celebration, I say it going to be held in a festival style field setup, complete with camping...

by the way, who said it would be in the middle of the US country?
what happened to those Toronto rumors 2 summers ago for Downsview park?

haha...just kidding...I have not doubt it will be in the states

This is why we think its going to be "somewhere in the middle of the country."

I'm really hoping for a General Admission Show, I just like the vibe more. GA would rule out Alpine and a few of the other venues that have been mentioned.

    Rothbury Mich. perhaps?

How about a return to the site of one of their more epic shows, Soldier Field in Chicago? 7/11/95!

Also, the last time the band was in Chicago they made mention of how they were trying to book some shows up north at Alpine (which didn't happen), so obviously it was a site on their minds...

It is Alpine or Rothbury, Mich.

The Gorge is way to hard to get unless you live in Yakama...

I know for a fact it will be in Albany, NY. There are a block of rooms reserved at the Motel Six on Wolf Rd. under the name Dave Abbruzzese for the middle of next year.

i'm sure a motel 6 is first on any band member's thought process as places to stay....

That was a great weekend, but it took twice as long to drive home as it did to get there. Will PJ also do a late night set playing on top of the control tower?

I still think Great Stage Park (the site of Bonnaroo) is a possibility.

I think the guesses about Alpine Valley are on the right track.

But I'm having trouble imagining that the PJ/10Club camp will select a place w/ a hard capacity.

I think they would want every club member and/or PJ fan to be able to go for the entire weekend. The demand for tickets will exceed 40000, in my opinion.

Why not a college football stadium in Big Ten country? I know the site needs to be near mass lodging possibilities, but I think the organizers will do their best to select a venue w/ room for 75000+.

Otherwise, folks may be limited to one show during the weekend to make sure there's enough spots to go around.
