Just listened to the NPR stream. This is the first album I've liked since New Adventures In Hi-Fi. My favorites are Uberlin and Oh My Heart. The 2nd half is a little weaker, but still very listenable. I'll definitely be picking this up next week.

I Agree with everything you said. Listened to the album 5x on NPR today. Fave since New Adventures- def picking this one up.

I am loving it so far, have only gone through half of it, but I think this is an album I will love.
    I may love it already.

It is uncanny how much Blue resembles Country Feedback.
    Feels weird listening to it

I attended the "Collapse Into Now" pre-release listening party in Athens on Monday night. (The album sounds great.) I have an official t-shirt from the event (not sure I want to wear it and ruin its mint condition). Michael Stipe recorded a video message from New York that was shown at the party. Michael's parents and several other family members were in attendance, as was Peter Buck. A really neat experience. They had a live auction and a silent auction of some incredible R.E.M. items, as well as a few autographed Widespread Panic goodies.

Please do. I personally think it's great and that seems to be the overall consensus, though there will always be those that don't care for it. But then again I thought Accelerate was brilliant and one of their best ever, so maybe I'm weird.

This was totally supposed to be my post. I have a friend that doesn't have a computer and I was logged in under his profile to order him the Tres Mts. stuff. So no, someone didn't actually lurk around for almost 13 years before waiting for the perfect R.E.M. discussion to make their first post.

I bought this yesterday & listened to the whole day driving around for work.
I like it. REM has released a few duds but overall, a consistent band.

I can't quite seem to get into this album.
Had a good listen today but it just didn't quite click. I'm a newbie when it comes to REM, loved Accelerate so I think maybe I'm just a bit disappointed that this one doesn't quite hit the spot that Accelerate did.

Listened to it today, I liked it a lot. Few songs I didn't care for (Oh My Heart & Walk It Back) Really liked Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter, Blue and the first 3 tracks.

R.E.M's 15th album could trade places with almost any of the previous 14.

With Buck's chiming guitars and Stipe's echo-laden vocals, from the opener's exuberant melodicism to the "Losing My Religion"-like "Uberlin", it's archetypal R.E.M. The one difference is that it's dotted with guests from Patti Smith and her guitarist Lenny Kaye to the useless Eddie Vedder

Blue is one of the best closers of any REM album.

I'm really liking what I hear, put a smile on my face during my morning commute

I haven't seen them since the mid 90's... I won't miss my chance the next time they are in the NY metro area

Finally getting the chance to sit down and listen to this. I heard Discoverer and It Happened Today in advance, but on first listen, the album is great. I mean, maybe better than Accellerate. I loved that album, but this one's got some amazing textures to it. Not to mention some great fun highlights, like Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter, Mine Smell Like Honey, and All the Best.

I've been a rem fan since 1984 and saw them during college tours up thu the green 1989 tour.

I feel like saying " the emperor has no clothes"

Haven't heard a single cut from the new album that sounds anything but " god awful"!

    What happened the rem??!
